Abstract

The increasing complexity of modern industrial systems has increased the need for effective approaches to understand and improve safety performance. Safety culture is widely recognized as an important factor influencing worker behavior, accident prevention, and organizational safety outcomes, while safety programs serve as structured interventions to improve safety performance. This study aims to systematically review the application of System Dynamics (SD) in safety culture and safety program studies. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA approach which led to 22 collected articles from ScienceDirect. The review focused on publication trends, countries, industrial sectors, research designs, SD techniques, safety related variables, safety culture aspects, and the intended outcomes of SD implementation. The findings show that SD has been widely used to represent complex interactions and feedback structures in safety-related systems. However, most previous studies remain focused on model development and relationship analysis, while only a limited number have evaluated safety programs as intervention mechanisms. These findings indicate that current SD applications are still largely oriented toward understanding system complexity rather than supporting practical decision-making and intervention evaluation. Therefore, future studies should further integrate safety programs into SD-based safety culture models to support proactive intervention factor and improved safety performance.

Abstract

Long transmission systems in open areas frequently face challenges in detecting fault locations quickly and accurately. The primary factor behind this inaccuracy stems from the imprecision of the voltage sensor model used. Therefore, this study analyzes the Capacitor Coupling Voltage Transformer (CCVT) model by integrating the effects of stray capacitance. A case study was conducted on the transmission line from the Maninjau Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) to the Pauh Limo Substation (GI). Utilizing the single-ended method assisted by Daubechies 4 wavelet, the simulation results indicate that the CCVT model accounting for stray capacitance yields a lower error rate, resulting in higher accuracy compared to the conventional CCVT model without stray capacitance. Furthermore, the use of a 1 MHz sampling frequency provides higher fault location accuracy than sampling frequencies of 10 kHz and 500 kHz.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the lengthy processing time in the bus seat molding production process at PT. XYZ, which affects manufacturing efficiency. The objective of this research is to identify the activities that contribute most significantly to production time and to analyze the factors causing process delays. The research employs the Pareto Diagram to determine the activities with the greatest contribution to total production time and the Fishbone Diagram to identify the root causes of the problem based on six aspects: human, machine, method, material, environment, and measurement. The results indicate that material mixing, curing, material weighing, and foam injection are the four main activities contributing to more than 80% of the total production time. The Fishbone analysis reveals that insufficient operator training, non-standardized work procedures, material instability, machine disturbances, unfavorable working conditions, and the lack of standardized measurement systems are the primary causes of prolonged production time. The study concludes that the combined application of the Pareto and Fishbone Diagrams is effective in identifying improvement priorities to enhance production time efficiency through the standardization of work procedures, improvement of operator competencies, and regular machine maintenance.

Abstract

Operasi penambangan PT. Era Perkasa Mining dilakukan dengan sistim tambang terbuka. Sistim tambang terbuka akan membentuk cekungan yang luas, sehingga menjadi tempat terkumpulan air pada lantai pit penambangan. Sistim penyaliran tambang terbuka yang digunakan adalah mine dewatering, yaitu mengeluarkan air yang masuk ke dalam tambang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengkaji sistim penyaliran tambang terbuka yang sekarang digunakan di pit suka maju sesuai dengan rencana kemajuan tambang. Dari data pengolahan curah hujan 5 tahun terakhir hujan rata-rata (2019-2023) sebesar 37,444 mm/tahun dan intensitas curah hujan yaitu sebesar 12,560 mm/jam, serta hasil dari perhitungan jumalah air total yang masuk ke sump sebesar 7.464,96 m³/hari dan rekomendasi dimensi saluran PT. Era Perkasa Mining yaitu lebar alas saluran (B) 0,9655 m, luas penampang basah saluran (A) 0,5795 m²,lebar permukaan saluran (B) 1,782 m, kedalaman saluran (h) 0,5556 m dan kemiringan dinding saluran (z) 82˚. Dan kemampuan pompa sebesar 0,06007 m³/s dengan volume 1.895,76 m³ dapat dihabiskan dalam waktu ± 8,766 jam.

