Abstract

Lumbosacral lateral projection radiography, particularly of the fifth lumbar vertebra (L5) and Sacrum, often experiences a decrease in contrast due to exposure factors and object thickness. This study aims to analyze the variation in the Virtual Grid ratio of 8:1, 10:1, and 12:1 in lateral projection sacrum examinations using the Pixel Value indicator. This descriptive quantitative study was conducted in May–June 2025 at the Radiography and Physics Laboratory, Department of Radiodiagnostic and Radiotherapy Technology, Jakarta II Polytechnic. The sample consisted of lateral sacrum images with three grid ratio variations. Analysis was performed on the average Pixel Value, followed by statistical testing using SPSS 27 with the One-Way ANOVA method. The results showed the average Pixel Value: 8:1 ratio at 150.94; 10:1 ratio at 150.46; and 12:1 ratio at 152.75 with P>0.05, indicating no significant difference between the grid ratio variations.

Abstract

Early detection of a high risk of pregnancy is crucial to prevent serious complications for the mother and fetus. However, the main challenge in pregnant women's health services in various regions is the low early detection rate. Factors such as education level, knowledge about pregnancy health, and access to health services are suspected to affect low awareness and preventive measures in pregnant women. This study aims to analyze the influence of these factors on the early detection of pregnancy risk using a cross-sectional quantitative approach with 103 pregnant women at the Tirto I Health Center, Pekalongan Regency, through a chi-square test. The findings showed a significant relationship between knowledge level (p-value 0.001), education (p-value 0.021), and health insurance ownership (p-value 0.017) on early detection of pregnancy risk. It is hoped that health workers can improve education and access to services to improve early detection of pregnancy risks.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is a condition of long-term undernutrition in pregnant women, indicated by a mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) of less than 23.5 cm, and poses risks to both maternal and fetal health. One of the government strategies to address this issue is the provision of locally based supplementary food (Local Supplementary Feeding). However, most previous studies have predominantly employed quantitative approaches and focused on program coverage, while in-depth case-based analyses at the primary health care level remain limited. This study aimed to describe changes in the nutritional status of pregnant women with CED before and after receiving Local Supplementary Feeding in the working area of Pekanbaru City Primary Health Center in 2024. A qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design was applied to three pregnant women with CED from August 2024 to May 2025. Data were collected through interviews and secondary data from the e-PPGBM system. The results showed an increase in body weight ranging from 5.5 to 12.95 kg and an increase in MUAC of 1–2 cm. However, one case of low birth weight was still observed, indicating the need to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of Local Supplementary Feeding interventions.

Abstract

The endorphin, oxytocin, and suggestive massage stimulation (SPEOS) method is used as a non-pharmacological technique to increase breast milk production by combining 3 techniques, namely touching or stroking techniques around the neck, back, arms and massage techniques along the vertebrae to the costae bones. The SPEOS method is applied to post-Caesarean Section patients in the first 24 hours (minimum 6 hours), which is done once a day with a duration of 15 minutes for 3 consecutive days with an evaluation in the form of measuring breast milk production from pumping results for 15 minutes on each. The results of the application of the SPEOS method show an increase in breast milk production, especially on the third day. The SPEOS method is effective in increasing breast milk production, useful for stimulating the hormones oxytocin and prolactin, providing a sense of comfort and relaxation and fostering confidence in mothers regarding breast milk so that it can flow smoothly and meet the baby's needs. Conclusion: The application of the SPEOS method can increase breast milk production in post-Caesarean Section patients.

Abstract

Matoa bark (Pometia pinnata J.R. Forst. & G. Forst) has long been used traditionally as a remedy for various ailments such as fever, skin disorders, infections, and inflammation. This study aims to determine the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of matoa bark extract obtained through successive maceration using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 96% ethanol. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids. The results showed that the 96% ethanol extract had the highest total phenolic content at 169.804 mg GAE/g, followed by the ethyl acetate extract at 97.647 mg GAE/g, and the n-hexane extract at 52.549 mg GAE/g. Antioxidant activity tested using the DPPH method indicated that the ethanol extract exhibited the strongest activity with an IC₅₀ value of 92.593 μg/mL (strong category), followed by the ethyl acetate extract at 121.695 μg/mL (moderate category), and the n-hexane extract at 187.393 μg/mL (weak category). This study shows the role of polar solvents in increasing antioxidant activity and total phenolic content.
