Abstract

This research aims to determine the formulation of probiotic feed fermented with rice washing water with different fermentation times to produce the highest growth of Daphnia magna. The research included experimental research using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and repeated three times to obtain nine experimental units. Each container is filled with 2 liters of water with a Daphnia density of 20 ind/l. Treatment A: giving probiotics and rice washing water without fermentation; treatment B: giving probiotics and rice washing water with a fermentation time of 6 hours; treatment C: giving probiotics and rice washing water with a fermentation time of 12 hours. Based on research conducted for 12 days, the results showed that the fermentation time of probiotics and rice washing water affected the population density of Daphnia magna. Treatment C: Giving probiotics and rice washing water with a fermentation time of 12 hours is the best treatment compared to other treatments.

Abstract

In the research conducted to assess the preference levels for fish meatballs made from various main ingredients, specifically pelagic fish such as tuna, mackerel, and skipjack, the study aimed to determine the preference for fish meatball products using large pelagic fish as the main ingredient, namely tuna, mackerel, and skipjack. Through a hedonic test, with results analyzed using the Friedman test, it was found that the panelists preferred fish meatballs made with mackerel as the main ingredient in terms of appearance, aroma, texture, and taste. The average scores for appearance were 5.93, for aroma 6.2, for texture 4.73, and for taste 5.4, which was the second highest after skipjack fish meatballs.

Abstract

Caulerpa lentillifera is known to have an antibacterial benefit based on various research findings. The study aims to analyze the potential of the Caulerpa lentillifera water extract in the bacterial barrier power isolated from the lele infected wound disease. The methods carried out included extracting Caulerpa lentillifera water extract. The study was conducted using an experimental method with a Complete Random Scheme (RAL) consisting of control, 50 mg/l and 100 mg/ l on each extract. The results showed that the water extract of Caulerpa lentillifera showed significant increases in the barrier strength at doses of 50 mg / l and 100mg/l with diameters of 7.8 mm and 8.4 mm respectively in bacteria isolated from the disease-affected fish wounds. On the other hand, on the result of the bacterial barrier that is isolated from the living media, the lele obtains a low barrier. This is due to the bioactive activity of the antibacterial water extract Cauleroa lentillifera specific to bacteria. It can be concluded that Caulerpa lentillifera is also capable of inhibiting the growth of the bacteria causing the lily's wound

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of providing commercial feed with the addition of ethanol extract of K. alvarezii seaweed flour on the growth of tilapia (O. niloticus). The research was carried out in July – October 2023 at the Aquaculture Reproduction Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Mataram University. The method used in this study was an experimental method using a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely : commercial feed (control/P1), 96% ethanol extract 1:3 (P2), 96% ethanol extract 1:4 (P3), and ), 96% ethanol extract 1:5 (P4). Extraction was carried out by macerating K. alvarezii seaweed flour for 30 hours, then filtering and evaporating at 40 oC until an extract was produced in liquid form. The extract is mixed with feed at a rate of 2 g/kg feed. Before being given to feed, the extract is mixed first with 10 ml of distilled water. The tilapia seeds used measure 4 – 5 cm with a stocking density of 1 fish/liter. Fish rearing is carried out for 50 days, with a feeding frequency of 5% of the total weight of the fish and done 3 times a day. The test parameters are absolute weight, absolute length, specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion (FCR), feed utilization efficiency, survival (SR) and water quality, which includes temperature, pH and DO. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan test at significant level of 0.05. The research results showed that the addition of K. alvarezii ethanol extract to tilapia feed can influence growth, feed utilization efficiency, feed convention rate (FCR), and survival rate (SR) of tilapia. The addition of K. alvarezii ethanol extract 1:5 to the feed showed the best results because it could increase the growth and utilization of tilapia feed with a survival rate of tilapia of 83%.

Abstract

One of the superior fishery commodities abundant in Indonesian waters is Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed. The seaweed type K. alvarezii can be used to make Alkali Treated Cottonii (ATC), a raw material for carrageenan. Making ATC goes through seaweed extraction stages, which can be done using conventional methods. Data collection for this research was carried out using observation, interviews, and active participation. The results of ATC processing using conventional methods and variations of KOH show that the administration of KOH affects the quality of the ATC product; the higher the ATC, the higher the yield percentage and temperature produced by the extract solution. The best use of KOH is in the treatment with a KOH concentration of 8%, a water content of 13.73%, a yield of 73.62%, and a temperature of 58.15%.

Abstract

The Banda Sea is part of the Indonesian Republic's Fisheries Management Area (WPPNRI) based on the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 1 of 2009 regarding the fisheries management area of the Republic of Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze catch per unit effort (CPUE), and the results of sustainable catch potential (MSY) of bigeye tuna landed at the Kendari Oceanic Fishery Port (PPS). The data collected is derived from PPS Kendari over the past seven years (2016-2022). The research findings indicated that the catch effort value of bigeye tuna fluctuated from 2016 to 2022. There was an increase in 2017 with a value of 133 kg/trip, while in 2021, there was a decrease with a value of 32 kg/trip. The sustainable potential of bigeye tuna landed at PPS Kendari was assessed using the Fox model. The Fox model determined the optimum effort value (EMSY) to be 431 trips and the maximum catch value (CMSY) to be 42.174 kg/year. The stock status of bigeye tuna in the Banda Sea indicates overfishing.

