Abstract

Mango Bacang leaves and bay leaves are plants that can be used as ingredients in traditional medicine as natural antibacterials which are believed to help get rid of acne. Several previous studies also reported that Bacang mango leaves and bay leaves have activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi bacteria. This study aims to determine the evaluation results of peel-off gel mask preparations that meet the requirements. The test methods include organoleptic test, pH test, viscosity, homogeneity test and dispersion test. The test results showed that F1 and F2 were the best formulas with the characteristics of a green-black gel, a characteristic odor of mango Bacang and bay leaves, a viscosity of 1129 cPs and 1135 cPs, pH 4.4 and 4.5. The dispersion test was 5.1 cm and 5.7 cm and the homogeneity test on the peel off gel mask was homogeneous, there were no fibers, lumps or differences in color when applied to a transparent slide.

Abstract

Infectious diseases are still a serious problem, and it is important to increase other sources of antimicrobial drugs from natural ingredients, one of which is the pidada plant. This research aims to determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds found in pidada leaves and determine the inhibitory power of pidada leaf extract against the bacteria Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This type of research is a real experimental laboratory with a maceration extraction method using 96% ethanol solvent and antibacterial testing using the well diffusion method with variations in extract concentration of 80%, 60%, 40% and 20%. The research results show that the extract contains flavonoids, phenolic compounds, saponins, tannins and steroids. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that there was an inhibitory power at a concentration of 80%, namely Bacillus subtilis bacteria of 19.13 mm in the intermediate category and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria of 17.18 mm in the intermediate category. The results showed that the ethanol extract of pidada leaves can inhibit the growth of Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.

Abstract

Diare dapat terjadi akibat dari konsumsi makanan maupun minuman yang terkontaminasi oleh bakteri, virus, atau parasit. Mayoritas penderita diare adalah anak berusia dibawah lima tahun (balita) dengan prevalensi sebesar 12,2%. Penyakit diare dapat berakibat fatal apabila penderita diare mengalami dehidrasi berat. Pemberian bubur tempe kepada penderita diare ini dapat mempersingkat durasi diare akut serta mempercepat pertambahan berat badan setelah menderita diare akut. Diare masih menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan anak khususnya didaerah pesisir dan dapat menimbulkan kejadian luar biasa. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pendidikan kesehatan pada masyarakat dalam menanganani kasus kejadian diare pada balita serta pembuatan makanan tambahan berbahan tempe yang mengandung tinggi protein, asam amino serta prebiotik dan probiotik. Metode yang digunakan dikemas dalam bentuk pendidikan kesehatan beserta cara pembuatan pembuatan bubur tempe sebagai makan tambahan dalam penanganan diare. Hasil didapatkan setelah dilakukan Pemberian pendidikan kesehatan tentang penanganan diare dengan pemberian bubur tempe telah membuktikan bahwa pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat meningkat.

Abstract

Mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) is a plant from the Thymelaeceae family. This plant contains several active compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, saponins, and tannins, so it has potential as a herbal medicine in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the toxicity of the leaves of the god crown using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. Extraction of the god crown leaves using 96% ethanol solvent with the maceration method was then carried out a phytochemical screening which showed that the sample of the crown god leaf contained alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, saponins and tannins. Toxicity testing of the ethanol extract of Mahkota Dewa leaves on Artemia salina Leach larvae was divided into 5 test groups, namely 4 treatment groups (concentrations of 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm, and 1000 ppm) and 1 control or comparison group (seawater). Each concentration was made in 3 vials including 10 Artemia salina Leach larvae. Observations were made by looking at the death of Artemia salina Leach larvae after 24 hours of treatment. The research results can be seen through probit analysis by calculating the LC50 value. The LC50 value of the ethanol extract of Mahkota Dewa leaves was 7,7090 /mL. This shows that the ethanol extract of Mahkota Dewa leaves has a toxic effect on Artemia salina Leach larvae because the LC50 value is <1000 ppm.

