Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate AVK (Audio, Visual, Kinesthetic) Game Models based on Technology and Local Wisdom to improve the physical fitness of children aged 6-12 years. The research was carried out for one year using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The analysisstage involved identifying learning needs, dominant learning styles, and the physical fitness conditions of children through observations, interviews, and surveys involving 100 student participants. The design and development stage resulted in four interactive games that integrate physical movement, audio-visual media, and elements of South Sumatra local culture, namely Musi Fort, Palace Jump Rope, Sriwijaya Hide and Seek, and Belida Fish Catch. The design and development stage produced four interactive games that combine physical movement, audio-visual media, and elements of local South Sumatra culture: Musi Fort, Palace Jump Rope Jump, Sriwijaya Hide and Seek, and Belida Fish Catch. The implementation of the model was carried out on 60 students (consisted of 30 males and 30 females), with pretest and posttest measurements of physical fitness using TKSI instruments, as well as observation of student involvement and response. The evaluation stage was conducted after implementation by comparing pre-test and post-test results, supported by observations and questionnaires on students’ and teachers’ responses, with the evaluation results serving as the basis for drawing conclusions regarding the effectiveness and feasibility of the model in elementary school Physical Education learning. The results of the statistical analysis using a paired-sample t-test showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05). The results showed significant improvements in various aspects of physical fitness, namely flexibility (10%), muscle endurance (8%), coordination (10%), agility (8%), and cardiopulmonary endurance (9%). In addition, 91% of students showed a positive response to this learning model, and teachers considered this media to be effective and support the integration of local wisdom values. In conclusion, the AVK Game Model based on Technology and Local Wisdom has been proven to be effective in improving physical fitness, motivating students’ active participation, and strengthening appreciation for local culture. This model deserves to be used as an innovative alternative in Physical Education learning in elementary schools, which brings together technology, multiple intelligences, and local wisdom values in a fun and contextual way.

Abstract

Background. Positive mental health is increasingly recognized as an educational resource in physical education; however, previous school-based studies often report mental health as a total score or a problem indicator and rarely show whether emotional, social, and psychological well-being form a useful profile for instructional decision-making. Objectives. This study evaluated the psychometric feasibility and dimensional profile of the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) in a senior high school physical education context. Method. A quantitative descriptive-psychometric design was applied using purposive school-based sampling. Instrument try-out involved 84 students, whereas the main profiling analysis involved 248 students from grades X and XI at Pamekasan 1 State Senior High School. Data were collected through a school-administered survey using the fourteen-item MHC-SF, which measures emotional, social, and psychological well-being. Analysis included item-total correlation, corrected item-total correlation, Cronbach’s alpha, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index, Bartlett’s test, exploratory eigenvalue inspection, descriptive statistics, and non-parametric group comparisons. Results. The instrument showed adequate feasibility: all items contributed positively, total-scale reliability was strong, and the item matrix was suitable for dimensional interpretation. Emotional well-being (M = 4.39 per item) and psychological well-being (M = 4.40 per item) were higher than social well-being (M = 3.48 per item). Significant but small differences appeared in social well-being by gender, psychological well-being by grade, and total and social well-being by age. Conclusion. The MHC-SF can support school-based positive mental health profiling, especially by identifying social well-being as a practical target for inclusive grouping, cooperative learning, peer support, and counselling coordination in physical education.

Abstract

Learning specific motor skills faces significant challenges due to differing goal orientations between school physical education and club performance coaching, resulting in varied efficacy of instructional methods. Therefore, this study aims to systematically identify, evaluate, and compare trends in the most effective pedagogical approaches for facilitating specific motor skill acquisition between physical education teachers and sports coaches. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this systematic review evaluated 116 primary empirical articles (2017-2026) from six major databases. Data were analyzed thematically based on study characteristics, interventions, and motor skill outcomes. The empirical synthesis reveals distinct pedagogical tendencies with substantial overlap. In schools, teachers predominantly utilize Classroom Action Research relying on cognitive-social approaches to resolve classical movement failures. Conversely, club coaches rely on controlled experiments through repetition manipulation and tactical simulations to precisely automate athletes' discrete muscle memory. In conclusion, motor skill pedagogy effectiveness depends on objective calibration, prioritizing socio-academic participation in schools versus competitive mechanical accuracy in clubs. These findings provide educators and coaches with evidence-based insights to select targeted interventions.
