Abstract

Nurse work motivation is the internal and external forces that drive work behaviors, such as commitment and performance, by determining their direction, intensity, and duration. Interprofessional collaboration in nursing practice involves partnerships between nurses, healthcare teams, and patients with shared decision-making based on professional expertise. Patient satisfaction reflects perceptions of the quality of care compared to their expectations. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nurses' work motivation and patient satisfaction and the relationship between interprofessional collaboration in nursing practice. The study was quantitative with a correlation approach. 99 inpatients were involved in this study using convenience sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman rank statistical test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between nurse work motivation and patient satisfaction (0.027<0.05). There was a relationship between nurse interprofessional collaboration practice and patient satisfaction 0.007<0.05). Abstract

Adolescence is a critical period of rapid physical and psychological development, making adolescents vulnerable to reproductive health issues. Breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns for women in Indonesia, and early detection through breast self-examination (BSE) is crucial for reducing mortality rates. This study aimed to identify the barriers and needs of adolescent girls regarding early breast cancer detection through BSE using a mixed-methods approach. A mixed-methods design was used, combining a quantitative cross-sectional survey with qualitative in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The target population was adolescent girls aged 15–24 years who attended high school and lived with parental support. The sample consisted of 172 adolescent girls, selected using purposive sampling for the quantitative analysis. Participants for the qualitative component were also chosen through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire adopted from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) and analyzed through univariate and bivariate methods. Qualitative data were analyzed inductively using NVIVO software. BSE behavior was significantly influenced by age (p = 0.010), ethnicity (p = 0.000), social environment (p = 0.002), internet access (p = 0.011), information media (p = 0.000), family (p = 0.000), and peer influence (p = 0.000). Barriers included limited knowledge, lack of confidence, and communication gaps. Social and environmental factors significantly influence BSE behavior. Developing an interactive, application-based breast care education model can address these barriers and enhance BSE practices among adolescents.

Abstract

Physical complaints of cancer patients can cause a decrease in physical well-being. Therefore, it is necessary to develop independent nursing therapy to overcome these problems, including oncology massage. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of a new technique of oncology massage, a combination of effluerage and acupressure methods to improve physical well-being. This research method used randomized control trial, pre and post study method, single blind. The population was cancer patients treated at Dr. Adhyatma Hospital, with a sample of 44 respondents. This study was conducted for 6 months starting from June to November 2024. Data collection tools used BPI, PMS, BFI and PSQI. Data analysis used the t-test. The results showed a significant difference in physical well-being (p<0.05) on day-1 compared to day-5 in the intervention and control groups. There was a significant difference in physical well-being (p=0.041), including indicators: pain (p=0.014), physical fatigue (p=0.033), and quality of sleep (p=0.024), on day 5 after being given a new technique of oncology massage in the intervention group compared to the control, but there was no difference in physical mobility (p=0.325). The conclusion is new technique of oncology massage is effective in improving the physical well-being of cancer patients, especially reducing pain and physical fatigue and improving the quality of sleep. Suggestions are recommended that this new technique can be used as a nursing modality therapy in cancer patient care in hospitals.

