Abstract

Kota Lhokseumawe merupakan pusat pemerintahan dan ekonomi memiliki jumlah penduduk yang padat, dengan indeks kepadatan penduduk sebesar 1.082,6 jiwa/km2. Pengelolaan sampah yang baik harus dilakukan untuk menjaga Kesehatan lingkungan, diantaranya pengelolaan Tempat Penampungan Sementara (TPS). Sampah yang dibuang secara sembarangan menimbulkan Lokasi Pembuangan Sampah (LPS) ilegal yang bisa memicu berbagai penyakit dan menurunkan estetika lingkungan. Fokus dari penelitian adalah memetakan lokasi TPS serta LPS memanfaatkan Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG), menganalisa pola persebaran TPS dan LPS menggunakan analisis nearest neighbour pada Software pengolahan citra, serta menganalisa kesesuaian kapasitas daya tampung TPS dengan volume sampah dari masyarakat Kota Lhokseumawe. Hasil penelitian diperoleh fasilitas TPS yang terdapat di Kota Lhokseumawe adalah 18 TPS sedangkan LPS ilegal sebanyak 36 LPS. Pola persebaran TPS termasuk pola clustered dengan indeks penyebaran 0,69. Pola persebaran LPS termasuk pola clustered dengan indeks penyebaran 0,51 dan LPS tertinggi terdapat pada wilayah Kecamatan Muara Satu. Hasil analisa kesesuaian kapasitas TPS didapatkan ketersediaan TPS disetiap Kecamatan masih kurang untuk menampung timbulan sampah, Kecamatan Banda Sakti masih kekurangan 34 TPS, Kecamatan Muara Dua 23 TPS, Kecamatan Muara Satu 15 TPS, dan Kecamatan Blang Mangat 8 TPS. Abstract

One of Sustainable Development Goals related to climate change is reducing greenhouse gas emissions, namely carbon dioxide (CO2) from human activities. Properly designed green open spaces impact human health and the environment. PT Wilmar Nabati Gresik is a large palm oil producer that produces emissions from the industrial sector. This study aimed to determine the value of ambient air CO2 absorption by green open spaces and its modeling at PT. Wilmar Nabati Gresik. Observations and measurements of ambient CO2 air samples were carried out every 1 hour for 24 hours in 6 days using a CO2 meter. Furthermore, the measurement results were analyzed using SEM-PLS to explore the correlation between variables and their indicators. The cumulative value of carbon dioxide (CO2) in ambient air or Net CO2 is used as an indicator of the amount of carbon dioxide reduction. The three latent variables of this study are CO2 concentration (C), plants (T) and land use (A). The indicators of this study are the minimum CO2 concentration (Cmin), maximum (Cmax), average (Cavg), percentage of tree vegetation, shrubs, grass, percentage of jetty land, office, plant and non-RTH land. The results showed the average CO2 concentration of ambient air in 6 days at PT. Wilmar Nabati Gresik was 521 ppm. Vegetation is dominated by trees and grass, and the smallest proportion of land and vegetation is plant clusters. Furthermore, a mathematical model was made for planning green open space vegetation. It was concluded that additional green open space is needed at PT. Wilmar Nabati Gresik by planting trees coverage of 2.46 ha to reduce Net CO2 to 0. Abstract

Bertambahnya jumlah penduduk dan konsumsi rumah tangga mengakibatkan peningkatan volume sampah rumah tangga. Peningkatan volume sampah rumah tangga akan menjadi masalah yang serius jika tidak dilakukan upaya pengolahan. Bertambahnya volume sampah dengan proses pengolahan yang tidak optimal akan mengakibatkan terjadinya penumpukan volume sampah organik di Tempat Pengolahan Sampah Terpadu (TPST). Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengolah sampah pada skala rumah tangga adalah dengan cara penguraian menggunakan larva BSF (Black Soldier Fly). Sampah rumah tangga pada umumnya terdiri dari sisa-sisa sayuran dan kulit buah. Sisa sayuran dan buah-buahan termasuk dalam sampah organik yang memiliki banyak kandungan unsur hara. Kandungan unsur hara ini dapat dimanfaatkan oleh larva BSF sebagai sumber makanan untuk perkembangbiakannya. Kemampuan larva BSF dalam memakan sampah organik menjadikan larva BSF sebagai salah satu agen biodekomposter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis sampah dan variasi jumlah maggot terhadap efisiensi konversi pakan, indeks pengurangan limbah dan karakteristik maggot yang dihasilkan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode rancangan acak lengkap dengan dua variabel bebas dan dua kali pengulangan. Karakteristik fisik maggot yang meliputi, efisiensi konversi pakan yang dicerna (ECD/Efficiency of Conversion of Digested Feed) Indeks pengurangan limbah (WRI/Waste Reduction Index), dan kadar protein pada maggot kering. Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan metode sidik ragam dimana memberikan hasil bahwa jenis sampah tidak berpengaruh terhadap nilai efisiensi konversi pakan (ECD), berpengaruh nyata terhadap nilai indeks pengurangan limbah (WRI) dan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kadar protein.Kata kunci: Larva BSF, Maggot, Sampah Organik