Abstract

Along with increasing life expectancy, the community tries to find solutions to health problems. One of the health problems that occur in humans is caused by fungi. Candida albicans is one of the fungi that can be found in humans. Candida albicans are normal flora in the vagina, digestive tract, and oral cavity. Nevertheless, it can change into a pathogen and cause changes in the host. Based on compound contained in leaf of mango bacang and leaf of bidara, they have antifungal effect. This study aims to determine the antifungal activity of single ethanol extract of mango bacang leaves and bidara leaves with a combination of bidara leaves ethanol extract and ethanol extract of mango bacang leaves against Candida albicans. The method of this study begins with collecting mango bacang leaves and bidara leaves then extracted maceration with ethanol solvents. The antifungal activity is tested with the disk diffusion method using potato dextrose media. Based on the results of the hypothesis test obtained a significance value of 0.010 <0.05, there was a difference in the diameter of the inhibition zone against the growth of Candida albicans due to a single giving and variations in the combination of ethanol mango bacang leaves and bidara leaves ethanol extract. Extract single antifungal activity after combined experienced a minimum increase of 1.2%. The conclusion of this study shows that the combination of ethanol extract of bacang mango leaves with bidara leaves ethanol extract has a larger inhibiting zone than a single extract and shows the synergy effect. The use of bacang mango leaves as anti-fungal is recommended in combination with bidara leaves.

Abstract

Pada remaja, kasus penyakit infeksi atau penyakit yang disebabkan oleh mikroorganisme umumnya merupakan penyakit yang terjadi di masyarakat. Salah satunya adalah jerawat, Bakteri yang dapat memicu terjadinya inflamasi pada jerawat adalah Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epiderimidis. Kombucha dilaporkan memiliki aktivitas antimikroba terhadap bakteri patogen gram positif dan gram negatif. Khasiat kombucha sebagai antibakteri, antikanker, dan antioksidan sangat membuka peluang untuk dikembangkan sebagai bahan aktif pada produk kesehatan. Dengan adanya penambahan Strawberry dan bunga asoka yang menggandung senyawa fenolik dan flavonoid pada stroberi dan bunga asoka mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri akibat terganggunya proses DNA, rusaknya membran sel serta terjadinya denaturasi protein pada bakteri. Tujuan kegiatan ini dilakukan untuk mewujudkan Inovasi dan memicu kreatifitas Siswa dalam membuat sediaan berupa gel yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri patogen kulit. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada siswa di Siswa/i SMA dan SMK Plus Terpadu Pekanbaru dengan metode sosialisasi dan media audio visual. Evaluasi yang diberikan kepada peserta berupa pretest, posttest dan tanya jawab. Terlihat adanya terjadi peningkatan nilai dari Pretest dan Posttest. Dengan kegiatan ini siswa di SMA dan SMK Plus Terpadu Pekanbaru mendapat pengetahuan baru tentang pengembangan bahan alam dalam sediaan.

Abstract

Avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.) contain bioactive compounds that can aid in the wound healing process by reducing the number of neutrophils. This study aims to determine the effect of avocado leaf ethanol extract ointment on healing cuts on the back skin of white mice (Mus musculus ) strain Balbc. The study was based on a laboratory experimental design with a post-test control group. The research subjects included 5 male white mice for each treatment group. The treatment groups used extract concentrations in ointment preparations of K15%, K35%, and K45%, with a negative control (Vaseline) and a positive control (Gentamicin). The cuts were made by injuring the back skin along a length of 15 mm and a depth of 2 mm. Observations of wound length measurements were conducted from day 0 to day 14. The research data were analyzed statistically using One-Way ANOVA, followed by Duncan's Post Hoc test. The results showed that the most effective group was K45%, , which achieved complete wound healing within 12 days.

