Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the creativity and economic independence of housewives in RT 008, Tangkit Village, through training on how to independently produce liquid dishwashing soap. The program was initiated based on the lack of knowledge and practical skills among housewives in creating household cleaning products, despite their high interest in learning simple and economical production techniques. This activity employed a descriptive library research approach by collecting theoretical references related to raw materials, their functions, and formulation steps, which were later used as the basis for educational activities. The implementation consisted of interviews with community representatives, coordination with local authorities, and direct demonstrations involving participants. A total of 25 housewives participated in the hands-on workshop, where they learned the functions of key materials such as SLES, NaCl, Sodium Sulfate, EDTA, Ambithol, fragrances, and colorants, as well as the proper mixing techniques. The practice produced several bottles of liquid dishwashing soap with stable texture and clarity after overnight settling. The results indicate that participants were enthusiastic, able to follow the process well, and showed increased motivation to practice the production at home. Some participants even expressed interest in developing the product as a potential home-based business. Overall, the program succeeded in increasing knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial awareness among housewives in RT 008 Tangkit Village.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of excessive gadget use on the learning motivation of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Kandangan. The overuse of gadgets among elementary school students can lead to various negative effects, including physical, psychological, and social consequences. Physically, excessive gadget use may cause sleep disturbances, vision problems, and a lack of physical activity, which can affect children’s health and fitness. Psychologically, students may experience decreased concentration, emotional instability, and gadget addiction, leading to a decline in motivation and enthusiasm for learning. Socially, excessive gadget use reduces students’ interactions with peers and family, which affects their social and emotional development. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques such as direct observation, in-depth interviews with students, teachers, and parents, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of the effects of gadget overuse. Observations were conducted in the school environment to assess gadget usage patterns and behavioral changes, while interviews explored students’ learning experiences and the supervision efforts by schools and families. The results showed that uncontrolled gadget use had a significant negative impact on students’ learning motivation, particularly in reducing focus, discipline, and interest in learning. However, with proper management and supervision from teachers and parents, gadgets can also serve as effective interactive learning tools that enhance motivation and creativity. This study recommends establishing healthy gadget usage schedules, selecting educational content, and strengthening coordination between schools and parents to ensure that gadgets are used productively to support a healthy, engaging, and effective learning process

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Educational Psychology plays a strategic role in shaping the Islamic character of students because it views humans as beings with physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions. This article aims to examine the concepts, roles, and strategies of Islamic Educational Psychology as a pillar in shaping the Islamic character of students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, sourced from the Qur'an, Hadith, and various scientific literature in the form of books and journals relevant to the themes of educational psychology and Islamic character education. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation studies, while data analysis used descriptive-analytical methods. The results of the study show that Islamic Educational Psychology contributes significantly to shaping Islamic character through an understanding of the psychological development of students, the instilling of the values of monotheism, the habit of worship, the exemplary behavior of educators, individual and humanistic approaches, and the integration of Islamic values in the learning process. In addition, the role of educators as agents of character building is a key factor in instilling moral, spiritual, and social values in students. Thus, Islamic Educational Psychology can serve as a conceptual and practical foundation for shaping students who are not only intellectually superior, but also have an Islamic personality with good character and are able to face the challenges of education in the modern era.

Abstract

Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) is a tropical plant from the Myrtaceae family widely used in Indonesian traditional medicine. This study aimed to identify secondary metabolite compounds in bay leaf extract through phytochemical screening and evaluate its antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Bay leaf extract was prepared using the maceration method with 96% ethanol. Phytochemical screening was conducted to detect alkaloids, phenolics, flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, and saponins using standard reagents. Antibacterial activity was tested using the agar well diffusion method at concentrations of 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%, with chloramphenicol (25 mg) as positive control and 96% ethanol as negative control. Results showed that bay leaf extract contained all tested secondary metabolites. The antibacterial activity test demonstrated inhibition zones of 3.25 mm (20%), 4.05 mm (30%), 6.01 mm (40%), and 6.56 mm (50%), indicating weak to moderate activity. Statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA showed significant differences between concentrations (p < 0.05), with higher concentrations producing larger inhibition zones. The positive control showed strong activity (22.31 mm), while the negative control showed no inhibition. This study confirms that bay leaf extract possesses antibacterial potential against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, with activity increasing proportionally to extract concentration, attributed to synergistic effects of multiple bioactive compounds including flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, and alkaloids.

Abstract

This study examines the distribution patterns and ecological characteristics of four endemic species of West Papua—birds-of-paradise, cuscus, epiphytic orchids, and matoa—based on secondary data from the IUCN Red List and other biodiversity resources. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research synthesizes scientific literature, conservation reports, and spatial information to describe how biogeographical factors in the Australasian region shape endemism in Papua Barat. Data on habitat type, elevation ranges, ecological preferences, and conservation status were analyzed to identify distribution tendencies across major ecological zones such as lowland forests, montane areas, wetlands, mangrove ecosystems, and karst landscapes. The results highlight that each species occupies distinct ecological niches, with variations influenced by forest structure, microclimate, and environmental conditions. The study also identifies major threats—including habitat modification, land-use change, hunting pressure, and ecosystem degradation—which continue to affect population stability and habitat availability. Overall, this research provides an updated synthesis of ecological and distributional information to support conservation understanding of West Papua’s endemic flora and fauna, emphasizing the importance of monitoring and management in regions undergoing rapid landscape transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze multicultural education and the challenges of diversity in Indonesia through a literature review approach. Indonesia, as a country with ethnic, cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity, faces complex social challenges, such as intolerance, stereotypes, and horizontal conflicts that impact the world of education. Multicultural education is seen as an important strategy in building social integration, strengthening tolerance, and instilling values of justice and equality. Through a review of literature from journals, books, and education policy documents, this study reveals that the sociological basis of multicultural education lies in the function of education as an agent of socialization, cultural inheritance, and social transformation. The implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia has been developed through inclusive curricula, learning methods, and school environments, despite structural and cultural obstacles. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening policies and the commitment of all parties to ensure that multicultural education runs effectively as an effort to build a harmonious society in diversity.