Abstract

Urinary incontinence is a common complication following Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) for benign prostatic tumors, which significantly impacts the quality of life of patients. Kegel exercises have been proven effective as a non-pharmacological intervention to improve bladder control and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Kegel exercises in reducing urinary incontinence levels in post-TURP patients. Objective to assess the effectiveness of Kegel exercises in reducing the severity of urinary incontinence in post-TURP patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach on 15 post-TURP patients at RSUD Labuang Baji Makassar. Respondents performed Kegel exercises for 7 days with a frequency of 6 sessions per day. Urinary incontinence levels were measured using the ICIQ-UI Short Form questionnaire before and after the intervention. Data analysis was conducted using the dependent t-test. Before the intervention, the average urinary incontinence score was 24.27 (±2.712), which decreased to 21.73 (±3.217) after the intervention, with a p-value of < 0.001. The effect size of 0.915 indicates a significant effect. Kegel exercises are effective in reducing the severity of urinary incontinence in post-TURP patients. This intervention is recommended as a non-pharmacological therapy to improve patients' quality of life.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychopathological disorder characterized by distortions in cognition, emotion, perception, and behavior. In addition, patients with schizophrenia have a higher risk of cardiometabolic problems, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and dyslipidemia, compared to the general population. Objective to determine the correlation between the total score of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and High-Density Lipopretein-Cholesterol (HDL-C) levels in men with chronic schizophrenia. The sampling method is non-probability sampling with consecutive sampling type with a total of 77 people. Samples that meet the inclusion criteria and are willing to participate in further research, will be interviewed with the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) ICD-10 (A1) version where the diagnosis is made using diagnostic guidelines based on PPDGJ-III. If they meet the criteria, they are asked to fill out the PANSS questionnaire. This analysis uses the Pearson Correlation. The results with the correlation test between HDL-C level and total PANSS score were tested using the Pearson test. From the results above, it was obtained p-value<0.001 which indicates that there is a very significant correlation between PANSS score and HDL-C level. The Pearson correlation value of r=-0.68 suggests a negative correlation with strong correlation strength, this indicates that the lower the HDL-C level, the higher the total PANSS score. We found a negative correlation with a strong correlation, this suggests that the lower the HDL-C level, the higher the total PANSS score.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to defects in insulin secretion or action. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is the most prevalent form, contributing to complications such as cardiovascular diseases, neuropathy, and retinopathy. Managing T2DM often involves lifestyle changes, including physical activity and dietary adjustments. Probiotic milk, containing beneficial microorganisms, has been studied for its potential to improve glycemic control in diabetic patients. However, while exercise and probiotics have been researched separately, their combined impact on blood glucose management remains underexplored. This study aimed to assess the effects of regular exercise and probiotic milk consumption on blood glucose levels in T2DM patients. Specifically, it sought to examine blood glucose changes before and after exercise, and after consuming probiotic milk. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach was used. Fifty participants with T2DM were recruited using purposive sampling from the SP6 Sari Bungamas Community Health Center, Lahat Regency, Indonesia. Participants engaged in light physical activity three times a week for three months. After each session, they consumed probiotic milk, and their blood glucose levels were measured pre-exercise, post-exercise, and two hours after consumption. Paired t-tests were used to analyze the data. Regular exercise significantly lowered blood glucose levels (p-value = 0.016). However, probiotic milk consumption did not show a statistically significant effect on blood glucose levels (p-value = 0.55). Regular exercise significantly reduces blood glucose levels in T2DM patients. However, the effect of probiotic milk on blood glucose levels was inconsistent, warranting further research to determine its potential benefits.

Abstract

Adolescence has great energy and turbulent emotions but rudimentary self-control. Many cases of bullying occur during this period due to internal and external factors. Identifying determinants and factors affecting bullying behaviour is crucial in preventing bullying incidents. Objective: The study aimed to identify the determinant factors of adolescent bullying behaviour. The design of this study used a correlation descriptive survey with a simple random sampling technique. The respondents are 7th-grade Senior High School students in Surakarta, with a total respondents 88 students. The instruments used were the Olweus Bully Victim Questionnaire, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, personality questionnaire, self-actualization questionnaire, emotion regulation questionnaire, social support questionnaire, social media questionnaire, and DASS. The data analysis used the Pearson correlation (parametric data) and the Spearmen-rho test (non-parametric data). The results of the study indicated that the majority of respondents were female, which was 52.3%. There was no significant association between depression-anxiety-stress, self-actualization, personality, self-concept, family support, social media, and emotional regulation. Peer support has a significant relationship with bullying behaviour. Peer support tends to reduce the risk of bullying behaviour among adolescents. This result suggests that peers have a significant impact on bullying behaviour.

Abstract

Since 1956, the Indonesian public health program has carried out a health program, namely immunization. Immunization is a government health measure that has been proven effective in overcoming six diseases that can affect children, namely : tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis, measles, tetanus, and polio. The Indonesian Ministry of Health stated that in December 2023 and January 2024 there were cases of poliomyelitis or exposure to the VDPV TYPE 2 virus. The level of knowledge, attitude and compliance of mothers is very important for the provision of immunizations routinely to their children. Objective to observe the relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes and compliance with basic immunization in infants 0-12 months at the Kartasura Health Center. This research is included in the quantitative type and the information is measured using a questionnaire measuring tool. This research is cross-sectional and data collection is obtained by purposive sampling. The community involved were as many as 93 mothers who had babies aged 0-12 months who came to the Kartasura Health Center. The level of knowledge, attitude and compliance of mothers is measured by the knowledge, attitude and practice questionnaire (KAP). In addition, the KAP instrument has been tested for reliability and validity, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.703. This questionnaire was made to assess the role of the following parameters to understand the knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of mothers regarding basic immunization such as filling in maternal demographic data, age of the child, how many children to be to, name of the vaccine given, vaccine dose, continuing vaccination after immunization reaction, adhering to the immunization schedule. The findings showed that as many as 83 respondents (62.9%) had strong knowledge in basic immunization, 72 respondents (54.5%) had a good attitude towards basic immunization, while 75 respondents (51.8%) had good adherence to basic immunization. The results of the p value of 0.2373 were obtained, the results of the study stated that there was no relationship between the level of basic immunization knowledge and compliance with the administration of basic immunization in infants at the Kartasura Health Center. In addition, in the Kartasura Health Center, there was a correlation, related to the p value of 0.0005, between attitudes towards basic immunization and compliance with the administration of basic immunization to newborns.
