Abstract

Chronic Kidney Failure is a disease that occurs when the kidneys no longer function optimally in maintaining metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance in the body due to damage to the kidney structure. CKD disease that is not managed properly can result in complications, therefore the form of support that can be given is to ensure that the patient's quality of life remains optimal, one of which is by increasing self-efficacy. This research is very important to carry out information to CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis that patients must be able to increase the patient's confidence or belief that with hemodialysis therapy the patient can maintain his life. A person's quality of life will improve when the patient begins to accept the disease he is suffering from and adheres to the treatment process. Research objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and the quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Prof.Dr.W.Z. Johannes Kupang City in 2024. The type of research used is analytical observational, with a cross sectional research design. The total sample was 115 patients taken based on total sampling. The questionnaires used were the World Health Organization of Life-BREF (WHOQOL_BREF) and General Self Efficacy (GSE). Data from each variant carried out in the research, namely the self-efficacy variable and the quality of life variable, were tested using the Chi-square test. Research. From the results of data analysis on the self-efficacy variable and the quality of life variable, a p-value of 0.001 (p-0.005) was obtained, which means that Ha is accepted so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the self-efficacy variable and the quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. at RSUD Prof. Dr. W.Z Johannes Kupang City in 2024.

Abstract

Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) are one of the serious complications experienced by diabetes patients. Foot care for DM patients is very important to prevent foot ulcer complications. Foot care can be done by using the right shoes and also maintaining moisture on the foot skin. Wearing shoes for too long affects the moisture of the feet. Skin that is too dry or too moist can also cause damage to the skin, which can lead to ulcers. Special shoes for DM patients that have already been used still have limitations and do not monitor foot health optimally and in real-time. The aim of this research is to design diabetes shoes with a foot moisture detection system. The design of this research is a research and development approach (R&D). The stages conducted in this research consist of literature study, system design, design implementation, system testing, and analysis. Data analysis and system performance results will evaluate the sensor's function to detect foot moisture in patients while using the shoes. The result of this research is the development of diabetes shoes with a real-time moisture detection system. It is hoped that diabetes mellitus patients can independently perform foot care, one of which is by controlling foot moisture.

Abstract

Physical evidence (tangibles) encompasses various aspects such as physical facilities, equipment, and the appearance of personnel, all of which serve as indicators of healthcare service quality and influence patients' choices when selecting healthcare facilities. In the context of physiotherapy services, patient satisfaction often arises from their experiences and perceptions of these tangible elements. Specifically, physical evidence plays a critical role in shaping the quality of service, thereby affecting patient satisfaction levels. This relationship underscores the significance of tangible factors in assessing the overall quality of healthcare services and their impact on patient experiences. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the factors of physical evidence (tangibles) and the selection of physiotherapy services in Malang City. This research employs an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consists of residents of Malang City, with a sample size of 105 respondents selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results of the Chi-Square test revealed a significant value of 0.026 (p < 0.05), indicating a relationship between the factors of physical evidence (tangibles) and the selection of physiotherapy services in Malang City. There exists a relationship between the factors of physical evidence (tangibles) and the selection of physiotherapy services in Malang City.

Abstract

Several disinfection agents have been proven to have controversial issues with neonates. These agents continue to be used to disinfect prior to the insertion of intravenous catheters, both peripheral and central venous catheters in neonatal care rooms. Objective to identify the effectiveness of disinfection agents used prior to intravenous catheter placement among neonates and the possible adverse events. A systematic review was conducted. Databases including Pubmed, Science Direct, Proquest, Ebscohost, Clinical Key Nursing, and Wiley were searched from inception to October 2024. The eligibility criteria were neonates who needed intravenous catheter placement (peripheral or central), with experimental research design, and articles written in English. The quality of studies was assessed depending on the study design. Our study is registered on PROSPERO number CRD42024618924. 1119 articles were found. After the screening processes, we finally included 7 articles. Disinfection agents frequently used in neonatal settings in the included studies were chlorhexidine (with varying concentrations), aqueous and alcohol-based, and povidone-iodine 10%. The disinfectant used prior to the insertion of the intravenous catheter was effective in reducing pathogen colonization on the skin and preventing bloodstream infection. Even so, there were some concerns regarding the adverse effects of the disinfectant agent used. The disinfection prior to invasive procedures in neonatal care is a debated topic. Despite this, inadequate disinfection poses more life-threatening due to the risk of bloodstream infection. Key factors to consider when choosing an appropriate topical agent disinfectant prior to intravenous catheter placement in neonates include gestational age, birth weight, and skin condition.

Abstract

Mental health in adolescents is an important aspect in supporting optimal individual development during the challenges of transition. This study aims to identify the positive continuum of adolescent mental health. This is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 250 adolescents (aged 14–18 years) at SMKN 2 Garut, selected using stratified random sampling. The research instrument used was the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF). The results of this study indicate that 103 adolescents (41.2%) have moderate mental health categories. In the emotional well-being and social well-being dimensions, the majority of adolescents have low categories. Contributing factors include age, grade level, out-of-school activities, and places to confide. These findings emphasize the importance of promotional programs and optimizing the role of families to enhance adolescent well-being.

Abstract

The aging population faces increasing risks of cognitive decline, depression, and reduced physical capacity. Innovative interventions such as game-based systems, experiential learning, and eHealth solutions offer promising strategies to promote healthy aging by enhancing cognitive, emotional, and physical health among older adults. Aim: This study aims to review and analyze the effectiveness of various game-based, experiential, and digital interventions on cognitive function, emotional well-being, and physical health outcomes in elderly populations. Methods: A systematic analysis was conducted on ten studies involving older adults, including randomized controlled trials, pilot studies, cohort studies, and meta-analyses. The studies investigated interventions such as cognitive games, recollection-based occupational therapy, experiential puzzle games, GAMotion, eHealth platforms, and dance-based rehabilitation. Intervention durations ranged from two sessions to twelve months, with diverse sample sizes and settings. Result:The interventions demonstrated significant improvements in cognitive functioning, reductions in depression and anxiety, enhanced physical capacity, improved quality of life, and increased social engagement. Game-based and experiential activities showed high adherence rates, suggesting good feasibility and acceptance among older adults. However, several studies were limited by small sample sizes and non-blinded assessments. Game-based, experiential, and digital interventions effectively promote cognitive, emotional, and physical well-being in older adults. These approaches are feasible, well-received, and offer valuable strategies for supporting active and healthy aging. Future research should focus on large-scale, long-term studies to confirm and extend these findings.
