Abstract

Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP) utilize thermal fluids to drive steam turbines, where the isentropic efficiency of the turbine serves as a primary indicator of system performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of operating parameters on the isentropic efficiency of a steam turbine at PLTP Kamojang by comparing design and actual conditions. The research methodology includes primary data collection through field observations, linear regression analysis, and validation using the Root Sum Square (RSS) uncertainty analysis method. The results indicate that while the design isentropic efficiency reached 89.91%, the actual efficiency during the December 2024 period only achieved 76.93%, representing a performance degradation of 12.98%. Statistical analysis reveals that the steam mass laju alir massa is the most dominant parameter affecting efficiency decline, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.8993. Uncertainty analysis yielded a threshold of ±2.29%, confirming that the observed efficiency drop is scientifically significant and beyond the limits of instrumental error. This degradation is triggered by off-design operating conditions and potential physical issues such as fouling on turbine blades. This study is expected to serve as a basis for optimizing maintenance strategies and enhancing turbine performance to support more efficient and sustainable geothermal energy utilization.

Abstract

Biogas is a renewable energy source produced through the anaerobic fermentation process of organic waste, especially cow dung, but its utilization is still limited due to the high content of impurity gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). This study aims to evaluate the performance of rice husk charcoal as an adsorbent material in the process of improving biogas quality and to analyze the effect of variations in adsorbent mass and contact time on increasing methane (CH₄) content. The research method is carried out through three main stages, namely biogas production using an anaerobic digester, adsorbent synthesis through carbonization and chemical activation processes, and purification testing using an adsorption column system. The variations in adsorbent mass used are 100 g, 200 g, and 300 g, with contact times of 5, 10, and 15 minutes, respectively. The results show that the increase in adsorbent mass and contact time is directly proportional to the efficiency of CO₂ absorption. The CH₄ content increased from 58.2% to 78.6%, while CO₂ decreased from 34.5% to 18.2% under optimum conditions. The CO₂ absorption efficiency reached a maximum value of 47.25%. This performance occurred at an adsorbent mass of 300 g and a contact time of 15 minutes, indicating that rice husk charcoal has porous characteristics that can effectively enhance the adsorption process.

Abstract

PT Soraya Berjaya Indonesia Tbk is a company engaged in the production of bedroom equipment. In the process of shipping finished products, various human errors are still found, such as data input errors, discrepancies in the quantity, motif, and size of products, and changes in delivery notes that impact distribution delays and supply chain disruptions. This study aims to identify activities that have the potential to cause human error and determine the probability level of errors in the process of shipping finished products. The method used is Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) to identify work activities and Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique (HEART) to measure the level of human error. The results show that of the 28 sub-tasks analyzed, the activity of filling out the product list along with the number of products transferred and checking the conformity of products with the notes has the highest Human Error Probability (HEP) value of 11.09. This finding indicates that the process of recording and verifying products is the activity with the highest risk of causing errors. Proposed improvements include the implementation of a barcode-based verification system, increasing the stability of the information system network, and strengthening the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These improvements are expected to reduce the risk of human error and increase the reliability of the finished product distribution process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of food packaging machines at PT XYZ Batam City using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness and Six Big Losses methods. The research problem arises from high machine downtime, low production performance, and an increasing number of defective products, causing the company’s production targets to not be achieved. The research method was conducted through the collection of production and maintenance data from January to December 2025, which were then analyzed using availability rate, performance efficiency, quality rate, OEE calculations, and identification of the dominant factors of Six Big Losses. The results showed that the availability value was 97.00%, performance efficiency was 87.49%, quality rate was 98.29%, and the OEE value was 83.42%, which is still below the JIPM standard of 85%. The dominant factors causing low machine effectiveness were breakdown losses of 31.45%, reduced speed losses of 24.73%, and idling and minor stoppages of 18.64%. Therefore, companies need to implement scheduled maintenance through periodic inspection, lubrication, calibration, and replacement of critical components, as well as involving operators in autonomous maintenance.

Abstract

Heat Moisture Treatment (HMT) is a clean-label, residue-free physical starch modification technique that serves as a strategic solution for food diversification, aiming to reduce national reliance on imported wheat, which reached USD 2.2 billion in 2022. This systematic review of 45 selected scientific publications, out of 65 initially screened articles, evaluates the impact of HMT on rice and sorghum flour characteristics. Synthesized results indicate that HMT consistently increases gelatinization temperature (To up by 3 - 8°C), reduces peak viscosity (15 - 30%), and boosts resistant starch content from 3 - 5% to 8 - 15%. In sorghum flour, the interaction between starch and non-starch components, particularly kafirin proteins, significantly modifies the HMT response compared to pure sorghum starch. This study highlights critical research gaps, specifically regarding the need for optimal HMT parameters tailored to Indonesian local varieties and the necessity of comprehensive techno-economic analysis to facilitate industrial-scale implementation.

Abstract

The increasing demand for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has encouraged the development of efficient predictive approaches for optimizing jet fuel production from renewable feedstocks. Conventional experimental optimization methods are often time-consuming and expensive because hydroprocessing performance is strongly influenced by feedstock characteristics, catalyst composition, and operating conditions. In this study, machine learning (ML) techniques were applied to predict jet fuel yield using a dataset compiled from approximately 50 published scientific articles. The dataset consisted of 101 experimental observations involving different feedstock groups, catalyst metal groups, catalyst supports, catalyst loading, free fatty acid (FFA) content, temperature, pressure, and weight hourly space velocity (WHSV). The ML workflow was developed using Orange Data Mining software and included data preprocessing, feature selection, imputation, model training, and performance evaluation. Four regression algorithms, namely Random Forest, Linear Regression, Neural Network, and Gradient Boosting, were evaluated using 10-fold cross-validation. The Gradient Boosting model achieved the best predictive performance with an RMSE of 7.172, MAE of 5.314, MAPE of 10.026%, and R2 value of 0.286 during cross-validation. Feature ranking analysis indicated that catalyst support type, feedstock group, catalyst metal group, and FFA content were among the most influential variables affecting jet fuel yield.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in Indonesia has not been fully supported by adequate digital literacy, creating generational gaps in technology use. These differences may influence usability and user experience (UX) when users access online news websites. This study aims to analyze differences in usability and UX among generations on the Detik.com news website using a quantitative approach. A total of 400 respondents participated in this study, consisting of Baby Boomers (17), Generation X (99), Millennials (124), Generation Z (128), and Generation Alpha (32). The Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to examine significant differences in usability and UX among generational groups, while the Mann-Whitney test was used as a post hoc analysis to identify specific differences between generation pairs. The results show significant differences among generations, with Generation Z demonstrating the highest user experience, while Generation Alpha obtained the lowest results, particularly in the learnability aspect. The most dominant differences were found in comparisons involving Generation Alpha, whereas Generation X and Millennials showed no significant differences. These findings contribute to understanding intergenerational differences in usability and UX on digital news platforms and provide practical implications for developing adaptive, accessible, and user-centered website designs.
