Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) on the improvement of sexual self-control among female adolescents in Kupang Tengah District, Indonesia. The participants in this study were 40 female adolescents aged 15-18 years, who had a boyfriend and had never engaged in sexual intercourse. The research used an experimental design with random assignment. Sexual self-control was measured using the Perceived Sexual Control (PSC) scale, which has a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.869. The results of the independent t-test showed a two-tailed significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), with a t-value of 4.693 > t-table = 2.024. The average sexual self-control in the experimental group (M = 56.70) was higher than that of the control group (M = 54.20), indicating that CSE significantly influences the improvement of sexual self-control among adolescents.

Abstract

Online gender-based violence (OGBV) in Indonesia has experienced a significant increase in 2023 compared to the previous year. OGBV is a term that refers to acts of violence or sexual harassment, especially targeting women, which are carried out through internet technology. Teenagers are a generation of digital natives who are highly dependent on internet technology. Engaging in harmful content online has also been shown to pose a danger to physical and mental health. Understanding adolescents' perceptions and attitudes towards OGBV is a crucial step in efforts to overcome and prevent it. This study aims to: 1) Identify adolescents' perception of OGBV based on gender and social background; 2) Analyze adolescents' attitudes towards OGBV based on gender and social background. This quantitative survey design took the research subjects of high schools in Semarang, approximately 30882 adolescents in 16 sub-districts in Semarang with a random sampling technique using a total of 545 respondents. Because the data was not normally distributed, the data analysis used The Mann-Whitney U test and The Kruskal-Wallis H analysis. The results of the study show that women's perception is better than men's. The higher the socio-economic status, the better the perception of OGBV. Women's attitudes are higher than men's attitudes towards OGBV. There was no significant difference in OGBV's attitude based on socioeconomic status.

Abstract

Abstract

Bullying continues to be a significant problem in educational settings, adversely affecting the psychological, physical, and social well-being of kids. This study investigates the difficulties and solutions for preventing and mitigating bullying among Vocational High School (SMK) students in Banjarmasin, Indonesia. Data were gathered via written and semi-structured interviews with four guidance and counseling educators from public and private vocational institutions Using a qualitative research methodology and case study design. The thematic analysis identified three primary challenges: the perception of bullying as a "joke," the impact of social media and the social context, and the difficulties of emotional regulation in adolescents. In response to these difficulties, schools are adopting various strategic approaches, including traditional services, anti-bullying policies, a WhatsApp hotline for reporting incidents, and collaborative initiatives that include all stakeholders within the school community. This research underscores the significance of technology integration and community engagement in fostering a secure and inclusive educational atmosphere. These findings substantially enhance the formulation of successful educational policies and anti-bullying initiatives.

Abstract

Active-empathic listening skills is one important factor in building healthy romantic relationship for emerging adults. Previous studies have focused more on sexual education, dating violence prevention, active listening, and empathic listening separately, without specifically targeting emerging adults. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of healthy romantic relationship training on enhancing the active-empathic listening skills among emerging adults. The training included knowledge and skills related to active-empathic listening, such as knowledge about healthy romantic relationships, self-concept, adaptive coping strategy, and active-empathic listening skills. This study was conducted using a quasi-experimental within-subject design, measured using the Healthy Romantic Relationship Scale and the Active-Empathic Listening Scale (AELS). 13 unmarried emerging adults (M = 21.9) completed the training session until the follow-up session. Results from quantitative analysis using repeated measure ANOVA indicated that healthy romantic relationship training is effective on enhancing active-empathic listening skills in emerging adults (F(2,11) = 4.872, p = .031). Qualitative data further supported the hypothesis, showed the improvement in knowledge, skills, and confidence in applying active-empathic listening skills within future romantic relationships. Findings highlighted the importance of training programs focused on enhancing active-empathic listening skills to support emerging adults in achieving healthier outcomes in their romantic relationships

Abstract

This study will examine the problematic behaviors exhibited by the character Zain Al-Rafeea in the film Capernaum, analyzing these behaviors as a consequence of the parenting patterns employed by his parents. The method used in analyzing problematic characters and behavior is by using the behavioristic analysis method, which examines the relationship between stimuli and responses to understand how parenting influence shapes behavior. The approach used in this study is qualitative using library research with data collection techniques through observation and documentation in the Capernaum film which will be presented in descriptive form. The results of this research show that the problematic behavior shown by Zain Al-Rafeea, such as stealing, speaking harshly, running away from home, and getting involved in physical conflict with adults, is a conditioned response that is attached and connected to the stimulus resulting from his parents' parenting style. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the fields of education, psychology, and child welfare by identifying risk factors that contribute to the emergence of problematic behavior in children. This study is also expected to increase public awareness of the importance of positive parenting patterns in shaping healthy child development.

Abstract

This study investigated into the connection between learning motivation and mothers’ democratic parenting styles, exploring their impact on adolescent learning behaviors through a correlational quantitative approach. The research involved a sample of 216 high school students from Manado Independent School, carefully selected using simple random sampling. Data was gathered through the distribution of questionnaires, including the Learning Motivation Questionnaire, the Parenting Style and Dimension Questionnaire (PSDQ) for Adolescents, and the Learning Behaviors Scale, which provided valuable insights into the dynamics at play. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques. The results of the partial regression analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between learning motivation and learning behaviors, with a regression coefficient of 0.400 and a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). In contrast, the democratic parenting style showed no significant contribution to learning behaviors, as evidenced by a regression coefficient of -0.07 and a significance value of 0.770 (p>0.05). Overall, the findings of the study revealed a significant simultaneous contribution of both learning motivation and mothers’ democratic parenting styles to adolescent learning behaviors. With a coefficient of determination of 0.653 and a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05), the results highlighted that these factors played a crucial role in enhancing learning behaviors. This, in turn, holds the potential to improve academic performance and overall learning outcomes among adolescents.
