Abstract

This research looks at how Papuan students' self-concept creates motivation for themselves to be confident in initiating intercultural communication for the first time. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods with data sources divided into two, namely primary and secondary data sources. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews and secondary data were obtained through researchers' readings. The informants selected were Papuan students who were selected based on purposive sampling techniques. From the results of the research obtained, Papuan students lack trust and lack motivation to carry out intercultural interaction and communication for the first time. Although intercultural communication for the first time has difficulties, thanks to positive indications of self-concept, they are able to reduce and be able to create motivation for themselves to be confident in starting interactions with friends and people around them who have different cultural backgrounds with them.

Abstract

The gender issue in Indonesia remains a major concern to this day, especially among women's activists who advocate for the importance of gender equality. Efforts to achieve this equality have been carried out through women's empowerment, which is done through various training and seminars on gender. Da'wah communication has six principles, one of which is Qaulan Maysura (words that are easy to understand) as mentioned in Surah Al-Isra’ verse 28. The live broadcast of the lecture titled "Feminism in the Islamic Perspective" on the Instagram account @nuonlinejatim, presented by Ning Uswah Syauqi, provides the understanding that Islam has long addressed gender equality through related verses in the Qur'an. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with discourse analysis proposed by Norman Fairclough. Discourse analysis consists of three dimensions: text, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice. The da’wah communication by Ning Uswah Syauqi, based on the analysis, falls into the Qaulan Maysura category, with the material presented based on Qur'anic verses and credible sources, incorporating simple examples so that the material can be easily understood by the audience (mad’u).

Abstract

Indonesia, which is rich in cultural and religious diversity, makes religious tolerance an important pillar to strengthen national unity. This diversity is not only reflected in people's daily lives, but is also an interesting topic that can be explored through various media, including digital media. This research is qualitative research that takes concrete examples from Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel, especially the LogIn podcast, as a means of understanding how religious tolerance is manifested in the content presented to the public. The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of the LogIn podcast in promoting and strengthening interreligious tolerance in Indonesia. The focus of this research is on content analysis, audience response and interaction, as well as the social impact produced by podcasts in the context of religious diversity in Indonesia. The research results show that presenting LogIn content with an inclusive da'wah approach and inter-religious dialogue is effective in reducing racism and intolerance. This inclusive da'wah refers to efforts to open a space for discussion that respects the views of various religions without prioritizing one particular party. This initiative supports the formation of a more harmonious society and respects the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which is the foundation of harmony in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Qur'an as the main source of Islamic communication science studies has verses that teach communicators and communicants in communicating. The Qur'an teaches how communicators build relationships with Allah and human kind, known as hablumminallah and hablumminannas. The success of communication is determined by how the communicator conveys the message. The delivery of the message must have ethics so that communication can take place properly. This research is a literature review that examines surah al-Qashash verses 14-19. In sura al- al-Qashash verses 14-19 Allah swt describes the story of Prophet Moses as in gaining prophetic wisdom. Verses that contain the ethics of Islamic communication with oneself, with Allah ta'ala and with man. This is where surah al-Qashash verses 14-19 become one of the foundations of the study of Islamic communication in ethics or morals.

Abstract

The study aims to explore the influence of parents' credibility on the digital media consumption behavior of Alpha Generation children from a psychological point of view. By adopting psychological theories such as attachment theory and social learning theory, the study identified the relationship between parents' credibility and their children's patterns of digital media consumption. The Alpha generation, the generation born after 2010, grew up in a digital age full of social media and advanced technology. The research method used was a survey method, by distributing questionnaires to Alpha Generation parents to find out their perceptions of their credibility in influencing their children's digital media consumption behavior. Children who think their parents have credibility. The majority of Alpha Generation kids are very active on social media, with most of them using this platform every day. Confidence in parents as sources of information about digital media varies, with about half of respondents believing in their parents, while others are not or feel unsure. It shows an opportunity for parents to increase their credibility in providing information about digital media. Decisions to trust information from parents or peers depend heavily on the topic discussed, which suggests that children tend to look for relevant and credible information depending on the context.

