Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of a combination of aerobic and resistance training on blood glucose control in DM patients. The method used is a systematic review of the Scopus, Embase, EBSCO, ScienceDirect and ProQuest databases. The results showed that aerobic training carried out 5-6 times per week (150 hours per week) by running or cycling and resistance training performed 2-3 times per week (8-10 exercises per session) using weights, resistance bands, or body weights provided a positive impact on blood glucose control. In conclusion, the combination of aerobic and resistance training performed with the recommended frequency, duration, intensity and repetition can improve glycemic control in DM patients with indicators of blood sugar stability and HbA1c. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of CBT in the treatment of cancer patients. The method used is a systematic review of articles obtained from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Springerlink and Sage Journal databases. The results showed that CBT helped overcome several problems experienced by cancer patients, such as depression, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, fear of cancer recurrence, pain, self-efficacy problems and sexual function of cancer patients. In conclusion, CBT can be applied in the treatment of cancer patients through several approaches, such as Mindfulness Therapy (MiCBT), Group CBT, Internet-based CBT (I-CBT), video-integrated CBT (VCBT-I) and commonly practiced professional CBT. Abstract

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of the Active Cycle Breathing technique (ACT) nursing intervention in overcoming the problem of an ineffective airway through a series of respiratory control, deep breathing and sputum expulsion techniques. The method used is a single case study. Respondents of this study were patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis with broad lesions with bronchiectasis. The results showed that after being given ACT intervention for seven days, there was an increase in oxygenation status, a decrease in sputum, and shortness of breath. In conclusion, ACT intervention is effective in reducing airway clearance problems. Keywords: TB Bronchiectasis, Cycle Breathing Technique, Breathing Exercises, Wide Lesion TB, Pulmonary TB

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of chayote extract (Sechium edule) on malondialdehyde serum levels in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) fed a high-cholesterol diet and to prove the antioxidant content of chayote. The method used is experimental with a post-test-only control group design. This study used white rats, which were divided into five groups. The results of this study indicate that the administration of chayote extract at a dose of 0.25 g/kg BW and 0.5 g/kg BW can reduce the serum MDA concentration, although it is not statistically significant, while the administration of a chayote extract at a dose of 0.75 g/Kg BW can significantly reduce serum MDA levels in white rats induced by hypercholesterolemia. In conclusion, chayote extract at a dose of 0.75 g/kg BW can reduce blood MDA serum levels in white rats induced by hypercholesterolemia. Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the telenursing method used by families undergoing palliative care programs for advanced cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used is a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach model. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews with six participants and were taken based on the snowball sampling method. The results showed that when undergoing a palliative care program, the experience experienced by the family was worried about being infected with COVID-19 and there was patient non-compliance in undergoing the palliative care therapy program, such as doing excessive physical activity, taking drugs irregularly and consuming prohibited foods. In conclusion, it is necessary to increase the telenursing method's ability for families undergoing palliative care programs for advanced cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in improving the ability to communicate with patients and the use of information technology. Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of applying virtual reality technology on pain behavior in postoperative ORIF patients with lower extremity fractures during dressing changes. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study amounted to 50 patients after ORIF surgery for lower extremity fractures who underwent a wound dressing replacement procedure with a consecutive sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of a demographic data questionnaire, virtual reality devices and media and the Behavioral Pain Scale-Non Intubated (BPS-NI). The results showed that as many as 22 respondents (88%) who received virtual reality intervention when changing wound dressings did not show any pain, while the other 3 respondents experienced mild pain (12%). The results of the statistical test analysis Wilcoxon-Signed Ranked and Mann Whitney obtained a p-value <0.05. In conclusion, there is an effect of applying virtual reality technology in reducing pain as indicated by changes in pain behavior of patients after ORIF surgery for lower extremity fractures when changing wound dressings. Abstract

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of abdominal massage in preventing constipation in stroke patients. The method used is a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest. The sampling technique was conducted by consecutive sampling using the Constipation Assessment Scale (CAS) instrument. The results showed an effect of abdominal massage on the prevention of constipation in stroke patients (p = 0.001) and after the procedure (p = 0.001). In conclusion, abdominal massage is effective in preventing constipation. Keywords: Abdomen, Constipation, Massage, Stroke

Abstract

This study aims to identify and evaluate the effect of natural music therapy intervention on hemodialysis patients. This research uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Respondents in this study were 96 hemodialysis patients. Data were collected using a State Anxiety Inventory (SAI) questionnaire comprising 20 statement items. Data were analyzed using nonparametric tests (Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test). The results showed a difference between the mean value of anxiety in the intervention group and the control group, namely 37.90 in the intervention group and 42.33 in the control group, with a p-value of 0.048. In conclusion, natural music therapy is recommended as an alternative to reduce the level of anxiety in hemodialysis patients to improve the patient's quality of life.
