Abstract

Entering the era of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), poverty has become a problem that cannot be fully resolved and is a top development priority. Indonesia is a developing country that has many problems related to poverty. The number of Muslim population in Indonesia which is the largest in the world become one of the one reason that shows that poverty in Indonesia can be overcome through productive cash waqf programs. However, currently the potential for cash waqf has not been optimized fully. This study aims to analyze the cash waqf management model in Indonesia and formulate a strategy for the use of cash waqf to alleviate poverty in the country. The method used is ANP-SWOT through literature studies and interviews with experts to validate the SWOT results and determine the order of priorities. The results show that the strategies that need to be carried out in order of priority, among others, are increasing the professionalism and competence of nazhir, optimizing digital technology in the distribution of cash waqf, maximizing cooperation with ulama, Islamic organizations, the business world, and government institutions in increasing socialization and literacy of cash waqf, improving productive waqf management programs, create a transparent, accountable, and integrated reporting system, optimize the use of digital technology in documenting waqf pledges, issuance of regulations that strengthen the utilization of cash waqf in productive economic programs, and invest cash waqf in investment portfolios that are able to provide high margin with well mitigated risk. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of wakif on cash waqf at BWI North Sumatra. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, by taking the object of research at BWI North Sumatra. As the research informant, Nazhir from BWI North Sumatra, the wakif. This study explains that there are 5 indicators used to measure the perception of wakif, namely internal indicators consisting of income and understanding, and external indicators, namely information media, convenience and benefits of cash waqf at BWI North Sumatra. Based on the results of the data questionnaire assessment, that 73.3% of wakif stated that it was good from the income indicator. This means that wakifs have a good perception of cash waqf that the more prosperous the community, the greater the potential for cash waqf. From the indicators of understanding, 46.7% of wakifs said they were good with cash waqf. That is, wakif has a good perception of cash waqf in terms of understanding so that awareness arises in advancing the Islamic economy through cash waqf. From the information media indicators, 43.3% of wakif stated that they were neutral towards the perception of wakif in terms of access to information media. This means that BWI SU should further promote information media through online media in the digital era. From the convenience indicator 46.7% wakif answered well. This means that wakifs have a good perception of the convenience provided in accessing BWI SU for cash waqf collection transactions for wakifs. From the benefits indicator 56.7% wakif answered well. This means that wakifs have a good perception of the benefits of cash waqf, which can train the social spirit and help people in need. Keywords: Perception, Cash Waqh, BWI Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Zakat is a property right that must be fulfilled by every Muslim who owns property and has fulfilled the conditions. While waqf is the main means in distributing assets or wealth of the people, as well as a substitute for public facilities. Both are Islamic Shari'a that exist for a noble purpose, bringing benefits both in the world and in the hereafter (maqashid al-syari'ah). Therefore, the study of zakat and waqf will be more important if studied with the maqashid al-syari'ah approach. This article discusses the utilization of zakat and waqf to achieve maqashid al-syari'ah. Through a library research study with a descriptive-analytical approach, it can be concluded that the utilization of zakat to achieve maqashid al-syari'ah includes three maqashid, namely: maqashid dini, maqashid ijtima'i, and maqashid iqtishadi. Meanwhile, the utilization of waqf to achieve maqashid al-syari'ah includes general and specific purposes for which wakat is prescribed. Then all should be directed to achieve al-maqashid al-khamsah, in the form of guarding religion, soul, mind, lineage and property. Keywords: zakat, waqf, maqashid al-syari'ah, maqashid al-khamsah.

Abstract

This study will try to measure the efficiency of waqf funds in zakat institutions in Indonesia using the non-parametric Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The objects in this study are eight zakat institutions that manage waqf funds in Indonesia. The data in this study comes from the annual reports of each of these institutions during the period 2013-2020. The input variables in this study include operational costs and HR costs. In comparison, the output variables in this study include the collection and distribution of waqf funds. This study indicates that during 2013-2020, the efficiency of zakat institutions in managing waqf funds has a fluctuating trend. This study will also look at the possibility of improving inefficient programs from input and output variables; in general, the main factor in the efficiency of waqf funds lies in the output variable, namely the acceptance and distribution of waqf funds. In addition, this study provides a reference for other decision-making units (DMUs) in improving efficiency, and the average DMU used as a reference is the one who has good professionalism and innovation. Abstract

