Abstract

The development of phytopharmaceuticals aims to increase the use of traditional medicine through an evidence-based medicine (EBM) approach and enhance clinical and community acceptance. This effort cannot be separated from the role and attitudes of adolescents, such as those in the Sekaa Teruna Teruni (STT) group, who have a strong belief in traditional medicine. STT plays a vital role as Agents of Change (AoC) for traditional medicine unique to Penglipuran Traditional Village, particularly loloh cemcem. Currently, information about loloh cemcem is provided conventionally and is not based on EBM for residents and tourists, highlighting the need for technological innovation in promoting this traditional remedy. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of e-booklets as an educational medium to enhance the knowledge of STT adolescents regarding loloh cemcem and to empower them as Agents of Change in promoting its use. This quantitative descriptive study employs a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design and was conducted in April-May 2024. The sample included STT members from Penglipuran Traditional Village, selected through purposive sampling based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria included residency in Penglipuran Traditional Village, active and passive English proficiency, ability to use electronic media and the internet, and obtaining a pretest score of ≥80 points. Exclusion criteria included respondents who could not be reached for the posttest or were unwilling to dedicate time to the AoC loloh cemcem initiative. Data were collected through a validated and reliable knowledge questionnaire with 10 items, and e-booklets were used as educational media. Analysis using SPSS 18 and the Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in knowledge after the provision of e-booklets (p = 0.001). These results suggest that e-booklets effectively enhance STT adolescents' knowledge, supporting them as key sources of information and promoters of loloh cemcem as a traditional medicine.

Abstract

Community knowledge in health empowerment strategies is a crucial element for the success of health programmes. However, many factors influence the level of public knowledge about a programme. This study aims to identify the relationship between demographic factors such as gender, age, education, and occupation, and the level of community knowledge about the Desa SIAGA programme as a community empowerment approach to improve maternal and neonatal health. This research employs a descriptive correlational design with a quantitative survey method. The study involved 107 respondents from Desa Jati, Sukoharjo District, using a simple random sampling technique. The data was collected through a questionnaire survey containing questions to explore the public's knowledge about the SIAGA Village program to improve maternal and neonatal health. The collected data was then analyzed using bivariate analysis and tested using the Pearson Product Moment. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have sufficient knowledge about the Desa SIAGA programme. Age and gender were found to have a significant relationship with knowledge level, with older age and female gender being associated with better knowledge. In contrast, no significant relationship was found between education level and occupation with the level of knowledge about the Desa SIAGA programme. These findings highlight the importance of more intensive outreach and community-based approaches to improve public understanding of the Desa SIAGA programme, particularly among older age groups and men.

Abstract

According to applicable laws and regulations, the law regulates professional behavior in the relationship between doctors and nurses based on the responsibility for delegating tasks and attributive authority. This study aims to analyze juridically the delegation of authority of doctors to nurses in hospitals and juridical analysis of the delegation of authority of doctors to nurses in terms of the existing lex specialist legislation. This study uses secondary data from literature review through online searches of scientific articles using three electronic databases, namely: Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Proquest, with data related to issues of delegation and authority of doctors to nurses in Indonesia. Nurses as health workers need legal protection in carrying out their duties and obligations according to their authority which has been regulated in related laws and regulations. The legal responsibility of nurses is based on the field of law in State Administrative Law, Civil Law, and Criminal Law. Meanwhile, the nurse's attribution authority is based on nursing care and is attached to the independent function of nurses carrying out tasks based on their authority. The mandate authority in the nurse's interdependent function in teamwork and delegation authority is attached to the dependent function where the nurse's interventions are the doctor's responsibility, but the duties and responsibilities are left to nurses who have met certain requirements.

Abstract

Child sexual violence cases are still a serious problem and have long been a hot topic of discussion at the national and international levels. Children are more vulnerable to becoming victims of sexual violence because children generally lack knowledge so they do not understand the importance of protecting their body parts. The high number of cases of sexual violence against children shows the importance of educational media as a medium for preventing sexual violence against children. However, the problem is that in society sex education is still often considered taboo to talk about. Many parents misunderstand sex education so that sex education is often considered unnecessary to be taught to early childhood. Designing SESI (Sex Education) dolls as a medium for preventing sexual violence against preschool children. This study uses Research and Development (R&D). The sample that will be used for the feasibility test and product effectiveness test in this study are 3 media experts in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, 3 material experts by Child Nursing Lecturers, and 10 Grantung Kindergarten students. Data collection methods using observation, interviews and questionnaires Product development and product feasibility testing are used to analyze data. According to the feasibility test, 3 material experts overall obtained an average score of 87.7 with recommendations of Very Good" and "Feasible", and 3 media experts obtained an average score of 85.1 including recommendations of "Very Good" and "Feasible" for field trials. The results of the product trial of 10 respondents consisting of 6 teachers and 4 guardians or parents showed an average score of 94.57. These results can be concluded that the majority of respondents gave the opinion of the SESI Doll (Sex Education) with the category "Very Good" both in terms of design and aesthetics that are attractive and child-friendly, safety and quality of materials are maintained and educational functions.

