PELITA MASYARAKAT is published in one volume, twice a year, September and March . Every writer who has an article can send the manuscript by following the writing guidelines. Authors who want to submit their article manuscripts can be done online. Abstract

Community service is carried out as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education which aims to assist the community in increasing knowledge and skills in the field of making brown sugar that utilizes the sap of palm oil stems. Oil palm stem sap can be processed into brown sugar which is an alternative for processing palm oil waste in Sei Musam Village, Sei Batang Serangan District, Langkat Regency. The method of implementing this community service activity is in the form of assistance to brown sugar producers in the form of technology transfer, management, and equipment support. Assistance activities carried out for 2 (two) days. The result of the mentoring activities is an increase in palm sap processing skills, and an increased understanding of business management, especially in financial governance with simple bookkeeping. Assistance to brown sugar artisans needs to be done considering the quality of brown sugar produced so far is still low and the shape of the brown sugar produced is not uniform. The assistance team provided equipment in the form of a brown sugar molding tool to produce a uniform brown sugar mold so that when it is packaged it looks neat for marketing. From the community service activities that have been carried out, it shows that the craftsmen are able and successful in making brown sugar uniform shapes and are able to calculate the cost of producing brown sugar from palm oil stem sap.

Abstract

Housewives are increased to increase family income through the processing of kepok bananas, banana chips. Banana chips are banana chips that are popular and loved by all people. This activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of housewives in processing banana chips, methods of implementing community service through material presentation and technical guidance for making banana chips. The presentation material was delivered by the PKM Implementation Team. As for the material that will be discussed in banana cultivation, analysis in the banana business. The next method is training in making banana chips, which is in accordance with the quality criteria determined by the Hijrah Banana Chips UMK. Participants who took part in this activity consisted of 19 housewives who live in Percut Sei Tuan District. The analysis technique was carried out through a questionnaire that was given to each participant. Questionnaires were given before and before the implementation of the activity. The results of the questionnaire were then recapitulated and presented in a descriptive form. The results of the activity showed an increase in the knowledge of each participant who attended the technical guidance activity for banana chips processing

Abstract

Drug abuse (Narcotics and dangerous drugs) is an international crime and an extra ordinary crime. Situation Analysis The abuse of narcotics among the younger generation is increasing in Indonesia, deviations in the behavior of young people can endanger future generations of this nation because someone who is addicted to drugs will feel addicted (withdrawal) which results in feelings of discomfort and even feelings of extreme pain in the body. The Problem of Partners in PKM in Drug Rehabilitation Amelia North Sumatra Hamlet IX Jalan Serdang Number 57 Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency Is Providing Legal Counseling, motivation and solutions for dealing with drug addicts from positive legal aspects and state law. The rise of drug abuse that occurs in Indonesian society has encouraged the government to revise the laws and regulations regarding narcotics, where on October 12, 2009 Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Abstract

Mint plants are generally grown on a small scale and are found growing wild in mountainous areas and in damp and watery places. This plant is able to adapt to tropical climates so that it can be cultivated. The purpose of this article is to provide counseling on how to cultivate mint leaves and use them as a fresh and healthy health drink at SMP IT Khazanah Boarding School. The method used is to provide counseling and practice it directly, how to cultivate and utilize mint plants as a fresh drink. Planting mint can be done by cutting existing plants. The trick is to cut the stalk about 1 cm above the branching. Then, remove some of the leaves on the stalks and submerge them in a container. Mint leaves have a distinctive spicy taste, fresh scent and have various benefits for the body, such as refreshing breathing, calming digestion, boosting immunity, and others. As for how to use it as a fresh drink for health which is combined with several ingredients such as Mint leaves, Lemons or Lime that have been cleaned, Honey or Sugar, and Hot Water. Then the lemons are cut into thin strips, then honey is added and the boiling hot water is poured into the container, then the mint leaves are dipped, and let stand for a moment so that the mint and lemon flavors are stronger then they can be served and drunk in warm conditions. The results obtained were that the teachers and students were very enthusiastic about participating in the community service activities carried out by the Riau University lecturer team from start to finish and almost all participants were excited to try planting, making drinks and enjoying fresh drinks from mint leaves.

Abstract

Kampung Sanan Malang has a population of 481 households, 262 of which have opened a business to produce tempeh and tempeh chips. RW15 Sanan's Profile Book states that the turnover of money from the industry reaches nearly forty billion rupiahs per month. However, there are still around a hundred families whose welfare still needs to be improved. Welfare distribution efforts include skills training to open up new business opportunities. One of the work programs of RW 15 Sanan is conducting coaching by involving outside parties to assist, and skills training to reduce unemployment and improve the standard of living of non-tempe craftsmen. One of the travel awareness group (Pokdawis) businesses that has been running well is the educational tourism business based in the Sanan thematic village. This business led to the idea to open a new business, namely the production of eco-print-based souvenirs. Based on these problems, eco-print training was carried out using the steam technique.