This research aims to determine the potential of waqf and renewable energy and their benefits in reducing the impact of climate change. The research method used is qualitative research obtained from the results of studies of several research institutions engaged in waqf and energy. The data is collected and then translated through a descriptive method that emphasizes the potential for energy waqf that needs to be developed to respond to the impacts of climate change. The results of this study indicate that waqf and renewable energy have enormous potential in Indonesia. As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, BWI estimates that the potential for waqf in Indonesia every year is 188 T. Likewise, as a country with a tropical climate with the sun shining all year round, Indonesia can become a leader in the development of solar energy with a potential of 4.8 KWh/m2 or equivalent to 112,000 GWp. The integration of waqf as a fund to finance the use of renewable energy has a positive role in reducing the impact of climate change, especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

Wakaf merupakan instrumen filantropi Islam yang berperan dalam memberdayakan ekonomi demi kemaslahatan umat. Dengan adanya perubahan paradigma wakaf tradisional menjadi wakaf digital diharapkan masyarakat bisa berwakaf untuk kemaslahatan umat dan juga dapat mengoptimalkan potensi wakaf. Urgensi dari pengembangan digital wakaf itu sendiri untuk menjawab kebutuhan masyarakat yang semakin beragam dan modern. Studi ini menganalisis pengembangan wakaf di era digital yang mendorong masyarakat untuk terus berwakaf dengan mudah dan praktis. Penulis tertarik mengkaji lebih lanjut bagaimana manajemen pengembangan wakaf era digital dalam mengoptimalkan potensi wakaf. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Dari tinjauan awal penulis di Lembaga Mitra Wakaf Indonesia, menemukan beberapa permasalahan terkait dengan manajemen pengembangan digital wakaf yaitu, dari segi financial dalam maintenance platform digital, terkait dengan membangun konsep yang sesuai dengan syariat islam dan nadzir masih berfokus pada pengembangan wakaf tradisional. Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of knowledge, information media, religiosity on the interest of wakif in waqf in Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk. Then the researcher added the altruism variable as a moderating variable. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research and data collection using a questionnaire technique distributed to respondents. The method of determining the sample using the Slovin formula obtained 100 research respondents. The data analysis technique used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of SmartPLS. The research shows that the variables of knowledge, information media, religiosity and altruism have a positive effect on the interest of wakif in waqf in Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk. Then for the variable altruism cannot moderate knowledge, information media and religiosity on wakif interest in waqf in Cash Waqf Linked. The results of this study are expected to be used as a source of information and reference for those in need, especially the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI).

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to find out the factors that inhibit performance or work performance in the application of Waqf Core Principles in risk management at the Waqf Maintenance and Development Foundation of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. This research uses qualitative research methods and descriptive approaches. The data collection technique used is triangulation which combines information from various data collection techniques and existing data sources. The results of this study showed that the risk factors that is identified to be possible risk are consisted of internal and external factors of the foundation. The application of Waqf Core Principles in risk management, consists of risk management, collection management, counterparty risk, disbursement management, problem waqf assets, provisions, and reserves, transactions with related parties, country and transfer risks, market risk, reputation and waqf asset loss risk, revenue/profit-loss sharing risk, disbursement risk, operational risk and shari’ah-compliant. Two of these regulatios, are counterparty risk, and country and transfer risks are not applicable to the foundation. The counterparty risk has not been applied because cash waqf has never occurred at the Waqf Maintenance and Development Foundation of Pondok Modern, The country and transfer risks due to the absence of assets involving two countries. Abstract

This study describes a model of community empowerment through the integration of MSMEs and nadzir in utilizing waqf funds and an equitable distribution of business results productivity with Musyarakah contract cooperation. The research method used is a qualitative method by providing a conceptual model or framework and the data sources used are secondary data through a Systematic Literature Review, scientific articles, and survey results conducted by government and private institutions.with an object that focuses on cash waqf as capital to develop MSMEs Business with the Musyarakah Contract scheme. This research can be used as material for improvisation and innovation of models for distributing cash waqf investment results through a business incubation program with a musyarakah contract scheme as a ratio result for everyone involved in business management and cash waqf distributors.

Abstract

Wakaf Hasanah is one of the services offering by BNI Syariah (now Bank Syariah Indonesia) to collect cash waqf transactions. offers a service called “Wakaf Hasanah” throuh website and mobile phone’s application that aims to make people easier having cash waqf’s transactions. Total of waqf funds that collected through Wakaf Hasanah as much as 1.2 percent is a cash waqf funds and 98.8 percent is a waqf through money funds. This research study aims to analyze the factors that affect people’s decision in selecting cash waqf in Wakaf Hasanah. This research study used primary data from 70 randomly respondents who had done cash waqf with Wakaf Hasanah or had not done waqf. The result of this study used logistic regression method and descriptive analysis shows that comprehension on cash waqf, information access, simplicity to donate cash waqf, and people’s trust affect people’s decision in selecting cash waqf.
