Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed many aspects of the world of health, including in the field of health promotion in hospitals. Health promotion that was previously carried out through conventional methods is now transformed using digital technology that allows for faster and more effective dissemination of information. This study aims to determine the role of digital technology in increasing the effectiveness of health promotion in hospitals. This study is a literature review that collects and analyzes various articles, journals, and studies that discuss the application of digital technology in health promotion in hospitals. The selected literature covers various types of digital technology used, such as social media, mobile applications, and hospital websites, and discusses their impact on the effectiveness of health promotion. The results of the literature review indicate that the application of digital technology in hospitals can improve the effectiveness of health promotion in various ways. Technology allows hospitals to provide timely health information, improve interaction with patients, and disseminate health messages to a wider audience. Social media and health applications, for example, can provide more personalized and easily accessible education. However, challenges such as data privacy issues, lack of access to technology in certain areas, and low digital literacy are still obstacles that need to be considered. Digital technology has great potential in improving the effectiveness of health promotion in hospitals. Despite facing some challenges, the adoption of appropriate technology can support hospitals in providing better health services and reaching more people with useful information.

Abstract

Caring behavior is a very important aspect of nurse practice, because through this behavior nurses can show care, empathy, and concern for patients. Nurses' caring behavior not only has an impact on patient satisfaction, but also on faster patient recovery, adherence to care, and improved treatment outcomes. There are several factors that influence caring behavior, including nurse characteristics, rewards, personality type and work motivation. This study aims to analyze factors associated with caring behavior in nurses. The research design used descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach to 56 nurses in the inpatient room with a sampling technique using proportionate random sampling. The characteristics of nurses consisted of age, gender, length of service, education level and marital status. The instrument to measure caring behavior uses the Caring Behavior Inventory (CBI-24), while the Eysenck personality inventory contains 24 question items to measure personality type. The results showed that length of work (p=0.015) and work motivation (p=0.015) had a significant relationship with caring behavior, while age (p=0.507), gender (p=0.634), marital status (p=0.146), education (p=0.244), employee status (p=0.529), reward (p=0.737) and personality type (p=0.152) were not related to caring behavior. These results indicate that the longer the nurse works and has high work motivation, the better the nurse's caring behavior will be. Therefore, there is a need for a preceptorship program for new nurses and efforts to increase nurses' work motivation through strategies that support their intrinsic needs and professionalism, especially caring behavior.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a widespread health concern that greatly affects the physical and mental well-being of individuals, particularly those who undergo hemodialysis (HD). Managing this condition poses significant challenges for patients, often leading to reduced self-efficacy. Digital storytelling has been identified as a potentially effective method for improving self-efficacy in patients with chronic illnesses; however, its impact on CKD patients receiving HD has not been thoroughly examined. This research aims to assess the impact of a digital storytelling intervention on boosting self-efficacy in CKD patients undergoing HD. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed to examine the intervention's effects. The study involved 40 CKD patients from Bhayangkara Hospital Makassar, selected using purposive sampling. Of these, 27 patients were allocated to the intervention group, and 13 to the control group. The intervention group participated in digital storytelling sessions twice weekly for four weeks, with each session lasting 15-20 minutes. The Chronic Kidney Disease Self-Efficacy (CKD-SE) questionnaire was administered pre- and post-intervention to measure self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests for within-group changes and ANOVA to compare results between the groups. After the digital storytelling intervention, 85.2% of participants in the intervention group showed improvement in self-efficacy, though the change did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.215). Meanwhile, the control group experienced a decrease in self-efficacy over the same period. Despite the encouraging results, the brief duration of the intervention may have limited its full effectiveness. Digital storytelling appears to be a useful method for enhancing self-efficacy in CKD patients undergoing HD. Although the improvements were not statistically significant, the positive trends suggest potential benefits. Future studies should consider extending the duration of the intervention and increasing the sample size to better evaluate its efficacy.

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension continues to rise in line with lifestyle changes. Often referred to as "the silent killer," hypertension can develop without warning. One of its contributing factors is excessive sodium intake, which disrupts the body's fluid balance regulated by the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Elevated activity of the Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme within the Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System mechanism can further lead to the development of hypertension. This study aims to investigate the impact of administering ethanol extract of Rosa damascena on the activity of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme in Wistar rats fed a sodium-enriched diet. This experimental study utilized a post-test-only control group design. The subjects were 30 male Wistar rats, divided into five groups: 1) P0=control group; 2) P1=8% NaCl+RDEE 500mg/kgBW; 3) P2=0.35% NaCl+RDEE 500mg/kgBW; (4) P3=8% NaCl; and (5) P4=0.35% NaCl. The treatments were administered over 28 days. After the treatment period, the rats were anesthetized using a combination of Ketamine and Xylazine. The data were analyzed using a One-Way ANOVA test to assess differences among the treatment groups. A significant difference in Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme activity was observed in Wistar rats before receiving a sodium-enriched diet, with a p-value of <0.05. The ethanol extract of Rosa damascena was proven effective in reducing ACE activity in these rats, with a p-value of <0.05. The ethanol extract of Rosa damascena has demonstrated nephroprotective properties.

Abstract

TBI patients with decreased consciousness will experience decreased sensory and stimulus perception as a result of prolonged hospitalization, immobilization, and social isolation. Therefore, sensory stimulation is needed to increase patient awareness. This study aimed to determine the effects of family-centered auditory and tactile sensory stimulation in patients with TBI. A case study was used to describe the intervention in this study. The study sample was an adult patients with TBI admitted to the intensive care unit. The trained family members provided auditory and tactile sensory stimulation once daily for 1 week. Two instruments were used for data collection, the “Glasgow Coma Scale” and the “Fall Outline of Unresponsiveness Score” to assess the patient’s level of consciousness (LOC). The results showed that implementing organized auditory and tactile sensory stimulation by trained family members was increased the average GCS and FOUR score. Patients in this study showed an increase in LOC with a GCS score of 8-14 and FOUR score of 9-14 on 7 days of intervention. Thus, auditory and tactile sensory stimulation by trained family members enhanced the consciousness of patients with trauma-induced brain injury. This method is recommended for patients with traumatic brain injury.
