Abstract

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is increasingly recognized as a critical competency for effective teaching, as it supports classroom management, empathy, and inclusive learning environments. Despite this importance, limited empirical attention has been given to how demographic characteristics influence EI, particularly among Junior High School (JHS) Social Studies teachers, whose subject requires sustained social interaction and value-based instruction. This study addresses this gap by examining the relationship between selected demographic variables including gender, academic qualification, teaching experience, and age and the emotional intelligence of JHS Social Studies teachers in the Effutu Municipality of Ghana. Guided by Daniel Goleman’s Theory of Emotional Intelligence, the study adopted a census approach and collected data from 67 teachers using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The main findings reveal that JHS Social Studies teachers generally exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence (M = 3.59), particularly in self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness, while relationship management skills were only moderate. The analysis further showed that gender, academic qualification, and teaching experience did not significantly predict teachers’ EI. Notably, the study uncovered a counterintuitive age-related effect, with age emerging as a significant negative predictor of emotional intelligence. Younger teachers (20-40 years) demonstrated higher EI than older teachers (41 years and above), challenging the common assumption that emotional intelligence increases with age and professional experience. The practical implications of these findings suggest that emotional intelligence should be treated as a professional skill requiring ongoing development rather than as a trait acquired automatically through experience. Consequently, Effutu Municipal Education Directorate should deliberately incorporate emotional and relationship management into their training programs to strengthen teachers’ interpersonal competencies and enhance classroom effectiveness, regardless of teachers’ demographic backgrounds.

Abstract

The global higher education landscape demands universities to continuously enhance their competitiveness through systematic quality improvement and international recognition. A regional Indonesian university (hereinafter referred to as "the Institution") has demonstrated significant progress in national and regional rankings, positioning itself strategically for global recognition. This study examines the Institution's strategic policy framework for achieving world-class university status through the implementation of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking system, targeting entry into the top 1,500 universities globally by 2027. A comprehensive policy analysis approach was employed, examining institutional strengths, strategic imperatives, and performance indicators. The study synthesizes data from national rankings (Edurank 2025, AD Scientific Index 2025) and institutional metrics, incorporating the QS ranking methodology framework. Results of the research, the Institution has achieved notable rankings including 27th nationally, 532nd in Asia, and 1802nd internationally (Edurank 2025), with recognition among 15 leading institutions nationally (AD Scientific Index 2025) and consistent top ranking in its provincial region. Three strategic pillars have been identified: World Class Research (targeting 800 Scopus/WoS publications annually), Internationalization (targeting 6 10% international students), and Global Reputation (targeting QS reputation score of 45%). The strategic transformation framework, grounded in regional competitiveness, talent quality, research impact, national reputation, and international investment, provides a robust pathway for the Institution's advancement. Implementation requires systematic monitoring through KPI frameworks, real-time dashboards, and accountability mechanisms incorporating process, output, outcome, and impact

Abstract

This study aims to describe the activities of rubber farmers and the obstacles they face in the tapping process. The research location was in Maruta Anjir Serapat Village, East Kapuas District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the main activities of farmers include tapping rubber at night, collecting sap, processing, and selling to local collectors. These activities are the main source of income for farmers. However, they face several obstacles such as unpredictable weather, especially during the rainy season, which disrupts the tapping process and reduces sap yield. In addition, fluctuating rubber prices cause farmers' incomes to be unstable. Damaged road infrastructure also hinders access to plantations and distribution of produce. Nevertheless, farmers remain persistent in their rubber farming activities. This study concludes that support from various parties, especially the government, is urgently needed. Recommended forms of support include road repairs, subsidies for fertilizers and production tools, guidance, and improved market access to enhance farmers' productivity and welfare in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) occupy a strategic position in national economic development, particularly in efforts to reduce poverty and improve societal welfare. However, the realization of this role is not determined solely by economic factors, but is also strongly influenced by institutional quality and public governance practices. This study aims to systematically examine the contribution of MSMEs to poverty alleviation in Indonesia, while also identifying the major thematic clusters discussed in the literature. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using a bibliometric approach based on RIS data. The findings indicate that MSMEs make a significant contribution to poverty reduction through job creation, income generation, strengthening local economic communities, and community empowerment, particularly in rural areas. The reviewed literature categorizes the role of MSMEs into several key clusters, including institutional and public policy aspects, improvement of poor households’ welfare, community-based local economic development, and the linkage between MSMEs and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nevertheless, the effectiveness of MSMEs’ contributions is often constrained by weak governance, low levels of financial literacy, and corrupt political practices, which result in inequities in the distribution of policy benefits)

Abstract

This study examines the role of ustaz and ustazah in the transfer of learning for student character building in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). While previous studies have predominantly focused on the outcomes of character education, limited research has investigated how the transfer of learning functions as a mechanism for internalizing values in students’ daily lives. This study addresses this gap by analyzing how educators facilitate the transformation of knowledge into behavior. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation at Muhammadiyah Boarding School Jazaul Ihsan Jombang. The informants consisted of ustaz, ustazah, students, boarding school supervisors, and alumni, who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and drawing a conclusion. The findings indicate that ustaz and ustazah play central roles as designers, implementers, and evaluators of character education. Character values such as sincerity, honesty, discipline, and responsibility are systematically integrated into lesson planning, daily routines, and institutional programs. The transfer of learning is implemented through contextual teaching, habituation, role modeling, and continuous mentoring, supported by structured evaluation systems. As a result, students demonstrate observable improvements in spiritual discipline, social skills, independence, and moral behavior. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the transfer of learning as a key process linking instructional practices and character outcomes, emphasizing that effective character formation requires the consistent integration of cognitive learning and lived experiences within a 24-hour educational environment.

Abstract

The village of Pemakuan has been producing sago for many years, but recently, income from sago production has declined due to land conversion, as occasional shortages of sago raw materials have disrupted the sago processing production process. When sago raw materials are scarce, sago processing production also becomes disrupted. The effect is that the production process stops, resulting in no products being produced. The objective of this study is to describe the production of processed sago porridge. This study employs a qualitative approach and descriptive methods. The research findings indicate: Sago processing production in Pemakuan Village depends on several key factors, namely raw materials, labor, capital, and technology. 1) Raw materials are crucial, with sago as the primary material. It is sourced from local factories, and its availability can impact production. The price of sago raw materials is Rp 3,500 per kilogram. 2) Labor, particularly local residents, plays a vital role in production, as this industry provides employment opportunities. 3) Capital, whether in the form of money or goods, is essential for various aspects of production, from raw materials to employee wages. 4) Sago processing technology still relies on simple tools and basic equipment. Based on the research conducted, it was concluded that Pemakuan Village is known as the center of sago production in Sungai Tabuk Subdistrict, with many people involved in sago processing as their livelihood.
