Abstract

This research provides insight into the complexity of the shadow terminal phenomenon and how improvements in the public transportation system can provide better solutions to the mobility needs of people in Indonesia. The mix method approach is a qualitative and quantitative method used in this research by conducting in-depth interviews with 15 informants consisting of employees of the Land Transportation Management Center, Transportation Service, Type A official terminal, Police and Land Transport Organization. Second, by distributing 150 questionnaires to shadow terminal users, as well as field observations in affected locations. The research results reveal that several key factors that influence passengers' decisions in using shadow terminals are cost, time and accessibility. People feel compelled to choose shadow terminals because of lower costs, and better speeds, as well as marriage in schedules. The time factor and lack of facilities at the official terminal also trigger passengers to look for alternative transportation. The implication of the phenomenon of the spread of shadow terminals is that there are challenges in maintaining the quality and movement of official public transportation services. Therefore, a holistic solution is needed to improve service quality and meet passenger needs. Some of the recommendations resulting from this research include improving official terminal facilities, improving punctuality, adjusting tariffs to be more affordable, educational campaigns, developing official applications, and collaboration between stakeholders. By overcoming the challenges that arise from this phenomenon, it is hoped that official public transportation services can become more effective and better meet passenger needs.

Abstract

This research evaluates the performance of on-street parking in Cilegon City to increase local revenue (Locally- Generated Revenue). Regional autonomy allows local governments to manage resources, including parking fees, which has the potential to increase Locally-Generated Revenue. However, the management of parking fees in Cilegon City is still less than optimal, as evidenced by the low contribution of parking revenue to Locally-Generated Revenue and the failure to achieve the parking fee budget target since 2019. Quantitative research methods are used by analyzing existing conditions, arrangement and parking fees, as well as revenue projections. The survey results show the need for increased parking facilities and better arrangement. Analysis shows a significant increase in income after parking arrangements, especially on Jl. D.I Pandjaitan 1. Even though there has been an increase in income, the effectiveness of the contribution of parking fees to Locally- Generated Revenue is still inconsistent. Analysis of ability to pay (ATP) and willingness to pay (WTP) indicates that existing tariffs are still feasible. Revenue projections after the arrangement show a significant increase, making parking fees a potential source for increasing Cilegon City's Locally-Generated Revenue.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of knowledge, attitudes, perceptions, co-workers, and income on the safety riding behavior of motorbike taxi drivers at Menara Sunan Kudus. Considering the high risk of accidents faced by motorcycle taxi drivers, understanding the factors that influence safe driving behavior is very important. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of 100 motorcycle taxi drivers. Data were collected through questionnaires designed to measure safety knowledge, attitudes toward safety, risk perception, co-worker influence, and income level. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression to determine the influence of each independent variable on safety riding behavior. The results of the analysis show that safety knowledge, attitudes towards safety, and risk perception have a significant positive influence on safety riding behavior. Apart from that, the influence of co-workers and income did not show a significant influence on safety riding behavior. These findings provide important insights for the development of more effective training programs and safety campaigns, with an emphasis on improving safety knowledge and attitudes and strengthening the positive influence of drivers' risk perceptions. Thus, efforts to improve driving safety among motorcycle taxi drivers can be focused on aspects that are proven to significantly influence safety riding behavior.

Abstract

The Singkil Adiwerna intersection in Tegal Regency with a 2-phase arrangement has the potential to cause accident risks due to traffic conflicts. For this reason, it is necessary to make efforts to arrange phases to reduce traffic conflicts aimed at improving traffic safety by considering intersection performance. The analysis method uses PKJI (2023) method for intersection performance, PTV VISSIM for simulation modeling, and Surrogate Safety Assement Model Software for the number of conflicts. The results of the analysis of 2-phase conditions with a cycle time of 86 seconds have a degree of saturation of 0.60, a queue of 7.09 meters, a delay of 16.72 seconds, an intersection level of service B and a safety level with a conflict value of 452. The application of 3 phases with a cycle time of 100 seconds has a degree of saturation of 1.01, a queue of 14.02 meters, a delay of 32.74 seconds, an intersection level of service C, and a conflict value of 243 with a 46% decrease in conflict value from 2-phase conditions. If the application of 4 phases with a cycle time of 130 seconds has a degree of saturation of 1.27, a queue of 20 meters, a delay of 47.73 seconds, an intersection level of service D, and a conflict value of 104 with a 77% decrease in conflict value from the 2-phase condition. Based on PM 96 of the Ministry of Transportation, judging from the function of the road, namely a secondary collector road with a level of service of at least C, the selection of phase settings and cycle time of the APILL intersection recommends 3 phases with a cycle time of 100 seconds.

