Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between perceived organizational support (POS), psychological safety climate (PSC), and psychological empowerment (PE) among Generation Z employees. While previous literature emphasizes the importance of team-based psychological safety in fostering empowerment, this study investigates whether organizational-level support may play a more dominant role for Gen Z workers. A cross-sectional quantitative design was used, involving 403 Gen Z employees from various sectors in Indonesia. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling in JASP. The results revealed that POS had a strong and significant direct effect on PE (β = 0.518, p < .001). POS also significantly predicted PSC (β = 0.586, p < .001), but the mediating role of PSC was not supported, as the path from PSC to PE was not statistically significant (β = 0.114, p = .054). These findings suggest that Gen Z employees are more empowered by structural support and responsive leadership than by psychological safety within team interactions. The study contributes to the evolving understanding of Gen Z in the workplace and offers practical implications for designing more effective empowerment strategies.

Abstract

Early childhood care has such a major implication for individual development that it requires full attention. The present study aimed to determine the effect of perceived social support on mindful parenting mediated by gratitude. This quantitative correlational study involved 232 Indonesian mothers who were recruited randomly to fill the MIPQ, GQ-6, and ISEL-12 questionnaires. Path analysis was conducted using the R software.  The results showed that gratitude mediated the relationship between perceived social support and mindful parenting. The mediating role was supported by the bootstrap analysis of the indirect effect (0.12, 95% CI [0.09, 0.16]). Additionally, perceived social support was found to have a significant direct effect on mothers’ gratitude, with a standardized coefficient of 0.23 (p = .000). The finding of this study suggests that positive emotions towards every situation faced by mothers through gratitude enables mothers to practice mindful parenting, characterized by greater awareness and acceptance of their children’s uniqueness. Therefore, it is important to increase a mother’s sense of gratitude, through practical support from their partner and family.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine whether authoritative parenting reduces impulsive and compulsive buying in early adolescents. Using a quantitative correlational design, two separate analyses were conducted on a sample of 408 junior high school students (ages 12–15), divided into two groups. The first analysis assessed the relationship between authoritative parenting and impulsive buying, while the second examined its relationship with compulsive buying. the Authoritative Parenting Scale was used to measure authoritative parenting, while the Buying Impulsiveness Scale (BIS) and the Compulsive Buying Scale (CBS) were used to measure impulsive and compulsive buying, respectively. The results showed a negative and significant relationship between authoritative parenting and both impulsive (R = –.159, R² = .025, p = .023) and compulsive buying (R = –.219, R² = .048, p = .002). However, Fisher’s r-to-z test indicated no significant difference between the two effects (z = 0.59, p = .553). These findings suggest that authoritative parenting may protect adolescents from problematic buying tendencies and support early interventions targeting financial habits.

Abstract

Obesity will stay as a global health issue if individuals continue to engage in unhealthy eating behaviors and insufficient consumption of nutritious food. This study seeks to explore how gender and restrained eating style influence healthy food choices in Indonesia. This study uses a quasi-experimental design which includes self-reported measures through the DEBQ questionnaire, alongside a behavioral experiment conducted in a Dummy Supermarket, with 185 undergraduates’ students being participants. The findings indicate that two factors, gender (p = .015) and restrained eating style (p = .001), significantly impacted individuals’ healthy food choices. This is evidenced by the quantity of food items selected from the dummy supermarket, highlighting the meaningful role these factors play in healthy food selections. The interaction effect of gender and restrained eating style on healthy food choice was not significant (p = .074), indicating that the combined influence of these two factors did not produce a distinct effect beyond their individual contributions. These findings offer essential insight for creating effetive interventions designed to enhance awareness, reduce the consumption of unhealthy products among adults, and potentially lead to a descrease in obesity rates especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

Social media has become an important platform for individuals to disclose personal information online, which can be associated by personality factors such as narcissistic personality tendencies. This tendency has several dimensions, including exhibitionism, self-sufficiency, exploitativeness, entitlement, superiority, and authority. This study aims to examine the influence of each of these narcissistic traits on self-disclosure on social media and to test whether gender influences these relationships. A cross-sectional study involved 266 Indonesian young adults aged twenty to twenty-nine years. Participants completed questionnaires measuring the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-40) and a modified version of the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS). The results showed that exhibitionism, entitlement, and self-sufficiency positively influenced self-disclosure on social media. In contrast, superiority, authority, and exploitativeness did not show significant effects. Additionally, the pattern of relationships was similar for both males and females, indicating that gender did not influence narcissistic tendencies on self-disclosure. This study contributes to exploring every narcissistic dimension in a collectivist cultural context. Then, the findings provide an understanding of how personality shapes online behavior and offer insights for future cross-cultural psychological research.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of gender on emotional management, coping styles, and psychological well-being among 110 senior high school teachers in Palembang, Indonesia. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected through the Psychological Well-Being Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale, and Coping Style Questionnaire. Data analysis involved independent sample t-tests, Pearson correlations, and moderated regression. The findings revealed significant gender differences in emotional coping strategies and aspects of psychological well-being. Specifically, female teachers exhibited higher self-efficacy and tended to use emotion-oriented coping more frequently, while male teachers showed higher levels of problem-focused coping, self-acceptance, and autonomy. Crucially, gender significantly moderated the relationship between emotional coping and psychological well-being, indicating a distinct impact on how coping mechanisms influence well-being based on gender. Emotion-oriented coping was more strongly associated with psychological well-being for female teachers, whereas problem-oriented coping showed a more pronounced positive correlation for male teachers. This research highlights the critical need for gender-sensitive approaches in developing interventions aimed at optimizing teacher well-being and, consequently, enhancing educational quality.  The findings provide useful direction for developing psychological support programs that take these gender differences into account. This can help build a stronger and more effective group of teachers.

Abstract

Work engagement is one component that can predict reduced turnover in Indonesia. Generation Z employees with high work engagement feel happier and can adjust their performance in uncertain situations. This study explores the role of employee happiness and adaptive performance on work engagement in Generation Z employees in Indonesia. This quantitative correlational study involved 342 participants of Generation Z employees who has worked for at least 1 year. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling.  This study uses three measurement for data collection, namely the employee happiness, adaptive performance, and work engagement scales which were administered using the Google form platform. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis techniques conducted on SPSS. The results showed that employee happiness and adaptive performance were significantly associated with work engagement among Generation Z employees and explain 45.4% of the variance. This study highlights the needs of future studies to further explore other variable that may affect work engagement beyond to the two variables that have been studied. In addition, the result provides a theoretical basis in developing employee engagement programs for Generation Z employees.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of peer counselor training on counseling knowledge among university students as an effort to address high level of stress, anxiety, and mental health issues among students. This study employed a quasi-experimental approach using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. There were 33 from a state university students participated in this training. This study utilized a quiz-based instrument to assess peer counseling knowledge, with correct answers scored as 1 and incorrect answers as 0. The instrument was developed based on training materials covering the concept, urgency, techniques, and stages of peer counseling from Peer Counseling Program in Schools. The quiz demonstrated strong reliability (α = 0.89). The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge scores, increasing from a mean of 24.76 to 26.82. A paired-sample t-test confirmed this improvement was statistically significant (p = 0.004). These findings indicate that the peer counseling training effectively enhanced students' understanding of peer counseling. The study also underscores the importance of value-based training in strengthening peer counselors’ roles in supporting mental health in higher education.
