Abstract

The dynamic development of the times demands a paradigm shift in religious education so that it no longer becomes trapped in monotonous, doctrinal-textual memorization methods, but instead transforms toward more meaningful learning. This study aims to analyze the urgency, forms of transformation, and impact of implementing the Student Centered Learning (SCL) strategy in reconstructing the quality of Religious Education learning in schools. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through a literature study approach and comparative conceptual analysis of relevant academic sources. The research results show that the implementation of SCL through problem-based learning, inquiry, and role-playing models has been proven to significantly enhance the internalization of religious values in a deep, autonomous, and contextual manner in students. In conclusion, the transformation from Teacher Centered Learning to Student Centered Learning is not merely a technical-methodological change, but an urgent philosophical necessity to shape students' character to be critical, tolerant, and possess a balanced sense of social piety in the modern era.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia underwent significant changes due to the intervention of Dutch and Japanese colonial powers, which, according to educational colonialism theory, should have weakened its institutional existence, yet in reality demonstrated remarkable resilience. This study aims to comparatively analyze the political policies of Dutch and Japanese colonial rule toward Islamic education, as well as to reveal the survival strategies and cultural resistance of Islamic educational institutions amid the pressures of both regimes. The research employed a library research method, examining various literature sources such as scientific journals and relevant prior studies, with data analyzed qualitatively-descriptively through identification, comparison, and synthesis across sources. The results show that the Dutch implemented a repressive approach through regulations such as the Teacher Ordinance and the Wild School Ordinance, which restricted the operations of pesantren and madrasahs, while Japan displayed a superficial leniency that remained oriented toward wartime propaganda interests. Despite facing different structural pressures, Islamic educational institutions managed to survive through networks of ulama, community solidarity, and curriculum flexibility, thereby functioning as both educational institutions and bases of cultural resistance and collective Muslim identity. These findings are relevant to the formulation of fairer and more inclusive education policies, in line with the achievement of SDG 4.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of dhikr and inner peace, as well as to analyze the relationship between the two from a psychological-educational perspective. Field findings indicate that individuals who consistently practice dhikr exhibit greater emotional stability compared to the theoretical ideal, which suggests that such stability should require a longer and more complex process, thereby revealing a gap worth further investigation. This study employs a qualitative approach using a field research design, through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, analyzed using an interactive analysis model and strengthened through source and method triangulation. The results show that dhikr functions as a psychological-educational habituation process that gradually shapes emotional regulation and reflective thinking patterns, rather than occurring instantly. The relationship between the intensity of dhikr and inner peace is reciprocal, where the quality of mindful engagement in dhikr also determines its effectiveness in fostering mental stability. These findings contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, particularly in the area of mental health and psychological well-being, while offering an integrative model between spiritual values and educational processes as an alternative approach to sustainably strengthening mental health.

Abstract

Writing is one of the most complex language skills because it requires students to apply spelling rules accurately and consistently. This study aims to describe the forms of writing errors made by fifth-grade students of the Digital Class at MIN 4 Kota Lhokseumawe, to identify the factors that cause these errors, and to describe the efforts made by the teacher to correct them. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the class teacher, and documentation of 17 students' procedural texts, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation as well as member checking. The results show that 133 writing errors were found and classified into five categories: spelling errors (41 errors, 30.8%), punctuation errors (26 errors, 19.5%), non-standard word errors (25 errors, 18.8%), capitalization errors (22 errors, 16.5%), and preposition errors (19 errors, 14.3%). The errors were caused by internal factors, such as low motivation to reread written work and limited reading habits, and external factors, such as habitual use of informal spoken Indonesian and heavy exposure to digital chat abbreviations, which proved more influential than regional language interference. The teacher has made various efforts, including direct explanation, direct and indirect correction, corrective feedback, habituating self-checking, and continuous writing practice, although these efforts still need to be intensified and integrated with literacy habituation at school and at home.

Abstract

A learning process that relies only on the lecture method makes learning less engaging for students, which contributes to students' low beginning reading ability. This research aimed to determine the effect of using picture word card media on the beginning reading ability of first-grade students at SD Negeri 42 Pekanbaru. This research is quantitative research with a pre-experimental type, using a one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 29 students of class I.D, selected through a saturated sampling technique. The data collection techniques used were tests, observation, and documentation. The instrument was tested for content validity, item validity, and reliability before use. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test, which had previously been tested for normality using the Shapiro-Wilk formula. The results of the research show that there is an effect of using picture word card media on the beginning reading ability of class I students at SD Negeri 42 Pekanbaru. The average score increased from 47.686 in the pretest to 83.252 in the posttest. The results of the Paired Sample t-Test show that the value tcount = 26.978 > ttable = 2.048 with a significance of 0.000, which is smaller than the 5% significance level (0.000 < 0.05). This proves that there is a significant effect of using picture word card media on the beginning reading ability of class I students at SD Negeri 42 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Reading literacy is a fundamental skill that should be developed from the elementary school level, as it serves as the foundation for students to understand information, acquire knowledge, and participate effectively in the learning process. However, many students still face difficulties in recognizing new vocabulary, understanding word meanings, and connecting information obtained from reading materials. This condition highlights the need for instructional media that can support literacy activities in an engaging manner and align with the characteristics of elementary school learners. This study aimed to describe the utilization of a trigger vocabulary board as an effort to strengthen the reading literacy of second-grade students at SDIT Al-Mahmud. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The participants consisted of 20 second-grade students and one classroom teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the use of the trigger vocabulary board helped students recognize and understand new vocabulary more easily through activities such as reading, observing, pronouncing, and applying words in simple sentences. The media also encouraged students to participate more actively in classroom learning, increased their interest in reading, and enhanced their confidence in presenting their learning outcomes. In addition, the vocabulary board assisted teachers in creating a more interactive, engaging, and meaningful learning environment. Although several students still required more intensive guidance in reading activities, the overall implementation of the trigger vocabulary board contributed positively to the improvement of students’ reading literacy. Therefore, this media can be considered an effective alternative for supporting sustainable literacy programs in elementary schools.
