Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that is often found throughout the world and is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Non-pharmacological approaches such as physical exercise, including resistance band exercises, can be effective in lowering blood pressure. However, the effectiveness of resistance band training in managing hypertension still requires further research. This article aims to assess the effectiveness of resistance band training in reducing blood pressure in individuals with hypertension. We conducted a systematic review of articles published in the period 2010-2023 using four main databases, namely PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library, for articles discussing the use of resistance band exercises in hypertensive individuals with the search keywords being hypertension and resistance band exercise and combining Boolean operators (or, and, not) to achieve a more complete search. Three independent reviewers analyzed the articles based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Through the initial search, 2,785 articles were found. Based on the PRISMA flowchart and after manual review, only 10 studies met the inclusion criteria and were identified for further analysis. The results of the review show that resistance band exercises performed regularly, especially for 8 weeks or more, can reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in individuals with hypertension. This exercise was proven to be effective in reducing blood pressure, and this effect was more significant in the group that followed a regular exercise program. Significant changes in blood pressure were noted during an exercise program performed 2-3 times a week at moderate intensity. Resistance band training can be an effective non-pharmacological alternative in managing hypertension and has the potential to be part of the long-term management of hypertension. However, further research is needed to determine the optimal duration, intensity and frequency of exercise for maximum results.

Abstract

Chatbots have emerged as popular tools across various domains, including expert systems for disease diagnosis. This research aims to develop a chatbot leveraging the Naive Bayes method within an expert system for diagnosing eye diseases. The Naive Bayes method was chosen for its efficiency in handling data classification and its ability to provide the necessary class probabilities in diagnosis. The resulting chatbot is designed to simplify the diagnosis process for users by providing a user-friendly and easily understandable interface. Evaluation of the system demonstrated an 87% accuracy rate in initial diagnoses when compared against specialist evaluations. Additionally, the User Acceptance Test revealed a high acceptance rate, with an average score of 84.75%, indicating strong user satisfaction with the system’s performance and ease of use. These findings suggest that deploying a chatbot with the Naive Bayes method in an expert system for diagnosing eye diseases has the potential to serve as a valuable platform in supporting medical practitioners in diagnosing eye diseases more efficiently and accurately.

Abstract

Lichen Amyloidosis (LA) and Lichen Simplex Chronicus (LSC) are two skin conditions that are often confused in clinical diagnosis because of their similar clinical manifestations. Objective: This study aims to determine the picture of Lichen Amyloidosis Resembling Lichen Simplex Chronicus in Women with Hyperpigmented Skin Lesions in the Lower Leg Area. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach on participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in women with hyperpigmented skin lesions in the lower leg area. The population and samples used were patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria as many as 3 people. patients were interviewed, observed and given medical treatment then evaluated for changes that occurred. The results of this study found a case of a 37-year-old woman with hyperpigmented skin lesions on both lower legs, diagnosed as LSC. Further examination showed results in accordance with LA. The main symptoms experienced by the patient were severe itching that interfered with daily activities, especially when the patient was emotional or stressed. The patient was treated using a combination of dermatotherapy and psychotherapy to reduce itching and prevent recurrence. Diagnostic challenges are often encountered in the management of patients with complex skin conditions, as is the importance of accurate histopathology in establishing a correct diagnosis.

Abstract

Education on anesthesia for cardiovascular disorders includes matters related to anesthesia from pre, intra, to post anesthesia and will affect how prepared the patient is to face post-anesthesia conditions. Education on anesthesia has not been implemented optimally, its implementation only focuses on pre-anesthesia preparation, while for intra and post anesthesia its implementation has not been optimal. This is influenced by several factors. Through this study, we want to know the factors that influence anesthesiologists in providing education on anesthesia procedures in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders. The research design used was a correlation analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The population taken was anesthesiologists in Indonesia with a purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study was 254 anesthesiologists with a purposive sampling technique. Bivariate analysis with the chi square test was carried out to test the factors that influence anesthesiologists in providing education on anesthesia procedures in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders. The results of the study concluded that work patterns had a significant relationship with the provision of education (p <0.001), while length of work (p 0.823) and workload (p 0.113) were not significantly related to the level of education provision. Further research is recommended on the dominant factors that influence the provision of education on anesthesia procedures in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders.

Abstract

The number of Diabetes Mellitus patients is increasing and the average patient will use insulin injections independently to maintain their glycemic levels. Therefore, proper education is needed to improve insulin injection skills so that glycemic can be controlled. There are still many locations where insulin injections are carried out by patients and nurses in the arm (deltoid) or in the abdomen, but rotation is rarely carried out. This happens because it is to the patient's understanding and familiarity with the arm area. In general, patients say they are hesitant to inject insulin in the other part. Objective to determine the effect of the application of education using a rotation scheme on the skills of T2DM patients. This research method was with a quasi-experimental design, with the respondents being T2DM patients who received insulin injection therapy with a sampling technique using simple random sampling. With improved insulin injection skills, the patient can control his glycemic muscles. The results showed that there was an increase in the average skill score in the intervention group by applying educational media of the insulin injection rotation scheme higher than that of the control group. There was a significant difference (p-value 0.000). Education with the medium of insulin injection rotation scheme is effective in improving the skills of T2DM patients. Education using props will make it easier for T2DM patients to practice injecting independently precisely and correctly.