Abstract

Industri media penyiaran di Indonesia terus berkembang pesat, menuntut tenaga kerja yang kompeten dan terampil. Lembaga pendidikan seperti KPI berperan penting dalam menyiapkan lulusan yang siap berkiprah dalam kemajuan industri media penyiaran terkhusus di Makassar. Namun, sejauh ini belum banyak penelitian yang mengkaji secara mendalam tentang peran alumni KPI di media penyiaran di Makassar. Untuk itu, tujuan dan maksud penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis peranan Alumni KPI di media penyiaran serta strategi alumni KPI dalam mempersiapkan diri untuk berkiprah di industri media penyiaran. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Hasil analisis data disajikan ke dalam bentuk uraian narasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah peranan alumni KPI sangat penting karena alumni KPI memiliki basic krusial sehingga membuat para alumni KPI mampu bersaing dibidang industri penyiaran. Adapun faktor pendorong alumni KPI dalam berkiprah diindustri media penyiaran yakni memiliki passion di antaranya kemampuan, kemauan, menguasai tiga skil inti (broadcasting, writing, dan public speaking), dan berani mengambil peluang. Sedangkan penghambatnya yaitu kurang memiliki skill yang baik, persaingan antara wanita yang non berhijab yang lebih didahulukan, kurangnya informasi dan pegetahuan. Namun secara empiris alumni KPI sangat berpengaruh bagi industri dunia penyiaran karena telah mengetahui dan menguasai tiga aspek penting dalam media penyiaran.

Abstract

The development of digital media has changed people's consumption patterns from offline to online shopping, which is increasingly prevalent in the digital era. This article reviews the impact of this shift with a focus on the role of new media in shaping consumer preferences towards online shopping. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method that emphasizes on literature studies. New media provides easy access to information, product reviews, and competitive prices, which makes it easier for consumers to switch to e-commerce platforms. Another visible impact is the decline in foot traffic at physical stores, especially small and medium enterprises that find it difficult to compete in operational costs. This shift has also resulted in the loss of social interaction that generally occurs in physical markets, reducing the relationship between sellers and buyers. In addition, online shopping often encourages consumptive and impulsive behavior due to the ease of access. This study emphasizes the importance of technological adaptation for businesses to remain relevant in the rapidly evolving digital marketplace.

Abstract

The rapid development of communication technology and social media has created significant opportunities for businesses to introduce and market products digitally. This article examines the digital marketing communication strategy implemented by @maktabah_imamsyafii, a publisher and distributor of religious books, which utilizes Instagram as a platform to enhance product recognition and sales. Before transitioning to digital marketing, Maktabah Imam Syafii relied on traditional marketing methods that had limitations in terms of reach and time. Since adopting Instagram in August 2016, they have successfully increased their follower count to 5,000 and experienced a 37% increase in sales. This study employs a qualitative case study approach to identify the factors influencing the success of their digital marketing strategy. The findings show that using Instagram as an interactive and persuasive communication channel has strengthened their relationship with the audience and enhanced customer loyalty. Informative content, attractive promotions such as giveaways and discounts, and a personalized approach in interacting with customers have proven effective in increasing engagement and sales. Despite facing challenges from rapid changes in digital consumption trends, the study emphasizes the importance of adaptive marketing strategies based on data analytics to maintain success in the digital age. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for other businesses in optimizing digital marketing on social media.

Abstract

Instagram is one of the popular platforms that plays an important role in disseminating information quickly and relevantly. The @bestie.genk Instagram account is a platform for disseminating news information with the presentation of informal, brief and detailed language styles making this account has its own appeal. This study aims to analyze how the influence and how much influence Instagram @bestie.genk social media has on fulfilling information needs among digital communication and media students of class 59 SV IPB University. This research uses a quantitative approach method with a questionnaire. Data were obtained from 75 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results showed that Instagram @bestie.genk has a significant influence with a coefficient of determination of 29.3%. This finding shows that this account has a significant role in fulfilling information needs among students. This study concludes that there is a positive influence with increased fulfillment of information needs, which indicates that this account functions effectively as a provider of fast, brief, and relevant information.

Abstract

The Student General Election at the Raden Fatah State Islamic University of Palembang is one of the campus democracy events that not only functions as a means of electing student leaders, but also as a medium to increase active student participation in political activities. Commonly used social media platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook play a very important role in shaping student perceptions of candidates and the overall election process. By using framing theory, this study focuses on how the media frames news related to the Student General Election and its impact on students' political decisions. This study aims to analyze how the framing of news about the student general election at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang influences students' political decisions. By using qualitative methods and a questionnaire of 11 questions, this study found that most students were influenced by the news they received. The results of the data management that has been carried out can be concluded that most students are influenced and some students are not influenced by the news they get either through social media or the special platform of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The research findings show that news framing has a significant impact on students' political decisions.
