Abstract

The implementation of chemistry practicum generally has several obstacles such as the lack of tools and materials as well as limited time and space causing students to have less understanding of the procedures and concepts learned in the practicum. This problem can be solved by utilizing a media called virtual lab which helps students prepare practicum activities independently. Virtual labs have the advantage of being able to provide performance to students in doing practical work in real laboratories, especially in chemistry learning process. This media can be improved in quality by integrating the triplet representation aspect which consists of three aspects, namely the macroscopic aspect (practicum technical skills), the submicroscopic aspect (the particulate level), and the symbolic aspect (interpreting data through the form of reaction equations or symbols based on observations). The purpose of developing this media is to produce a virtual lab media to support laboratory-based learning with the features mentioned above to make students become scientists with comprehensive understanding competencies and laboratory engineering skills. The virtual lab media product developed by using the Lee Owens development method which consists of five stages, namely assessment / analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation results in the results that the virtual lab based on triplet representations on chemical equilibrium material fulfills very feasible criteria to be used as a learning resource for students. The percentage of product eligibility as a learning media is 86.15% and in terms of material it is 85.71%. The results of small group trials in class XI students of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo showed that the virtual lab developed had met the very feasible criteria with an average percentage of 86.40%. The final result of this virtual lab has been revised based on comments and suggestions from validators and test subjects. Practically, the media that has been developed is very useful to support practicum learning

Abstract

Abstract

Self-efficacy is one of the factors that affect learning achievement. This study has the aim of analyzing the self-efficacy profile of students in learning using Chemdroid (Chemistry on Android) media. This media is an android-based media for Thermochemical material. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The classes used in this study were 2 classes with 60 students. Both are randomly selected. The first class is the control class (C-Class) which carries out hybrid learning, as usual, namely face-to-face in class and online learning using WhatsApp groups. The second class is the experimental class (E-Class) with face-to-face in class and using Chemdroid media. The learning time and the teacher in this study were the same. The instrument used is a self-efficacy measuring instrument consisting of 3 main aspects with 22 statements adapted from previous research. The results of the study were then analyzed and categorized into 5 categories. The results obtained indicate that the self-efficacy of E-Class students is better than the self-efficacy of C-Class students

Abstract

This research aims to develop interactive multimedia by utilizing HPLC simulators to train students' analytical thinking skills, which will support dry lab practicum activities to be more meaningful. The research method is development research with a 4-D model design, defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. However, this research stage is limited to the development stage. The instruments used in this study include test and non-test instruments in student satisfaction questionnaires and observation of learning outcomes. The results showed that MMI assisted by an HPLC simulator helped students increase students' motivation and interest in studying HPLC material. In line with that, learning with the HPLC simulator can develop analytical thinking skills in the matching and classifying aspects, but has not trained in 3 other aspects, namely error analysis, generalizing, and specifying. It is recommended to use a learning approach such as STEM, which accommodates learning needs with the stages of inquiry, Engineering Design Process, and Product development to overcome the lack of development of analytical thinking skills in the aspects of analysis error, specifying, and generalizing.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interests and motivations of students in learning chemistry by utilizing YouTube as an alternative platform in distance learning. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research. Data were obtained from the survey of interest and motivation questionnaires using google forms taken for five weeks during the learning process. The respondents of this study were 100 students majoring in chemistry who studied organic chemistry using YouTube as a distance learning platform. The results showed that youtube as an alternative platform for distance learning (DL) is considered very good for positively impacting students' interest and motivation in studying chemistry. But in its use, it must be accompanied by applications or other media that can support the learning process, especially on material related to the experiment. In addition, in using YouTube, it is necessary to pay attention to aspects such as sound quality, image quality, size of writing, and clarity of the material so that the material presented is easy to understand, straightforward and exciting.
