Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of reason (ʿaql) and revelation (waḥy) from an Islamic perspective and to examine its relevance to the development of holistic Islamic education. The study is motivated by the growing dichotomy between religious and secular sciences, which has led to the fragmentation of knowledge, moral crises, and an imbalance between intellectual and spiritual development in contemporary education. This research employs a library research method with a content analysis approach. Primary sources include the works of Al-Ghazali, Ibn Rushd, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, and Fazlur Rahman, while secondary sources consist of relevant scholarly books and journal articles. The findings reveal that reason and revelation are complementary sources of knowledge within Islamic epistemology. Reason functions as an instrument for understanding reality and developing knowledge through rational inquiry, whereas revelation provides moral guidance, values, and ultimate purpose for the application of knowledge. Their integration produces a holistic epistemological paradigm capable of overcoming the dichotomy of knowledge and situating scientific inquiry within a tawḥidic framework. Furthermore, this paradigm is highly relevant to the development of Islamic education, particularly in shaping educational goals, curriculum design, learning processes, the role of educators, and evaluation systems that integrate intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social dimensions. Therefore, the integration of reason and revelation offers a conceptual foundation for developing a more balanced, humanistic, and context-responsive model of holistic Islamic education.

Abstract

Economic growth is one of the main indicators used to assess the success of economic development. However, Indonesia's economy experienced a contraction in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected investment activities and labor absorption. This study aimed to analyze the effect of investment and labor on Indonesia's economic growth during the period 2015–2020, both partially and simultaneously. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design using annual time series secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), preceded by classical assumption tests. The results showed that investment had a positive coefficient, while labor had a negative coefficient on economic growth. However, partially, investment and labor did not have a significant effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, both variables also did not significantly affect Indonesia's economic growth during the study period. These findings indicate that economic growth is influenced by various factors beyond investment and labor.

Abstract

Physics learning on the topic of work and energy has great potential to be contextualized through real-life activities and environmental issues. However, current learning practices tend to be abstract, teacher-centered, and have not optimally integrated environmental literacy. This study aims to develop an edutainment-based learning medium utilizing the traditional boi-boi an game integrated with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the topic of work and energy, as well as to determine the feasibility and implementation of the developed media. This study employed a limited Research and Development (R&D) method by adapting a simplified Borg and Gall development model. The research stages included needs analysis, product design, initial product development, expert validation, product revision, and limited-scale field testing. Validation was conducted by physics content experts and environmental education experts. Limited-scale testing involved four participants to observe the implementation of the module. The results of expert validation indicated that the learning module was categorized as feasible for use with revisions. The results of the limited-scale trial showed that the module could be implemented according to the designed learning scenario and that the boi-boi an game activities could be carried out effectively. Therefore, the edutainment-based learning media utilizing the traditional boi-boi an game integrated with the PBL model is considered feasible on a limited basis for teaching the topic of work and energy and has the potential to support environmental literacy. Further research involving larger-scale trials is required to comprehensively examine the effectiveness of the learning media.