Abstract

The elderly represents the final stage in the human life process, characterized by various physical, cognitive, and functional limitations that arise due to the degenerative process. According to statistical data from 2022, the proportion of the elderly population increased from 7.57% in 2021 to 10.48% in 2022. One of the most prevalent conditions among the elderly is dementia, which manifests as a progressive decline in memory, cognitive abilities, and the capacity to perform daily activities. Without intervention, dementia symptoms worsen over time, necessitating targeted therapeutic approaches to prevent its progression. Engaging in recreational activities, such as playing games, has been shown to keep the mind active and foster cognitive engagement. This is particularly important for the elderly, especially those at risk of or experiencing mild dementia. The "Ball Fishing Game" is a simple yet engaging activity that involves the use of locally crafted wooden tools, woven bowls, and plastic balls. This game aims to stimulate cognitive functions, enhance memory, and improve concentration in 11 elderly individuals. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Ball Fishing Game as a therapeutic medium for managing mild dementia in the elderly. A quasi-experimental research design was used, utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest approach to assess the effect (impact) of the intervention. Statistical analysis using a correlation test yielded a significance (sig.) value of 0.021 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of the Ball Fishing Game on reducing Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores in elderly individuals with mild dementia. Furthermore, a paired sample t-test yielded a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.005 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest MMSE scores following the intervention. In conclusion, the Ball Fishing Game is an effective therapeutic medium for managing mild dementia in elderly individuals.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a widespread health concern that greatly affects the physical and mental well-being of individuals, particularly those who undergo hemodialysis (HD). Managing this condition poses significant challenges for patients, often leading to reduced self-efficacy. Digital storytelling has been identified as a potentially effective method for improving self-efficacy in patients with chronic illnesses; however, its impact on CKD patients receiving HD has not been thoroughly examined. This research aims to assess the impact of a digital storytelling intervention on boosting self-efficacy in CKD patients undergoing HD. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed to examine the intervention's effects. The study involved 40 CKD patients from Bhayangkara Hospital Makassar, selected using purposive sampling. Of these, 27 patients were allocated to the intervention group, and 13 to the control group. The intervention group participated in digital storytelling sessions twice weekly for four weeks, with each session lasting 15-20 minutes. The Chronic Kidney Disease Self-Efficacy (CKD-SE) questionnaire was administered pre- and post-intervention to measure self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests for within-group changes and ANOVA to compare results between the groups. After the digital storytelling intervention, 85.2% of participants in the intervention group showed improvement in self-efficacy, though the change did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.215). Meanwhile, the control group experienced a decrease in self-efficacy over the same period. Despite the encouraging results, the brief duration of the intervention may have limited its full effectiveness. Digital storytelling appears to be a useful method for enhancing self-efficacy in CKD patients undergoing HD. Although the improvements were not statistically significant, the positive trends suggest potential benefits. Future studies should consider extending the duration of the intervention and increasing the sample size to better evaluate its efficacy.

Abstract

One of the complications in the hemodialysis process is intradialysis hypertension. Hemodialysis patients also often experience increased interdialytic weight gain (IDWG). IDWG and intradialysis hypertension are each associated with patient mortality and morbidity. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between interdialytic weight gain and intradialysis hypertension in hemodialysis patients at Depok City Hospital. This research method is quantitative with cross sectional design. A total of 92 hemodialysis patients who met the inclusion criteria were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a respondent characteristics questionnaire, IDWG scoring sheet, and intradialysis systolic blood pressure observation sheet. The results showed that 37% of respondents were 55-64 years old; 53.3% were female; 48.9% had a high school education; 76.1% of respondents did not work; 75% of respondents had an economic status of <Rp4,878,612.00 (below Depok's minimum wage); 44.6% were of Betawi ethnicity; 80.4% had a history of hypertension; 52.2% had undergone hemodialysis for 6-12 months; 54.3% had ≥2 comorbidities; 59.8% took ≥2 anti-hypertensive drugs; and 81.5% had a fluid intake of ≥500 ml per day. Based on Spearman correlation test, there was a relationship between interdialytic weight gain and intradialysis hypertension in hemodialysis patients at Depok City Hospital (p = 0.014; r = 0.255). Monitoring IDWG and the incidence of intradialysis hypertension is important to pay attention to so that its impact can be prevented, so that the mortality and morbidity rates of patients do not increase in the future.

Abstract

Health has a major role in improving the degree of community life, therefore all countries strive to organize the best possible health services. The purpose of the study was to analyze the responsibility of local governments for home care services at primary health care center. This research uses normative legal research methods with a conceptual approach. Reference primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. The article was retrieved from a scientific journal databaseThe development of home care among the community is better if balanced with the quality of service. Apart from various obstacles in its implementation, the existence of home care is very important for today's society. Because the fundamental problem that is often experienced is the number of referrals to clinics from the local area that require clinical care. Before the existence of home care, individuals with health complaints needed to meet face-to-face at hospitals, polyclinics, and other welfare administration units. After home care was established, individuals who wanted to initiate medical services could simply call the hotline provided, making it more useful for the local area to gain access to healthcare. It is believed that home care will be the first stage of administrative data collection before referral to hospitals and clinics.