Abstract

Personal hygiene is an effort made by a person to maintain personal hygiene to avoid disease. In personal hygiene, cleanliness of hands, teeth and mouth needs to be paid more attention. Hands are the part of the body that comes into direct contact with food and other objects. Preschool students are still prone to putting their hands in their mouths without paying attention to whether their hands are clean or dirty. The aim of this activity is to provide socialization, education and training in the application of personal hygiene through hand washing and tooth brushing activities to Amal Shaleh Perum Kindergarten students. Simalingkar Medan, North Sumatra. The activity was carried out for 2 days, namely on 8 and 12 November 2022. The activity stages consisted of socialization and education, implementation of hand washing and tooth brushing activities as well as singing and dancing activities with kindergarten students. The target of the activity is Amal Shaleh Kindergarten students consisting of 3 classes with an age range of 4-6 years. The activities carried out ran smoothly as seen from the enthusiasm and cooperative attitude of the Amal Shaleh Kindergarten students. With the hope of increasing students' skills, knowledge and awareness in maintaining personal hygiene as an effort to protect themselves from disease attacks.

Abstract

Community Service (PkM) in this study aims to enhance the capabilities of Health Cadres and Mother-Child Duos in addressing the issue of stunting through the utilization of Bumbu Banten in the village of Pasireurih. The background lies in the limited knowledge among the community regarding Complementary Feeding (MPASI) and the prevalence of instant MPASI provision. The majority of Pasireurih village residents are engaged in the agriculture sector, showing potential in utilizing local resources for MPASI production. The objectives of PkM include improving the community's knowledge, skills, and motivation in providing adequate MPASI, utilizing local food resources, and recognizing the ease of MPASI preparation. PkM also aims to enhance the nutritional status of toddlers and empower health cadres and mothers in Pasireurih. The PkM methodology involves lectures, discussions, and practical training. Results demonstrate goal attainment, mastery of planned materials, and positive evaluations of MPASI preparation practices by toddler's mothers. This PkM has successfully increased awareness and the capabilities of the Pasireurih community in addressing stunting issues through the utilization of local resources and locally-informed MPASI.

Abstract

The objectives of this Community Service include increasing the knowledge and skills of the Pasireurih Village community in planting and processing Family Medicinal Plants as well as processing waste through 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Apart from that, it improves the skills of the people of Pasireurih Village. The method used to achieve the objectives of Community Service is by means of lectures (counseling) and training. A series of activities include counseling on family medicinal plants, training on planting and processing Family Medicinal Plants, as well as counseling on waste management. The result of this Community Service activity is that all series of Community Service activities run smoothly and provide satisfactory results. The Community Service activities that have been carried out have benefits in several sectors. The main sectors that have the most influence are health and the environment. The success of implementing activities can be seen from several components, namely: there is an increase in public knowledge regarding Family Medicinal Plants and waste processing through 3R. Apart from that, Family Medicinal Plants in people's homes has increased significantly, and people have become skilled in processing medicinal plants into herbal drinks. The person responsible for Family Medicinal Plants has also created its management.

Abstract

During pandemic COVID-19 the number of tourist visits in East Java decreased which had an impact on the community's economy as farmers and as micro-entrepreneurs, so this study aims to encourage community economic improvement and implement the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's), namely increasing people's welfare by analyzing the weaknesses and strengths of community-run micro-enterprises in Klungkung Village, Jember Regency, East Java Province, using the SWOT analysis technique with IFAS and EFAS. Based on the results of IFAS and EFAS calculations which show the position of Klungkung Village in quadrant 1, it indicates that the strengths of Klungkung Village are greater than the weaknesses it has. Therefore, action is needed to maintain the position of Klungkung Village so that it remains in quadrant 1, namely by increasing its strengths and reducing its weaknesses. The SWOT results with IFAS and EFAS state that increasing strength can be done by means of product packaging technique training, digital marketing village economy training, financial reporting training, assistance in drafting village economic legality.

Abstract

This service activity is part of the contribution of the Politeknik Unggul LP3M. in an effort to increase, enrich and provide knowledge about the basic theory of accounting and about self-potential, especially in the field of using accounting applications, namely using the MYOB (Mind Your Own Business) application, This training was conducted in order to provide preparation for students in the Ujian Kompetensi Keahlian (UKK) in the form of assignments, namely completing the Trading Company Accounting Cycle by operating the Accounting Application (MYOB). The problem at this service is that students do not have adequate knowledge and skills in operating the application. The ability to enter accounting transactions to present financial reports in accounting applications is one of the competencies that must be possessed by every SMK student in the accounting field. Implementation by demonstrating the myob accounting application then guiding students in its implementation. the community service team presented related material then continued with methods and questions and answers. the benefits that students get are being able to operate the myob accounting application to make financial reports so that it is a provision for working on the Accounting vocational competency exam.