Abstract

The waste in final disposal site that are not managed properly will have an impact the environment and human health. Leachate from rainwater infiltration or waste decomposition can contaminate groundwater due to leachate seepage into the soil. This research aims to determine the pattern of leachate contaminants migration and to predict the leachate contaminant in groundwater from wells of residents living near the landfill over a certain period. The method used is the Domenico analytical solution, where contaminant transport is influenced by advection, dispersion, retardation, and degradation. Source concentration of model simulation from laboratory tests of leachate samples where COD is 4,960 mg/L, hexavalent chromium is 3.5 mg/L, dissolved lead is 0.034 mg/L, and dissolved aluminium is 1.3 mg/L. The distribution pattern of leachate contaminants shows that the distribution of COD contaminants reaches ± 370 m in the longitudinal direction and ± 100 m in the transverse direction, while the distribution pattern of metal contaminants reaches ± 230 m in the longitudinal direction and ± 70 m in the transverse direction. When variations in the operational age of a landfill are 10, 25, and 50 years, the contaminant content of COD, hexavalent chromium, and aluminium exceeds the required quality standard thresholds, while lead is still within the required quality standard thresholds based on PP Nomor 22 Tahun 2021 (Kriteria Mutu Air Kelas II). Abstract

Waste is a problem that is constantly being discussed and a solution is sought. Every minute, second we will produce waste, both biodegradable and non-biodegradable. Waste generated from human activities will affect humans and the ecosystem around where they live. The purpose of this study is to find out the waste management strategy implemented at the Dayah Darul Ihsan Islamic Boarding School in Aceh Besar and the obstacles in waste management that exist at the Islamic Boarding School Dayah Darul Ihsan Aceh Besar. The method used in this study is observation and library research. The results of this study indicate that there are already several waste management strategies at the Darul Ihsan Islamic Boarding School, including the application of the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), making eco bricks from snack waste, sorting waste in the classroom and dormitory environment, and establishing a waste bank. While the obstacles encountered are the lack of synergy from school members, the lack of awareness from each individual to sort waste, and the lack of implementation of integration between learning and caring for the environment. Abstract

The treatment of wastewater from automotive workshops presents a significant environmental challenge due to the high levels of organic materials, including Total Organic Carbon (TOC). One innovative and efficient solution is the use of electrocoagulation methods. This study aims to design a portable electrocoagulation device and determine an efficient time for reducing TOC levels. In this research, aluminum electrodes are used to induce electrochemical reactions, generating metal ions that can adsorb and precipitate contaminants in workshop wastewater. Experiments were conducted with different electrocoagulation process durations, specifically 3 hours and 5 hours, to measure TOC reduction efficiency. Laboratory test results indicate that electrocoagulation for 3 hours reduced TOC levels by 55.7%, while the 5-hour process achieved an efficiency of 86.4%. This process effectively meets the standard quality threshold for TOC, which is 110 ppm. The advantages of electrocoagulation lie in its high efficiency, lower operational costs, and the absence of the need for additional chemicals, making it a promising solution for wastewater treatment in workshops. This research contributes through an innovative design that can be applied on a small scale, particularly for automotive workshops that need an effective and economical wastewater treatment technology. Abstract