Abstract

Law Number 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation establishes safety, security, comfort, and affordability standards for public transportation in Indonesia. There are 5,349 transportation companies operating. In 2021, long-distance buses (AKAP) reached 13,510 units, with a 2.34% increase. Violations in public transportation operations still occur, such as the lack of operating permits, supervision cards, vehicle inspection books, and route deviations. There were 4,266 violations involving buses in 2021. This legal study is an empirical research that analyzes how the law operates within society, including implementation, compliance, and law enforcement. Research data were obtained from BPTD Jambi reports and legal literature, using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. This research discusses transportation implementation provisions, law enforcement, legal accountability, and efforts to optimize public transportation laws. In the administrative area of Jambi city in 2022, 14 transportation units (27%) violated operational legality aspects. Legal consequences for these violations are regulated in Law 22/2009 with criminal provisions. Thus, efforts are needed to enhance the effectiveness of public transportation law enforcement.

Abstract

Evacuation routes are important component during evacuation process, but sometimes the evacuation route conditions are not ready to use for evacuation. The good evacuation route can be seen from various aspects including width, pavement conditions and associated with the load or density during the evacuation process. An evacuation route need to optimize, but it is very difficult, due to time and cost constraints that cause not all available routes become good choices during evacuation. So it is necessary to select a good route for evacuation. In this study, the best evacuation routes are select using AHP method to analyze the priority of evacuation route. The criteria including the shortest distance and pavement conditions. Of the 20 available routes, seven routes are becomes recommended evacuation route. This research provides practical recommendations for improving road conditions and increasing capacity on specific routes to enhance evacuation efficiency in the disaster-prone areas of Merapi.

Abstract

Jalan Margonda Raya is a primary collector road in Depok City that plays a vital role in urban traffic movement. The high volume of vehicles, especially during peak hours, often leads to significant congestion. This study aims to analyze traffic performance on the road segment based on the Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI, 2023) and to evaluate the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in traffic surveys to improve data accuracy and minimize bias commonly found in conventional methods. The survey was conducted on weekdays, and the analysis showed that the highest traffic volume reached 4,161 pcu/hour, with a total vehicle count of 10,465 pcu/hour and an average speed of 31 km/h. The degree of saturation (DS) was recorded at 0.90, indicating a Level of Service (LOS) E—an unstable traffic condition approaching maximum capacity. The peak traffic period occurred between 06:45 and 07:45 AM. The implementation of AI in traffic surveys proved to deliver efficient and reliable results, offering an innovative alternative to support decision-making in transportation planning.

Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of using turpentine oil as an additive in gasoline fuel mixtures on exhaust emissions. Turpentine oil, obtained from pine tree resin, has flammable properties and high oxygen content, which is believed to be able to improve the combustion process in the engine. In this experiment, gasoline was mixed with turpentine oil in various concentrations (0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) and tested on a single-cylinder 4-stroke gasoline engine with engine speeds (1500, 3000, 4500 and 6000) rpm. The emissions analyzed included carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and oxygen (O2). The results showed that the addition of turpentine oil in certain amounts could reduce CO and HC emissions at engine speeds above 4000 rpm due to more perfect combustion, although accompanied by a slight increase in CO2 and O2 emissions at engine speeds above 4000 rpm. Overall, turpentine oil shows potential as an environmentally friendly alternative additive in reducing emission pollution from gasoline fuel.

Abstract

Tires are a vital component of a motor vehicle that serves to minimize vibrations caused by uneven road surfaces, stabilizing the vehicle on the road and facilitating the driver's control over the vehicle's direction. Tire pressure that does not meet standard specifications will affect the braking performance, making it suboptimal, which can result in less effective vehicle braking. This research will discuss the influence of varying wind pressure in tyres on the effective braking distance of Honda Supra X 125 cc motorcycles to prevent accidents caused by tyre blowouts. In this test, the author will compare three (3) variations of tire pressure at the front tire position, namely 20, 29, and 40 Psi. The initial speed of the vehicle in this test is 40 km per hour and 60 km per hour, until the vehicle comes to a stop. This test is limited to dry road surface conditions and the rear tire pressure is kept the same at 33 Psi. From the results of the test, we can conclude that the best (shortest) braking distance at initial speeds of 40 km per hour and 60 km per hour is still better at a tire pressure variation of 29 Psi (in accordance with the guidelines of the manual book or the standards of Honda motorcycle manufacturers).