Abstract

The utilization of purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas var. Ayamurasaki) as a natural antioxidant agent in emulgel cosmetic formulations offers potential for developing effective facial skincare products. The anthocyanin pigments contained in purple sweet potato were extracted via the reflux method using 70% ethanol, yielding a 13% extract. The total anthocyanin content was measured at 26.72 mg/100g wet weight, providing potent antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 10.77 ppm. Various extract concentrations (F1–F6) incorporated into the emulgel base demonstrated physical characteristics that met cosmetic standards, including excellent homogeneity and a stable pH range between 5.3 and 6.8. The evaluation of antioxidant activity revealed a positive correlation between increasing extract concentration and the effectiveness of free radical scavenging. Formula F6 yielded the most optimal antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 8.39 ppm. These emulgel face mask preparations proved to be physically stable and possess significant skin protection potential against oxidative stress. Purple sweet potato is verified as a viable natural active ingredient for topical product formulation, providing functional added value for the development of nature-based cosmetics.

Abstract

Hydrogen production by water splitting is one of the most effective technologies for supporting the transition to clean energy, as it can produce green hydrogen with low carbon emissions. The performance of this process is influenced by the characteristics of the electrocatalytic materials used as electrodes. Therefore, the development of materials with high electrocatalytic activity, good stability, and optimal charge transfer efficiency remains a key focus of research. A literature review methodology involving the analysis  and investigate of various scientific publications on the development of semiconductor- and metal oxide-based electrocatalysts, including BiVO₄, TiO₂, CuO/ZnO, and NiFe₂O₄, for hydrogen production via water splitting. A variety of research indicate that each material exhibits distinct mechanisms for performance enhancement, such as visible light absorption capability, chemical stability, the formation of p/n-type heterojunctions, and redox mechanisms within spinel structures. In morphological engineering strategies, the formation of heterostructures, optimization of electronic structures, and interface engineering can increase current density, reduce overpotential, and accelerate charge transfer in the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) and Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER). The integration of various material engineering strategies represents a promising approach in the development of efficient, stable, and sustainable electrocatalysts to support future green hydrogen production.

Abstract

Dizayu is a local micro, small, and medium enterprise in Maninjau, West Sumatra, producing smoked fish known as salai bada as a regional souvenir product. The existing packaging is relatively simple, lacks adequate product information, and has not fully performed its protective, promotional, and branding functions. This study aims to identify packaging attributes based on consumer preferences and propose a new packaging design using the Kano Model. A descriptive quantitative approach was applied by distributing questionnaires to 50 respondents. The data were analyzed using the Kano evaluation table to classify 20 packaging attributes, followed by the calculation of Better and Worse coefficients to determine design priorities. The results indicate that composition information, logo, expiration date, recyclability, portability, affordability, oil resistance, ergonomic grip, durability, product image, and lightweight packaging are classified as one-dimensional attributes. Tear resistance and bright colors are categorized as must-be attributes, while the ziplock feature is classified as attractive. Plain design, transparency, single-use packaging, variety, simplicity, and luxury impression are categorized as indifferent. The proposed packaging design is a 18 cm x 25 cm pouch made from OPP, PET, and aluminum foil, featuring bright colors, complete product information, product imagery, a recycling symbol, and a ziplock feature as a differentiating element.

Abstract

An automatic barrier gate system is a crucial component for efficient and secure vehicle access management. A device previously developed by other researchers had become inoperable due to a faulty ultrasonic sensor and relied on only a single sensor for vehicle detection. This study aimed to redesign the automatic gate system by replacing the defective component and increasing the sensor count to two HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors: one at the front to trigger the barrier to open and one at the rear to trigger it to close. An ESP32 microcontroller serves as the main controller, reading distance data from both sensors and sending commands to a servo motor that actuates the barrier arm. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, comprising the stages of requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Test results demonstrated that the system functions normally, with sensor response times ranging from 0.20 to 0.27 seconds within a detection range of 0.05–0.3 meters, and achieved a 90% success rate. The system operates correctly: the automatic barrier opens when a vehicle is detected by the opening sensor at a specific distance and closes after the vehicle is detected passing the closing sensor. This redesign successfully resolved the issues with the previous device and enhanced the reliability of the vehicle detection system through the use of dual ultrasonic sensors.

Abstract

PT. Pupuk XYZ is one of the urea producers in Indonesia, operating Urea Plants with high production performance demands. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the equipment and pinpoint the reasons for the deterioration in performance at Urea Plant Pabrik 2. The methods used include Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Six Big Losses, fishbone diagram, and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). The average OEE value, according to the data, is 88.32%, which is higher than the world-class benchmark of 85%. Performance (92.49%) stays below the benchmark and becomes the primary limiting factor, whereas Availability (95.10%) and Quality (100%) satisfy the requirements. The primary source of the effectiveness loss is unscheduled downtime, which reached 181.44 hours as a result of key equipment failures. Therefore, the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is proposed to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