Abstract

One of the problems that occurs is the production of artificial feed that is still imported so that the price of feed is relatively expensive and tends to increase, therefore the right solution is the manufacture of feed using local raw materials, one of which is maggot feed which is used as an alternative as artificial feed for catfish growth and suppresses feed prices. The purpose of this study is to determine the efficiency of production costs that occur by utilizing Black Soldier Fly larvae as an alternative feed for catfish for their growth. This research uses a hybrid approach between quantitative and qualitative with descriptive analysis and cost of goods produced by maggot cultivation. The data obtained in this study was processed using statistical formulas through the Microsoft Excel program. The calculation of cost of goods produced using the full costing method is carried out quantitatively and evaluates the growth of catfish by feeding dry maggots. The location of the research was carried out in CV. Millenial Agro Farm Jl. Toddopuli Raya Timur, Paropo Village, Panakukkang District, Makassar City. Cost of Goods Production of Dry Maggot as much as Rp. 99,789 in one cycle. The recommendation from the study is that the efficiency of the cost of goods produced can be done in several cycles.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the type and proportion of marketing channels for flying fish commodities (Decapterus spp). This research was carried out in January-February 2024 at the Samudera Fisheries Port, Puday Village, Abeli District, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Data collection techniques are conducted through interviews with fishermen marketing actors, commission agents, retailers, inter-regional and industrial traders. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that there are five types of marketing channels. Type I fishermen - commission agents - retailers - consumers, type II fishermen - commission agents - inter-regional traders - consumers, type III fishermen - commission agents - industry - consumers, type IV fishermen - commission agents - consumers PPS, type V fishermen - commission agents – industry - domestic consumers. Local marketing channels consist of types I to IV, while type V is a domestic marketing channel. The proportion of marketing shows that 60% of the total marketing is for the local market, while 40% is for the domestic market. The structure and proportion of the marketing channel of the flyfish can be the basis for the development of a more efficient marketing strategy in the future.

Abstract

Ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) merupakan salah satu komoditas air tawar yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Ikan nila menarik perhatian besar dalam sektor perikanan karena memiliki nilai ekonomis yang cukup tinggi sehingga menjadi penting dalam kegiatan bisnis akuakultur. Untuk memenuhi permintaan konsumen secara terus menerus terhadap ikan nila, pembudidaya menggunakan transportasi sebagai proses distribusi. Umumnya kegiatan transportasi ikan dilakukan dengan kepadatan ikan yang tinggi sebagai upaya untuk mengoptimalkan penghematan biaya. Namun dalam aplikasi kegiatan transportasi dengan menggunakan kepadatan yang tinggi dapat menyebabkan ikan menjadi stress dan rentan mengalami kematian. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan upaya untuk mengurangi tekanan fisiologis serta dapat diambil tindakan untuk mengantisipasi stres pada ikan selama transportasi berlangsung dengan menggunakan metode pemingsangan. Maksud dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian minyak cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum) dengan dosis berbeda terhadap kelangsungan hidup ikan nila pada transportasi tertutup. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan minyak cengkeh sebagai bahan anestesi dengan tujuan mengetahui dosis terbaik bagi kelangsungan hidup ikan nila. Ikan nila yang digunakan memiliki berat 100 gram dalam wadah ember (4 percobaan masing-masing 6 kali ulangan) dengan jumlah 20 ekor ikan/ember. Kemudian dihitung kelangsungan hidup pada akhir penelitian. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian minyak cengkeh dengan dosis yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata terhadap kelangsungan hidup Ikan nila. Kelangsungan hidup tertinggi pada penelitian ini terjadi pada perlakuan B (dengan pemberian 15% atau 9 ml minyak cengkeh) dengan tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 95%. Pengukuran kualitas air selama penelitian diperoleh suhu berkisaran 22-23,5˚C ; pH berkisaran 7-7.7 ; Oksigen Terlarut berkisaran 5.5 – 6 mg/L.

Abstract

This activity evaluates the quality of fish seeds according to SNI standards, focusing on seeds produced via hormonal induction using the pituitary gland during the 2023 and 2024 Fish Seed Technology course practicum. The experiment conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory of Muhammadiyah University of Gresik by used pearl strain dumbo catfish broodstock averaging ±950g, certified from the Mojokerto Freshwater Aquaculture Installation, East Java. The broodstock received a 1:1 pituitary solution injection, and the latent period was monitored until stripping was feasible. The stripped eggs were fertilized with sperm and hatched in a fiber tank (3 x 1.5 x 0.5 m³) until reaching 30 days post-fertilization (PF). Key observation variables included the latent period, fecundity, seed viability (SR, %), and fish seed quality, analyzed according to the SNI 6484.2: 2014 document and scientific literature. Results from the 2023 and 2024 practicum showed a consistent latent period of approximately 6 hours post-induction and a fecundity of 74,277.8 ± 77,385 grains. After 30 days PF, 7,586 seeds survived, with 36 (0.47%) categorized as shooters. The total length (TL) of the seeds ranged from 16.25 ± 3.46 mm to 19.00 ± 1.64 mm. Color grouping revealed the Pale 3 group had the highest percentage at 78%. No abnormalities were observed, and the seeds demonstrated high responsiveness. Overall, the fish seeds exhibited good quality and uniformity in terms of TL, age, color, and symmetry of paired locomotor organs. The findings indicate a need to clarify uniformity criteria in the SNI document and suggest including the shooter ratio in seed containers, as this relates to the unique characteristics of Clarias sp catfish.