Abstract

Early reading ability is a crucial cognitive foundation for lower-grade elementary school students, but its acquisition is often suboptimal due to conventional passive learning paradigms. This study aims to investigate the effect of active learning strategies assisted by syllable card media on the early reading skills of first and second-grade elementary school students. This quantitative study utilized a quasi-experimental design. The research instruments were systematically validated through expert judgment by 5 peers and empirically tested on a field sample of 30 students. Evaluation of instrument quality integrated Classical Test Theory (SPSS) and Modern Test Theory via the Rasch Model using Ministep 5.1.5.2 software. Content validation yielded an Aiken's V index ranging from 0.67 to 0.93, confirming that all structural items were valid. Inter-rater reliability analysis demonstrated a high level of internal consistency with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.805, robustly supported by a Fleiss' Kappa coefficient of 0.684, which indicates a substantial and statistically significant agreement among raters (p = 0.000). Furthermore, the modern Rasch analysis verified measurement stability with a Person Reliability index of 0.71 and an Item Reliability index of 0.74, with all item parameters classified as fit within the measurement model (Infit/Outfit MNSQ ranges of 0.82–1.28). In conclusion, the developed assessment model meets strict psychometric standards, and the implementation of active learning significantly accelerates basic literacy acquisition in the foundational phase of primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the process of internalizing the character values of enthusiasm and optimism through Gambyong dance learning at Sanggar Wayang Gogon, identify the supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate follow-up efforts for program development oriented toward improving artistic quality, career prospects, and the sustainability of the studio as a center of cultural education. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with an ethnographic strategy. The research subjects included the studio manager, dance instructors, and students participating in Gambyong dance learning. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested using source and technique triangulation. The findings show that the internalization of enthusiasm and optimism occurred through three stages: value transformation, value transaction, and transinternalization. Value transformation was carried out through the introduction of the philosophical meanings of Gambyong dance movements. Value transaction was evident in disciplined training habits, positive interactions between instructors and students, and the instructors’ role modeling. Transinternalization was reflected in students’ self-confidence, perseverance in practice, willingness to perform, and cheerful expressions during performances. Supporting factors included students’ motivation, a conducive studio environment, and opportunities to perform, while inhibiting factors included age differences, limited training time, and activities outside the studio. Mastery of character values increased by 25%–40% after regular training. Overall, Gambyong dance learning was effective in strengthening national cultural identity through cultivating enthusiasm and optimism in students’ daily behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the internal and external factors influencing the growth of students’ speaking skills among active members of an English Club. Guided by three theoretical frameworks, Willingness to Communicate (WTC), Complex Dynamic Systems Theory (CDST), and the Sociocognitive Approach this study examines how internal factors such as motivation, confidence, anxiety, personal interests, and future plans interact with external factors including peer support, teacher feedback, learning environment, family support, and exposure to English outside school. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study collected data through a questionnaire and focus group discussions. The findings show that the interaction of internal factors, such as motivation, confidence, and emotional readiness, and external factors, including peer support, teacher feedback, and English Club environment, influences students’ speaking development. Rather than relying on a single factor, students’ willingness to speak increases when favorable affective conditions are supported by a low-pressure and interactive learning context. Overall, the English Club serves as a supportive space that encourages meaningful interaction and helps students develop speaking skills beyond the formal classroom

Abstract

Islamic civilization in the Indonesian archipelago resulted from a gradual process of Islamization, which took place through trade, da'wah, education, marriage, Sufism, and politics. Unlike other regions where Islam spread through military expansion, Islamization in the Indonesian archipelago developed peacefully, prioritizing a cultural approach, enabling adaptation to local traditions. This study aims to analyze the historiography of the arrival of Islam in the Indonesian archipelago, examine the contribution of Islamic civilization in politics, education, and culture, and explain the acculturation process between Islamic teachings and local culture that shaped the characteristics of Indonesian Islam. This study used a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach. Data were obtained through literature studies sourced from books, scientific journals, historical documents, and relevant academic literature. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and systematic drawing of conclusions. The results show that the process of Islamization in the Indonesian archipelago was influenced by various channels, especially trade, Sufism, and education. Islam then formed a new political system through the birth of Islamic sultanates that integrated sharia with customary law. Furthermore, traditional educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), dayah (dayah), and surau (prayer houses) developed, serving as centers for the transmission of Islamic knowledge. This acculturation resulted in distinctive cultural forms such as the Jawi and Pegon scripts, Islamic-influenced wayang art, mosque architecture, and religious traditions that maintained local values without diminishing the fundamental principles of Islamic teachings. Thus, Islamic civilization in the archipelago demonstrated a moderate, adaptive, and inclusive character, capable of building an Islamic identity that harmonized with the cultural diversity of Indonesian society.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the concept of the axiology of science through the integration of ethical values and moral responsibility within modern scientific practice, as a response to the problem of scientific neutrality and the negative impacts of the development of science and technology. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, analyzing primary and secondary sources in the philosophy of science, ethics, and relevant contemporary thought. Data analysis is conducted using descriptive-analytical and critical methods to identify the limitations of classical axiological paradigms and to formulate a more integrative conceptual framework. The findings indicate that the paradigm of value-neutral science is no longer relevant in the modern context, thereby necessitating a reconstruction of axiology that positions ethics as an inherent foundation in both the production and application of scientific knowledge. The integration of ethics and the moral responsibility of scientists is essential to ensure that science is oriented toward human welfare and the sustainability of life. Thus, the reconstruction of the axiology of science contributes to the development of a more humane, responsible, and civilized scientific practice.
