Abstract

Social capital is a crucial concept in understanding social interactions in society, encompassing elements such as trust, social networks, and norms that support cooperation. This article discusses the role of social capital in the context of the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, where trust between individuals, both between ustadz and santriwati, plays an important role in creating a productive educational environment. By prioritizing good communication and positive interactions, trust is built through shared experiences and involvement in religious activities. The Banjar community is an example of how trust can be formed through kinship relationships and open communication. The effective application of social capital in the Islamic Boarding School not only produces quality santriwati, but also creates a safe and harmonious atmosphere that encourages cooperation and mutual respect among all members of the community. Through this approach, social capital is expected to strengthen social ties and increase individual productivity in society.

Abstract

Social interactions play an important role in influencing individuals' purchasing decisions in the context of modern society. This study examines how the social environment, consisting of family, friends and reference groups, significantly shapes consumer preferences and behaviour. Through a sociological approach, this study explores theories of social interaction and its influence on purchasing decisions, including mechanisms of conformity, social group influence and normative pressure. By analysing consumer behaviour within their social networks, this research highlights how social norms, group status, and cultural and environmental expectations can influence product and brand choices. The results show that the social environment not only influences purchasing decisions directly through daily interactions, but also through the construction of individual social identities. Consumers often seek social validation through the products they buy, hoping to gain recognition or status within their social group. In addition, phenomena such as shifts in consumption behaviour due to the influence of social media and opinion leaders also strengthen the impact of the social environment on purchasing decisions. This research confirms the importance of considering aspects of social interaction in marketing strategies, especially in understanding consumer motivation from a sociological perspective. The findings provide practical implications for marketers in designing campaigns that can leverage social dynamics to influence consumer preferences and drive more effective purchase behaviour.

Abstract

Bali, in addition to being a tourist destination, is also utilized as a migration destination for the public due to the availability of job opportunities in various fields. In the migration process, people from outside Bali often bring different cultures and backgrounds compared to the indigenous communities. Bali is often chosen as a migration destination by people from Flores, driven by economic and educational factors, as well as its geographical accessibility and rapid infrastructure development. In this migration process, these communities frequently use social capital as a tool to build social networks in order to achieve their migration goals. Social capital, which is binding, serves as the foundation for relationships built between individuals, forming groups that are homogeneous and exclusive. Based on Putnam's concept of social capital, this study will examine the role of social capital in the social networks of Flores communities migrating to Denpasar, Bali. This research uses a qualitative research method with an explanatory approach, allowing for an in-depth analysis of the phenomenon.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the communication patterns carried out by Gocar drivers in improving and maintaining their services to customers in Makassar City. A driver is said to be able to fulfill the standard of service procedures if they carry out the rules that have been set, such as the minimum and maximum number of passengers in a day so that the partner's target is met to get a reward or bonus from the online application provider. Not only that, the assessment of the customer (user) to the online transportation provider application partner also greatly affects the driver's performance. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Means of observation, in-depth interviews, and literature study carried out data collection techniques. The results showed that online transport impacts and influences people's transport needs. But behind that, partners as parties who cooperate with online transportation provider applications are also required to provide their best service performance to customers (users). Starting from driving skills, how to behave, driving equipment, and even how to communicate to maintain the driver's performance. As a sign or measure of an online transport driver's ability to carry out his duties well, this provider application provides an assessment space for customers. The assessment after booking on the application in question is the provision of star marks by the customer on the service felt during the trip.

Abstract

The role of land in national development is increasingly important to meet the needs for housing and commercial activities, requiring legal certainty through clear, comprehensive, and written legal instruments. The enactment of the Basic Agrarian Law (UUPA) abolished the concept of land rights under Western law. However, there are still lands with the legal basis of eigendom verponding that have not been converted, and the land rights holders or their heirs continue to claim ownership. The research method used in this study is normative juridical. Data collection techniques include document studies and interviews, with qualitative juridical. The result of the research discussion shows that the Supreme Court decision No. 109/PK/Pdt/2022, which favored the Muller family, indicates legal uncertainty as it is inconsistent with regulations governing former Western rights land, which should be controlled by the state and prioritize those who have physical dominion of the land.

