Abstract

Nurses as professionals have a very important clinical role in realizing quality services oriented towards patient safety. To improve their performance, nurses are required to continuously improve their professionalism. Nurse performance is assessed using the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) assessment. Credentials are an effort to maintain the professionalism of nurses, but their implementation still varies. The credential method is carried out through several methods, namely viewing portfolios, interviews, written exams and practical exams. This study aims to determine differences in OPPE scores for nurses in the three groups of credentialing methods used. This research is a comparative descriptive study that compares OPPE in three groups of respondents who used the credential method, namely the group that used portfolios and interviews, portfolios, interviews and written tests; as well as portfolios, interviews, written exams and practical exams. The results of research on 60 respondents showed that the majority were aged 26 – 30 years (56.06%), female (66.7%), had a D3 education in Nursing (71.1%). The majority of OPPE scores are Good (66.67%) and the longer the nurse works, the better the performance score. There are differences in OPPE values for respondents who were credentialed using method 1, method 2 and method 3. The more credential methods used, the better the OPPE value obtained.

Abstract

Emesis gravidarum, a common complaint among pregnant women in the first trimester, affects 70-80% of pregnancies, often presenting as morning sickness. If untreated, it can escalate to hyperemesis gravidarum, posing risks to pregnancy. Ginger, a herbal remedy, has been traditionally used to alleviate nausea and vomiting. Objective to investigate the influence of ginger (Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum) administration on pregnant women experiencing emesis gravidarum at the Depok Clinic. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample comprised 34 first-trimester pregnant women at the Depok Clinic, selected through total sampling. Data collection involved observation, with participants given 2.5 grams of sliced ginger brewed in 250 ml of hot water and sweetened with 10 grams of sugar, to be consumed twice daily for four days. Emesis gravidarum was assessed using Validity refers to whether an instrument (such as the PUQE-24) accurately measures the intended concept—in this case, the symptoms of emesis gravidarum. Validity assessment involves examining whether the data obtained from the instrument aligns with the true underlying phenomenon being studied. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analyses using the Paired T-Test. Reliability can be observed by assessing how consistently the emesis scores obtained before and after the ginger intervention are. If the scores show consistent patterns or changes, it indicates good reliability. Before the ginger intervention, the average emesis score was 10.74, with the majority falling into the moderate nausea and vomiting category, constituting 76.5% of the sample. After the ginger intervention, the average emesis score decreased to 6.88, with the majority still experiencing moderate nausea and vomiting, comprising 52.9% of the participants. These findings suggest that administering ginger (Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum) to mothers with emesis gravidarum has a significant effect. The efficacy of ginger in reducing emesis gravidarum has been demonstrated.

Abstract

The escalating quantity of older individuals as a susceptible demographic necessitates significant consideration. The emergent challenges encompass not solely physical aspects but also psychological and societal dimensions, subsequently impacting their holistic well-being. An element contributing to the enhancement of the well-being of older individuals involves participating in communal exchanges. Past studies have suggested that seniors who regularly partake in various pursuits and participate in favorable social exchanges in their day-to-day routines may enhance their well-being. This study aimed to examine and analyze the relationship between social interaction and the quality of life among community-dwelling older adults. This study was a correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected purposively, resulting in a sample of 228 older adults at the Harapan Raya Inpatient Health Center in Pekanbaru City. The data were collected using two validated questionnaire including social interaction questionnaire with Cronbach's α coefficient of 0.882, and WHOQOL-BREF with the Cronbach's α coefficient for the domains ranged from 0.41 to 0.77. To test the hypothesis regarding the relationship between the social interaction and the older adults quality of life, a chi-square test was employed. The research findings revealed a significant relationship between social interaction and the quality of life among older adults, with a p-value of 0.00 (<0.05) and an OR of 5.6. This implies that older adults with high social interaction have a 5.6 times higher chance of experiencing a good quality of life compared to those with low social interaction. Older adults with high social interaction tend to have a better quality of life compared to those with low social interaction.