Managing the organic waste market in Balikpapan City is essential to reducing the burden on the Manggar Landfill. Organic waste, especially organic waste in the market, continues to increase along with the rapid growth of the population in Balikpapan City as a buffer city for Nusantara (New Capital City of Indonesia), which can increase the risk of environmental pollution and safety. Market organic waste can be used as an alternative feed for cattle and goats, and the Sumber Makmur Farmer Group, Gunung Tembak, Balikpapan City, has done this. Data collection for organic waste samples was conducted at Sepinggan Market, which has a sample size of 30 sample stalls. The organic market waste generation measurement technique refers to SNI 19-3964-1994 regarding Methods for Collecting and Measuring Waste Generation Samples with a data sampling time of 8 days (4 October 2024 – 11 October 2024). It was found that the average generation of market organic waste produced at Sepinggan Market was 452.67 kg/day. According to information from the Sumber Makmur Farmers Group, 26 cows and 26 goats are needed daily, and they need 500 kilograms of organic market waste as animal feed. These results prove there is still a difference or shortage of market organic waste of 47.33kg/day. This proves that using market organic waste such leftover vegetables or fruits can used for animal feed as an alternative to reducing market organic waste so that 100% is not immediately thrown into the Manggar Landfill, Balikpapan City. Abstract

Dinamika status kualitas air di sungai dipengaruhi oleh pola musim dan perubahan tata guna lahan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dampak perubahan musim dan perubahan tata guna lahan terhadap kualitas air di Sungai Bedadung, Kabupaten Jember. Metode kuantitatif digunakan sebagai pendekatan pada penelitian ini dengan input data sekunder parameter kualitas air sungai dari Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kabupaten Jember, selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan metode Indeks Pencemaran (IP) dan ditranformasikan kedalam nilai Indeks Kualitas Air (IKA). Data tersebut dianalisis untuk mengkorelasikan nilai kualitas air dengan perubahan musim dan perubahan tata guna lahan yang terjadi di sekitar Sungai Bedadung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai indeks pencemaran di Sungai Bedadung lebih tinggi ketika musim hujan dibandingkan dengan musim kemarau akibat input akumulasi sumber pencemar yang terbawa oleh air hujan dan berdampak pada rendahnya nilai IKA. Nilai IP dan IKA mengalami perubahan dari kategori sedang pada Tahun 2018 menjadi kategori baik pada Tahun 2022. Perubahan nilai IP dan IKA ini dipengaruhi oleh tingginya nilai total fosfat dan nitrat yang berasal dari penggunaan lahan untuk aktivitas pertanian. Abstract

The presence of community activities along the coast, including tourism, can be a source of marine debris. Several coastal areas in Majene Regency have been made into tourist destinations, some of which are managed by the government while the majority are not. The research conducted aims to determine the characteristics of marine debris at beach tourism locations in Majene Regency. The research method used a quantitative approach with a field survey method to collect and observe the debris found at the observation sites, namely Barane Beach and Dato Beach, over a period of 15 days. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics to determine the characteristics of marine debris based on type, size, and total mass of waste, as well as oceanographic characteristics. During the research period, a total of 837 pieces of debris were collected at Dato Beach and 2,265 pieces at the northern part of Barane Beach. The analysis results showed that the dominant type of waste at both locations was plastic, primarily beverage packaging, while the majority of the debris size was meso-debris. The total mass of marine debris at Barane Beach was 173.7 kg and 15.2 kg at Dato Beach. The types of debris were significantly different, while the size did not show a significant difference. The results highlight the importance of waste management, especially at beach tourism sites. Keywords: Beach tourism, Majene, Macro-debris, Marine debris, Plastic

Abstract

Rivers are an important part of the ecosystem that plays a role in environmental control. Excessive utilization of rivers in economic and social aspects can reduce the function of rivers as environmental control which results in pollution that damages the environment. Pollution pressure on rivers basically requires special attention where there are 16,487 polluted rivers. The increase in human population is one of the triggers for river pollution because people will live and live and open production lands on the banks of the river. In addition, population growth also increases anthropogenic activities carried out by humans on the riverside. The Antokan River is located in Agam Regency that has a vital function to the local ecosystem. The fast population growth in Agam Regency basically also creates a threat of pollution to the Antokan River. This requires efforts to define the level of quality conditions of the Antokan river waters as a control effort. This control effort uses the pollution index method where this method is an approach used to evaluate overall water quality based on several specific water quality parameters. The findings of the study illustrate that the quality of the Antokan River at several sampling points has good quality standards and several other points are in a lightly polluted condition. Based on the established water quality status, recommendations for controlling the Antokan River using a domestic wastewater management system and water quality protection and management planning were developed.