Abstract

The social media application TikTok, especially among millennial college students, has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years. With the number of downloads continuing to increase, TikTok offers a wide variety of engaging content that captivates a wide audience. This research aims to explore the impact of the use of TikTok on students, not only as a means of entertainment, but also in social, psychological, and cultural contexts. This research method involved interviews with 15 college students and meta-analysis of 20 relevant articles, to gain deeper insights into user interactions with the platform. The findings suggest that the use of TikTok can have a double impact. On the one hand, the platform serves as a tool to strengthen social relationships, increase creativity, and allow for positive self-expression, especially for college students who use it for constructive purposes. On the other hand, overuse can harm academic productivity, trigger social anxiety, sleep disturbances, and decreased mental health. Therefore, it is important for students to manage their time and content consumption on TikTok wisely, in order to minimize negative impacts, while taking advantage of the social and creative potential offered by this application. This research is expected to contribute to understanding the influence of TikTok on students' lifestyles and social interactions in the digital era.

Abstract

The President of the Republic Indonesia announced the capital’s relocation to East Kalimantan, potentially impacting indigenous communities by threatening their land rights, forests, cultural identity, and traditional rights. The objective of this research is to understand the implementation of land acquisition in the new capital city concerning indigenous land ownership and to analyze the legal protection provided for indigenous communities whose land is used for the capital city’s development. The research method used is normative juridical, employing a descriptive-analytical approach. The research stages involve library research, with data collection conducted through document studies and the review of secondary data relevant to the issues studied. This library research was undertaken to gather primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The data analysis method employed is qualitative juridical analysis. The findings of this study indicate, Land acquisition for the new capital city faces significant challenges in respecting the rights of indigenous communities, despite being legally recognized. In practice, it has not met social aspects, fair compensation, and legal protection. The participation of indigenous communities, such as the Balik Paser Tribe, has been ineffective, and post-dispute compensation is often delayed and insufficient. The legal void regarding compensation for customary land worsens legal uncertainty, potentially violating indigenous rights. A more inclusive, transparent, and fair mechanism is needed to protect their rights.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of mutual cooperation activities in maintaining social solidarity in Semangat Village, a village with a fairly dense population. Although large populations are often a challenge in building harmonious social relationships, the results of the study show that the values of mutual cooperation are still very well maintained and closely intertwined. Gotong Royong activities in this village not only function in the physical aspect, but also in strengthening social relations between residents, building a sense of togetherness, and caring for each other. However, the main challenge faced is the low participation of the younger generation, which is affected by the changes in modern lifestyles. Therefore, efforts are needed to adapt gotong royong activities to the times, including the use of technology and social media. This study concludes that, with the right strategy, gotong royong activities in Semangat Village can continue to develop and provide greater social benefits, while maintaining the human values that are the basis of the life of the village community.

Abstract

The High Board Grave in Pananggahan Village, North Barus District, Central Tapanuli Regency, is a historical site with the potential to become a religious tourism destination. The uniqueness of this grave lies in the involvement of non-Muslim local residents in its management and promotion, reflecting a high degree of religious tolerance. In addition to its spiritual significance for pilgrims, the site also has a significant economic impact on the surrounding community, particularly in providing tourism facilities. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews with local residents and grave caretakers, as well as a literature review. Data analysis is conducted thematically to identify the socio-economic impacts of religious tourism at the High Board Grave. The findings indicate that this grave has great potential as both a historical and religious tourism destination. Tourism-related activities around the site, such as parking services and pilgrimage facilities, contribute to the local economy. However, challenges persist in managing this tourism sector, particularly regarding inadequate infrastructure and land-use permits.
