Abstract

 This research aims to reveal the slang expression (slang words) uttered by some characters in Little Man movie. To analyze them, the writers use Holmes’ references about social scale which is classified into four scales. By using qualitative descriptive method, the writers found 18 slang words then analyzed them into social distance scale, status scale, formality scale, or functional scale. After classifying these scales, it can be concluded that social distance scale is the mostly used in the movie. It can be assumed that social distance scale has told about the relationship between characters.

Abstract

This study investigates how the nineth graders of SMP in Lombok Utara apply exemplum teks in writing expressions.  Two SMPN in Gangga and Bayan in Lombok Utara city were assigned as the research setting. An amount of 30 students and one teacer in each school was selected as participants. Of three states SMP in Lombok Utara, both schools have applied The 2013 Curriculum, so that both schools were seected as the research setting. Data were collected through written test the students made in exemplum, interviews with teachers to know strategies to express the exemplum.  The study reveals that the nineth graders of SMP in Lombok Utara perform succesfully to use figurative language for comparison. The mastery is colored as: of 58 students, 48 (79%) are succesful to use figurative language for comparison, 28% use incomplete text structure of exemplum emphasizing on orietnation and incidents.  The students have produced conjunctions, that include: conjunction intersentences, conjunction intra-sentences, and appropriate adverbs.  However, conjunctions to link paragraphs after another are short.  Exemplum that refers to example, story, or annecdote is not well developed by students.

Abstract

  This research aims to analyze, track and formulate the social perspective in Dompu societies that are implied and expressed in text of Nggahi Dana. Arcetype-pragmatic approach was used as the research design emphasizing on content and thematic analysis.  Seven informants were assigned as the key informants.  In addition, observations, interviews and documents analysis were applied to support the data. Three video-tapes obtained from the observation and interviews were transcribed verbatim prior to analysis. The study reveals that identity construction of societies in Dompu was made by culture politics through oligarchy hierarchy since several years ago, that is to obey to the leader and abroad guests, and the text of Nggahi Dana is utilized as the device to doctrine low level societies (slave) by the rulers.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to explain (1) the form of politeness principles by language teacher languages and female students in the learning process of Indonesian language at SMA Al Abidin Bilingual Boarding School (SMA ABBS), (2) violation to politeness principle of female teachers and female students in learning process of Indonesian learning in SMA ABBS.  Using qualitative approach, this study assigned the 2nd graders of SMA ABBS as the research subjet. Data were collected using recording techniques. Validity in this study was examined using method triangulation. Results of this study show five varieties of politeness principles including maxim of tact, generousity, praise, humanity and consciousness and the violations of the five maxims do occur in learning process of Indonesian language among teachers and female students.

Abstract

  This study explores the nature of mantra for the rice breeding in Campa Village, Madapangga District the regent of Bima.  As the indigenous people belive on the aesthetical and spiritual of the mantra, this study tries to explore how society especially the villagers who mostly are farmers perceive values in the mantra. This syudy used ethnograpy and approached the data analysis using qualitative methods.  Five informants having authority in the mantra were interviewed and harvesting rice was used as research setting.  Observation, interview and document analysis were the sources of data in this research.  This study reveals that aqidah (God trust) values are the most values people believe as the total renderness to Allah as the absolute truth.  Reying on Allah wish, people involve activities of plantation rice for success. The second value is syariah (law)  from where people rule and apply their social and daily life activities.  The third value is moral (akhlak) to maintain their surrounding in peace, safe and sustainable.

Abstract

  This post-test experimental study aims to see the difference achivement of the tenth graders of SMAN 1 Sekongkang who were taught using indigeneous Sumbawa song and those who were taught using conventional materials in writing the short story.  This study assigned 22 students for the experimental and 22 students for the controlled group.  A test to write a short story was developed and each work was evaluated using criteria of a good short story.  The results of this study show that students who received treatnents using indigeneous Sumbawa song exhibit significantly from those who received conventional media showing statistical testing at p=0.05 that is t-vale = 14.725 that is greater than t-table = 1.682.

Abstract

 The research was inspired by the beauty of the language used by the speaker called pembayun in the traditional sorong serah ceremony, the bridal application of Sasak people in Lombok. The tradition does happen however, young generations would have neglected the meaning denoted in the languages of the ceremony that contains high values of culture, wisdom and religiously. This study used content analysis and ethnography. Data were collected using observation, interview, documentation, and records. Informants that were the native speakers of Sasak and Sumbawa and have the authority on the traditional ceremony were selected. The results show: (1) aesthetically, the form of language used in the reception is the highest form in the Sasak language, which not all Sasak people are able to understand and use; (2) the aesthetic function of the reception of the swinging language in the sorong serah event is a means to convey the message, religion, custom and morals; and (3) the aesthetic value contained in the pembayun language refer to very high moral values and needs to be known by the public at large.

Abstract

 This study reports how attainments in the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum (K-13) in teaching bahasa Indonesia for SMA students. Using a survey method, this study assigned teachers, students, and administrators in SMAN 1 of West Brayat, Central Lombok Regency. The results show that handicaps do exist to teach bahasa Indonesia based on K-13 because: (1) teachers get problems on preparing teaching instructional designs and its attributes such as lesson plan, scientific approach teaching method, audio-visual toolkits, learning resources, and authentic assessment; (2) lack of understanding to perceive K-13 as an ideal curriculum that encourages students more active and self-independent learners; and (3) constraints appear in the implementation of K-13 include limited time, limited facilities and infrastructure, assessment, and activeness of students in the teaching and learning process.
