Abstract

One of the nutritional issues that toddlers face in today's society is the prevalence of short toddlers, often known as stunting. South Asia accounted for the biggest percentage of Asia's 83.6 million stunted toddlers (58.7%), while Central Asia had the lowest percentage (0.9%). The urgency of this research is the high number of stunting cases in Indonesia, where various risk factors for stunting since pregnancy are one of the focus problems that need to be considered. This study aims to determine the risk of stunting early in pregnant women through the SIDILAN early detection application. FGD and preliminary research are the first steps in the process, after which an application feasibility test is conducted. small sample user trials, followed by a quasi-experiment (pre-test post-test approach) to conduct further study. Pregnant Women with Stunting Incidents: An Early Detection Application Based on the High-Risk Early Detection Information System for Pregnant Women Referral System for the Islands (SDILAN) is an effective early detection tool for stunting in pregnant women, as shown by the p value = 0.000 from table 3 above which is smaller. Application SDILAN is thought to be more successful for monitoring and planning pregnant women because it can be completed anywhere and offers direct guidance from medical professionals. In the area of maternity and child health technology, this is also consistent with the medium-term development goals, which place an emphasis on early identification to deliver high-quality services to lower morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

Cancer is a condition of abnormal cell growth, cells lose their normal control and mechanisms resulting in rapid and uncontrolled cell growth, as well as local tissue invasion and distant metastases. Quality of life is influenced by health status. A decrease in nutritional status often occurs as a result of cancer and its therapy. Due to the lack of food intake such as appetite, swallowing ability, absorption in the body and treatment therapy actions taken, coupled with chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nutrition on the quality of life of cancer patients. Methods: Researchers used the scoping review method. The article search used databases from Sciencedirect, Scopus, and Pubmed with the research time January 2019 to December 2023, with the keywords influence"AND ‘nutrition’ AND ‘quality life’ AND ‘Patient’ AND ‘Cancer’. The results were 10 articles analyzed, all of which were quantitative articles. Based on identification, there are 67 articles from search engines from Sciencedirect, Scopus, and Pubmed. The final results obtained were 10 articles that fit the criteria after going through the selection process. Nutritional factors have an important role in the quality of life of patients. The better the nutrition obtained, the higher the patient's quality of life. Researchers used the PEO question format (population, exposure, outcome) to find related research articles. Improved nutrition helps prevent weight loss, which can affect tolerance to treatment and reduce its side effects. The nutritional status of cancer patients tends to change and deteriorate during intensive treatment. Maintenance of a healthy weight during cancer therapy is considered important in health management. By understanding the relationship between nutrition, diet and quality of life in cancer patients, appropriate nutrition interventions can be designed to improve treatment outcomes and patient well-being.

Abstract

Patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) often require mechanical ventilators, necessitating close monitoring and care, including regular evaluations of oxygen saturation levels. Suction procedures are conducted in the ICU to maintain airway patency, reduce sputum retention, and prevent pulmonary infections. The effectiveness of suction procedures can vary based on the suction pressure applied, which may impact patient outcomes differently. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of suction action with pressures of 130 mmHg and 140 mmHg on increasing oxygen saturation in ARDS patients with mechanical ventilation in the ICU. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pre-post design with a control group. A sample of 30 ICU patients was divided into two groups: one group of 15 patients received suctioning at a pressure of 130 mmHg, while the other group of 15 received suctioning at 140 mmHg. Oxygen saturation levels were measured using pulse oximetry before and after the suction intervention. The procedures were conducted in accordance with the hospital's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using the T-test. There was a significant increase in oxygen saturation after suctioning with both pressures. For the 130 mmHg group, the average increase in oxygen saturation was 5.933 with a P-value of 0.000. For the 140 mmHg group, the average increase was 6.400 with a P-value of 0.000. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two suction pressures in terms of the overall increase in oxygen saturation, with a P-value of 0.567. Both 130 mmHg and 140 mmHg suction pressures were effective in improving oxygen saturation in ARDS patients on mechanical ventilation in the ICU. Hospitals should ensure structured and consistent monitoring of suction procedures in accordance with hospital SOPs to optimize patient outcomes.