Abstract

Anemia is still a health problem for adolescent and is related to nutrition due to iron deficiency during menstruation. This is because adolescent don't like the smell of iron supplements, forget to take them, are worried about experiencing side effects, and even feel they don't need to take iron supplements. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of telemidwife-based 'PERMISI GANDU' (Pengatur Minum Suplemen Zat Besi Gabung Nipis dan Madu) alarm for monitoring adherence to iron consumption and increased hemoglobin levels in anemia adolescent. The type of research is Quasi-experiment with One group pre-posttest design. The sample was taken using a Purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 36 people in Kecamatan Terangun Kabupaten Gayo Lues. Respondents were given iron supplements and lime infused water mixed with honey once every week for a duration of 4 months. Data collection on consumption compliance uses an observation form combined with video calls by midwives. For the intervention consumption schedule, the Google Calendar setting on the respondent smartphone was used as a reminder alarm. Measurement of hemoglobin levels before and after intervention using a digital hemoglobinometer. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test. The statistical test results obtained p-value < 0.05, indicating that the telemidwife-based 'PERMISI GANDU' alarm was effective in increasing compliance with iron consumption and hemoglobin levels in anemia adolescent.

Abstract

Psidium guajava L. have been used to treat or prevent various diseases such as diarrhea, flatulence, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial and anticancer. Flavonoids are biomarker compounds responsible for their activity. However, harvest and post-harvest stages of plant may change flavonoid content. The present work investigates harvest time and drying time variations of quality and total flavonoids content of Guava leaves. Method: Guava leaves was collected in the morning (9 am), evening (3 pm), and dried for 24, 36 and 48 hours. Each simplisia was tested for macroscopic and loss drying contents. Total flavonoids in each extract were determined as quercetin by UV-Visible spectrophotometry, then comparative analysis was performed with One Way Anova. Total flavonoid levels harvested in the afternoon were higher (1.0887 mgQE/g) than in the morning (0.7200 mgQE/g), while drying time for 24 hours (0.24507 mg QE/g) showed the highest flavonoid levels compared to drying for 36 hours and 48 hours significantly. This indicates that guava leaves are best harvested in the afternoon and dried for 24 hours.

Abstract

Stunting is still the biggest nutritional problem from national to international scope. Indonesia is still closely related to patriarchal culture, although the parenting process requires the active involvement of fathers and mothers in caring for stunted children. The purpose of this study was. Objective to analyze the relationship between father's involvement in feeding and stimulation of child growth and growt and development with the incidence of stunting. This study used a cross-sectional correlational quantitative method with purposive sampling. The sample size was 79 people. Data were collected using the ECLS-B father self-administered questionnaire, which was adapted and modified with the results of the validity test declared valid because it was more than r table (r = 0.444) and the results of the reliability test declared reliable with Cronbach Alpha of 0.852 and 0.741. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed no association between father's involvement in child feeding and stimulation of child growth and development with the incidence of stunting (p value=0.888 OR= 0,685; RR=1,128 and p value=0,435; OR=1,071; RR=1,048). This shows that there are other, more dominant factors that influence the incidence of stunting. These factors include inadequate dietary intake, economic constraints, and child feeding errors. Further interventions are needed to increase fathers' involvement in feeding and growth stimulation of stunted children, although there is no direct relationship.

Abstract

The number of cases of pregnancy syphilis infection at the Ibrahim Adjie Community Health Center has increased in recent years. Until now, not all cases have been found and it is estimated that this will be greater than the current findings. The response of pregnant women to the diagnosis of syphilis infection tends not to be interpreted as a disease that can affect pregnancy. One of these conditions is related to the mother's perception of syphilis infection during pregnancy. Researchers have not yet obtained studies related to risk factors and perceptions, especially in Indonesia. Objective: This research was conducted to obtain risk factors related to pregnant women's perceptions of pregnancy syphilis infection. Method: Research variables include maternal age, occupation, income, ethnicity, gravida status, gestational age, sex, and perception. The research instrument consists of demographic data and a questionnaire with an alpha value of 0.939. Data collection using a survey approach uses primary data. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the highest percentage was in the age category of more than 19 years (90.9%), housewife (81.8%), multigravida (65.5%), gestational age more than 28 weeks (45.5%), sexual risk (54.4%), perception supports (65.5%), and the correlation value with Spearman is 0.361. Conclusions: Supportive perceptions provide the same contribution to risky and non-risky sexual activity, whereas risky and non-risky sexual activity produces supportive perceptions. The respondent's perception that the perspective on pregnancy syphilis does not arise due to previous sexual experience can be caused by other factors that contribute both internally and externally.
