Abstract

Gastritis is an inflammatory process of the gastric mucosa and submucosa that, if not treated immediately, can lead to very dangerous complications. Adolescents often do not pay attention to their health because they are busy with school activities. This makes adolescents vulnerable to gastritis symptoms. Symptoms of gastritis that often appear include burning in the stomach, decreased appetite, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and frequent burping. Factors causing gastritis include diet, age, knowledge, medications, stress, and bacteria. Objective: identify factors associated with gastritis symptoms in adolescents. Method: This study used a descriptive correlation research design using a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was all first-grade and second-grade students in high school; the sample used totaled 112 students, and the sampling technique used was proportionate stratified random sampling. Data analysis in this study used univariate and bivariate analyses. The form of univariate analysis in this study is in the form of distribution and percentage, while the bivariate analysis uses the Chi-square test. Results: The results showed that adolescents in high school who experienced gastritis symptoms were 48 respondents (42.9%). Correlation test between age and gastritis symptoms obtained p-value 0.000, gender with gastritis symptoms obtained p-value 0.022, diet with gastritis symptoms obtained p-value 0.032, stress with gastritis symptoms obtained p-value 0.003, consumption of NSAID drugs with gastritis symptoms obtained p-value 0.000, and smoking with gastritis symptoms obtained p-value 0.246. Conclusions: Factors associated with gastritis symptoms in adolescents in high school include age, gender, diet, stress, and consumption of NSAIDs. As for smoking, it was not associated with gastritis symptoms in adolescents in high school.

Abstract

Gastroparesis is a complication experienced by 20% - 50% of chronic diabetes mellitus patients with poor glycemic control. Hyperglycemia will slow down gastric emptying thereby reducing oral intake and mismatch of nutrient absorption which causes impaired nutritional status. Objective: to determine the nutritional status and symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels. Method: Quantitative descriptive study on type 2 DM patients at RSAU Dr. M. Salamun. The sampling technique uses consecutive sampling with a sample size of 82 subjects. Data were obtained through gastrointestinal symptom score (GSS) questionnaires, height and weight checks, and patient medical records. Furthermore, the data results will be processed using univariate analysis. The questionnaire is considered reliable with the results of the reliability test of the crombach alpha value >0.50. Result: 71.9% of respondents experienced symptoms of diabetic gastroparesis with normal nutritional status (37.1%) and obesity (37.1%). The majority were female, ≥60 years old, and 1-5 years of DM. Conclusion: Health education and intervention in modifying lifestyle better so that it can control blood glycemia and make a diet that is suitable for patients with gastroparesis so that it can minimise the symptoms of gastroparesis experienced.

Abstract

Bullying in adolescents is a serious problem that has a negative impact on the victim's mental health, academic performance and social relationships. Bullying prevention efforts are very important to create a safe and supportive school environment. Although many interventions have been developed, their effectiveness varies, and there remains a gap in the literature regarding the best approaches to preventing bullying in adolescents. Objective: This study aims to explore existing bullying prevention interventions and assess their effectiveness through a scoping review. Method: The method used is a scoping review by searching for articles from three main databases, namely Scopus, PubMed, and CINAHL, as well as one search engine, Google Scholar. Keywords used included “bullying prevention,” “adolescents,” “intervention,” “school,” and “community.” Inclusion criteria included studies involving adolescents aged 12–18 years, focused on bullying prevention interventions, and published in English. Data was analyzed descriptively qualitatively. Results: The results show that there are six articles that discuss interventions to prevent bullying in adolescents. The results of this study indicate that education, role play, and group discussions can significantly prevent bullying behavior. This success is due to a comprehensive approach involving all stakeholders and the use of interactive methods that encourage active student participation. Variables that influence intervention effectiveness include social support, student engagement, and consistency of program implementation. Conclusion: The implementation of interventions must be consistent and sustainable, as well as the involvement of all relevant parties, is very important to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

Aging is a process that occurs throughout life. As age increases, various body functions including the neurological system in the form of the number and size of neurons decrease, resulting in a decrease in the function of norepinephrine which ultimately has an impact on the sleep quality of the elderly. The research aims to determine factors related to sleep quality in the elderly. The research is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population was 123 people, with a sample of 96 people selected through probability simple random sampling. Interviews were conducted in a structured manner to obtain data. Research shows that 79.2% of respondents had poor sleep quality, 67.7% of respondents experienced physical illness and 55.2% of respondents had an uncomfortable environment and 66.7% of respondents experienced emotional stress. There is a relationship between sleep quality and physical pain, the environment and emotional stress. With the results of the chi square test, elderly sleep quality is influenced by physical illness (with a p value of 0.000), the environment (with a p value of 0.022) and emotional stress (with a p value of 0.041). For the health services, they are activating posyandu for the elderly to monitor the health of the elderly and improve the abilities of the elderly through environmental education and stress management education to improve the sleep quality of the elderly.
