Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is not only related to the mastery of concepts and procedures but is also influenced by affective factors such as self-efficacy. This study aims to analyze students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities in the topic of Three-Variable Linear Equation System based on Polya’s procedures in terms of self-efficacy. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The study was conducted at a public senior high school in Bogor Regency involving 30 eleventh-grade students, with three students selected as the main subjects based on high, moderate, and low self-efficacy categories. Data were collected through a self-efficacy questionnaire and a mathematical problem-solving ability test based on Polya’s four-step procedures. The findings revealed that students with high self-efficacy were able to carry out all problem-solving procedures systematically and consistently. Students with moderate self-efficacy demonstrated fairly good ability but were not yet consistent, particularly lacking thoroughness in understanding the problem and still making errors at the evaluation stage. Meanwhile, students with low self-efficacy tended to experience difficulties in solving problems, characterized by a lack of problem understanding, inaccuracies in constructing mathematical models, and failure to evaluate the final results. These findings confirm that the higher a student’s self-efficacy, the better their problem-solving ability.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative study at MTs Nida’ul Khairaat Pombewe explores the internal and external barriers affecting the mathematics learning interest of Grade VIII students. Data were gathered through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results reveal that internal barriers include negative attitudes, low self-confidence, and cognitive difficulties. Meanwhile, external barriers encompass monotonous teaching methods, one-way interaction, and a lack of family support and conducive classroom environments. These factors interact to worsen low student interest. In conclusion, low learning interest is a multidimensional phenomenon requiring interactive, student-centered pedagogical strategies to create a more supportive learning environment.

Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the major transportation safety problems that may cause casualties and material losses. Analysis of the number of accident victims is important to describe accident severity and identify influencing factors. This study aims to model the number of traffic accident victims in Lamongan Regency based on time characteristics and road conditions using Quasi Poisson regression. The data used were secondary data obtained from the Lamongan Police consisting of 1,202 traffic accident observations during 2025. The analysis stages included descriptive analysis, Poisson regression modeling, dispersion testing, and Quasi-Poisson regression modeling. The dispersion test result showed a dispersion parameter value of 0.4161, indicating underdispersion where the variance was smaller than the mean. This condition caused the standard Poisson regression model to be less appropriate because the equidispersion assumption was not fulfilled. The Quasi Poisson model produced more reliable statistical inference by adjusting the variance through a dispersion parameter. The significant variables affecting the number of traffic accident victims were month, day category, road status, and road condition. Therefore, the Quasi Poisson regression model was more suitable for modeling underdispersed traffic accident count data.

Abstract

Abstract Traffic accidents are a transportation safety issue that have significant social and economic impacts. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing traffic accident severity in Lamongan Regency using binary logistic regression. The data used were secondary data on 1,206 traffic accident cases from 2024 obtained from the Lamongan Police. The response variables were classified into two categories: minor accidents and serious accidents. Predictor variables included the number of fatalities, the number of minor injuries, the time of the accident, the type of accident, the cause of the accident, the road status, the road condition, and the road type. The analysis was conducted using binary logistic regression with a stepwise variable selection method based on the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). The results showed that the number of fatalities, the number of minor injuries, the time of the accident, the type of accident, the road status, and the road type significantly influenced traffic accident severity. The resulting model achieved a classification accuracy of 78.11%, enabling a reasonably good classification of accident severity.

Abstract

Abstract Maternal mortality is one of the key indicators in assessing public health status and the quality of maternal health services. East Java Province still exhibits considerable variation in maternal mortality rates across districts and cities, necessitating an analytical approach that accounts for regional characteristic differences. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing maternal mortality rates in East Java Province using the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) method. Secondary data from 2024 covering 38 districts and cities in East Java were used. The predictor variables analyzed include K1 coverage, K4 coverage, postpartum maternal health services, deliveries assisted by health professionals, vitamin A supplementation, Fe3 tablet distribution, as well as the ratio of hospitals and community health centers. The results indicate that the GWR model with an adaptive Tricube kernel and an optimum bandwidth of 35 is the best-fitting model, with an AICc value of 261.175 and R² of 0.8646, outperforming the OLS model which yielded an R² of 0.6612. Local parameter estimation results reveal that the influence of predictor variables differs across districts and cities, indicating that the factors affecting maternal mortality are spatially varying and heterogeneous across regions.