Abstract

The matoa plant (Pometia pinnata J.R.Forst & G.Forst) is an Indonesian plant that has many benefits, one of which is as an antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds found in matoa leaves and test their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphlococcus epidermidis bacteria. The extraction method used in this study is the maceration method using ethanol as a solvent and antibacterial activity testing using the disc diffusion method. Secondary metabolites found in matoa leaves extract are flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids. The antibacterial activity of matoa leaf ethanol extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria at concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% obtained an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 11.0 mm; 11.4 mm; 11.0 mm and 13.3 mm. Then the average diameter of the inhibition zone in Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria was 13.2 mm; 14.0 mm; 13.9 mm and 14.1 mm This study proves that matoa leaves have a strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphlococcus epidermidis bacteria.

Abstract

Tenggek Burung (Euodia redlevi) merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Rutaceae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui senyawa yang terkandung dan potensi toksisitas dari daun tenggek burung dengan menggunakan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Proses ekstraksi daun tenggek burung menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dengan metode maserasi, kemudian dilakukan skrining fitokimia yang menunjukkan sampel daun tenggek burung mengandung senyawa flavonoid, steroid, saponin dan tanin. Pengujian toksisitas ekstrak etanol daun tenggek burung terhadap larva Artemia salina Leach dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok uji yaitu 4 kelompok perlakuan (konsentrasi 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm, dan 1000 ppm) dan 1 kelompok kontrol atau pembanding (air laut). Masing-masing konsentrasi dibuat dalam 3 vial yang dimasukkan 10 ekor larva Artemia salina Leach. Pengamatan dilakukan dengan melihat kematian larva Artemia salina Leach setelah perlakuan selama 24 jam. Hasil penelitian dapat dilihat melalui analisa probit dengan menghitung nilai LC50. Nilai LC50 dari ekstrak etanol daun tenggek burung adalah 161,559 ppm. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun tenggek burung memiliki efek toksik terhadap larva Artemia salina Leach karena nilai LC50 <1000 ppm.

Abstract

Background: The reduction of stunting incidence starts with attention to health and balanced nutrition for prospective mothers beginning in their teenage years. Balanced nutrition refers to a daily food composition that contains nutrients in the right types and amounts according to the body's needs, considering the principle of food diversity. In Indonesia, knowledge and behavior regarding the consumption of balanced nutrition based on four pillars food diversity, clean living behaviors, and maintaining normal weight are still low. (2) The objective of this activity is to enhance the knowledge of female adolescents at the Tahfizul Qur’an pesantren regarding balanced nutrition. (3) Method: The methods used in this activity include socialization and education through health themed tumpeng and my plate concepts. (4) Results: From the socialization, education, and discussions about nutrition among female adolescents at the Tahfizul Qur’an pesantren in Sungai Pinang, the adolescents were very enthusiastic during the activities. (5) Conclusion: The conclusion of this activity is that female adolescents were able to understand the information presented well, as evidenced by their ability to repeat what had been conveyed.ABSTRAKLatar Belakang: Penurunan kejadian stunting dimulai dari perhatian terhadap kesehatan dan gizi yang seimbang bagi calon ibu yang dimulai sejak masa remaja. Gizi seimbang adalah dimana susunan makanan seharihari yang mengandung zat-zat gizi dalam jenis dan jumlah yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tubuh, dengan memperhatikan prinsip keanekaragaman atau variasi makanan. Di Indonesia, pengetahuan dan perilaku untuk mengkonsumsi makanan gizi seimbang dengan berprinsip pada empat pilar yaitu keanekaragaman makanan, perilaku hidup bersih dan mempertahankan berat badan normal masih rendah. (2) Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja puteri di pondok pesantren Tahfizul Qur’ an mengenai gizi seimbang. (3) Metode: yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah sosialisasi dan edukasi menggunakan tumpeng Kesehatan dan isi piringku (4) Hasil: dari sosialisasi dan edukasi serta diskusi mengenai gizi pada remaja puteri di pondok pesantren Tahfizul Qur’an Sungai Pinang, remaja sangat dan antusias selama kegiatan berlangsung. (5) Kesimpulan: dari kegiatan ini adalah remaja puteri dapat memahami apa yang telah disampaikan dengan baik, terbukti dengan remaja dapat mengulang Kembali apa yang telah disampaikan.
