Abstract

This research examines waste management in Sleman Regency. This problem is interesting to research because due to the lack of waste management carried out by the government. The task of the Sleman Regency government is to invite the community to participate in incentive and disincentive programs. Providing incentives and disincentives according to the needs of the community is expected to influence waste management in Sleman Regency by using the participation of the community itself. Therefore, this research is intended to determine the effectiveness of the incentive and disincentive program of the local government of Sleman Regency as a waste management strategy. To examine these problems, researchers used the theory of program effectiveness according to Van Meter and Van Horn. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the incentive and disincentive program is a waste management strategy in Sleman Regency, because it meets the existing criteria and implementers and other waste management parties say that this program helps in waste management. From this research, it was found that the driving factors in the success of this program include this program being accepted by many parties and flexible program implementation. There are also inhibiting factors in running this program including this program has not been structured in detail and has not been well socialized to the community, and there is also no special unit tasked with incentives and disincentives as a waste management strategy in Sleman Regency.

Abstract

Patriarchal culture has entrenched the ideal mother as a societal norm rather than a measure of family success. Research aims to uncover how this construct shapes behavior and acknowledges media and the @kedirisupermom community in fostering new discourse. Using a qualitative Schutz phenomenological approach, data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed via Miles and Huberman's model, alongside Peter L. Berger's social construction theory and Michel Foucault's discourse analysis. Findings reveal three stages in ideal mother standardization: externalization through advice and religious misconceptions, objectification via ideology adoption for social control, and internalization resulting in mom-shaming impacts like baby blues and excessive guilt among working mothers. The @kedirisupermom community challenges gender inequality discourse via Instagram, effectively disseminating conservative knowledge.

Abstract

This study investigates the social meanings and implications of online shopping behavior in Surabaya, Indonesia, a rapidly urbanizing city with high internet penetration and a growing e-commerce sector. It examines how online shopping is experienced and understood by consumers, moving beyond a purely transactional view to explore its role in shaping social relationships, identities, and cultural practices. Using a qualitative approach, the research draws on in-depth interviews with eighteen regular online shoppers in Surabaya, selected through purposive sampling with the assistance of a key informant who owns an online store. The semi-structured interviews explored participants' motivations, purchasing habits, perceptions of online shopping, and the social context of their online consumption. Thematic analysis was employed, involving iterative coding and interpretation of the interview transcripts to identify recurring patterns and key themes. The findings reveal that online shopping in Surabaya is driven by a complex interplay of factors beyond mere convenience. While the ease and efficiency of online platforms are significant motivators, the study highlights the powerful influence of discounts, promotions, and the visual allure of online marketplaces. These factors often lead to impulse purchases and the acquisition of items driven by "want" rather than "need." Furthermore, the research uncovers the significant role of social comparison and the desire for "newness" in shaping online consumption. Participants expressed a desire to keep up with trends, appear fashionable, and gain social validation through their online purchases. This suggests that online shopping is not simply an individual activity but is deeply embedded in social dynamics and the pursuit of status. The study concludes that online shopping in Surabaya is a multifaceted social practice, reflecting broader trends in consumer culture and the increasing influence of digital platforms on everyday life. It highlights the need for further research into the long-term social, cultural, and psychological consequences of this increasingly prevalent form of consumption.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the social movement advocating for civil rights and combating racism that was instigated by a renowned basketball athlete, LeBron James, within the United States. The study of social movements, which are collective behaviours initiated by grassroots groups in pursuit of their objectives, has been of significant scholarly interest since the early 20th century. Typically, scholarly investigations pertaining to social movements prioritise the examination of contextual factors around the issue at hand, as well as the individual reasons that drive the participants' engagement. In the present-day context, the occurrence of social movements is expanding and exhibiting inherent intricacy, encompassing a diverse range of concerns and participants. This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of the social movement spearheaded by LeBron James, a renowned basketball athlete in the United States. James has demonstrated a sustained commitment to advocating for the civil rights of black individuals. The existing body of literature reveals a dearth of research on social movements initiated or executed by athletes. Consequently, doing this study is of significant scholarly importance. The results indicate that the initiation of this movement by a prominent athlete is intrinsically linked to the sense of collective identification shared between the athlete and the marginalised groups whose rights are being advocated for. Furthermore, the emergence of this movement can be attributed to other elements, notably the cultivation of unity and dedication among the individuals involved in the movement spearheaded by LeBron James.

Abstract

The management of Ngiroboyo Beach in Sendang Village, Donorojo District, Pacitan Regency, has gone through various stages of development since 2016. Initially managed by the Village Youth Organization, management was transferred to the Subur Makmur Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in 2019. This BUMDes developed Ngiroboyo Beach with the aim of improving the village economy through tourism. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to explore the application of Good Governance principles in the management of Ngiroboyo Beach and identify the relationships between actors involved in the management of this tourist area. The principles of Good Governance are realized through transparency, accountability, community participation, and cooperation between sectors. This study shows that close collaboration between the village government, BUMDes, and the local community is the key to successful management. They work together in decision making, tourism operations, and environmental conservation. Innovation and adaptation, such as the use of technology, also play an important role. The success of Ngiroboyo Beach proves that the principles of Good Governance can make village tourism a driving force for a sustainable economy.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze how PT Unilever Indonesia's CSR program aligns with sustainability principles, viewed from the concepts of the sustainable development. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has increasingly positioned corporations as important actors in promoting sustainable development by integrating economic, social, and environmental responsibilities into business strategies. In Indonesia, however, the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within corporate practices remains relatively limited. The Unilever Compass represents a sustainability-oriented framework designed to align corporate growth with broader social and environmental objectives. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was employed to identify and analyze relevant academic literature and corporate reports. The review process resulted in 13 selected sources published between 2018 and 2024, which were examined using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that PT Unilever Indonesia implements an integrated CSR strategy covering climate action, waste reduction, health and well-being, equity and inclusion, and livelihood improvement. These initiatives demonstrate alignment with the three pillars of sustainable development. CSR practices also reflect a socio-ecological approach that strengthens stakeholder collaboration while simultaneously reinforcing corporate legitimacy within contemporary economic systems.
