Abstract

In 2006 the Ministry of Religion held a Qibla direction certification program for all mosques in Indonesia as an effort to provide peace and stability in worship. However, in practice, after knowing the results of the new measurements, the mosque takmirs refused to apply them in the prayers. This is done with the reason to maintain the brotherhood of the mosque congregation. The results of this study indicate that the phenomenon of rejecting the direction of the Qibla in the maqashid sharia perspective is better than forcing the community to implement something new, which can cause damage to community unity. Because maintaining unity and integrity is part of the maqasid sharia of an Islamic law.

Abstract

Prayer times in the Parepare city, such as at the Great Mosque of Parepare, the Senggol Grand Mosque of Parepare, and mosques in all sub-districts of Parepare City still occur differences and time differences. This is based on the author's observation on 18 October 2021. The time of maghrib prayer based on the adhan varies. One mosque calls to prayer at 5:53 pm, while another calls to prayer at 6:00 pm, 5:59 pm, and the latest at 6:02 pm. This problem is the basis of research on prayer time variations in Parepare City with a Contemporary Hisab Review and Islamic Law Analysis. The objective of this research is first, to describe the way or method of determining prayer times in Parepare City Mosques. Second, to analyse the accuracy of prayer times in Parepare City Mosques in the review of Contemporary Hisab. Third, to analyse, describe and compare the difference of prayer times in Parepare City. The result of this research is that the method of determining the prayer time of Parepare City Mosques varies (Ministry of Religion Schedule, Sheikh Sa'aduddin Djambek's Timetable, Prayer Time Application, Hisab Muhammadiyah Version). The accuracy of the praying time of the mosques in Parepare City from the perspective of contemporary hisab has three categories; accurate, inaccurate and passing the time of ikhtiyat (less and more not passing 2 minutes), inaccurate and fatal (passing 2 minutes). The variation of prayer times in the Parepare city from the perspective of Islamic law is that the schedule of the five daily prayers (Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha' and Fajr) at the Al-Azhar Islamic Centre mosque, Al-Muttaqin Mosque and Nurul Asiah Mosque (especially for the Fajr prayer) is invalid, because it has not yet entered the time for the obligation to pray.

Abstract

The Altitude of the hilal mar'i has always been a major concern in the concept of hilal visibility in general. The reference for the altitude of the new moon can be found by using the Moon's semi-diameter correction. Falakiyah institutions in Indonesia, when calculating the beginning of the lunar month, always use the Moon's semi-diameter correction to determine the altitude of the new moon that can be seen by observers. Meanwhile, world astronomers do not use this correction in calculating the movement of the Moon. Using the library research method to be able to review library materials and key information documents. An astronomical approach, in order to be able to provide scientific reasons regarding the use of the Moon's semidiameter correction. The sources of reckoning data are the astronomical almanac and ephemeris reckoning of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, the reference point is the midpoint of the Moon, so all calculations using this data should not change the reference point in the semidiameter correction for the new moon altitude. This change is considered as an inconsistency of the falakiyah reckoning experts. Because, if you use a different semi-diameter correction, it will produce a different value for calculating the altitude of the new moon.

Abstract

In determining the beginning of the month of Qamariyah with the Rukyatul Hilal method, it cannot be separated from astrophotography techniques which aim to photograph celestial bodies, especially perpetuating the process of observing the new moon in the form of images or images that can be used as new moon data in a scientific development related to the new moon. Where the new moon in determining the beginning of the month is a dim and very thin object, while the witness sees it as the basis for determining the beginning of the month. Although the existence of the crescent moon in the process of processing the new moon cannot be ascertained, processing the image is able to clarify the image of the crescent moon to be more alive by following developments in optical and digital technology as one of the offers that can be used to increase objectivity in rukyatul hilal. Abstract

The Maniliak Bulan tradition is an important thing for followers of theSyattariah Pariaman Order. This religious tradition is routinely carried out everyyear to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, and has become a symbol that hasbeen passed down from generation to generation since the Syattariyah Order beganto develop in Pariaman. In addition, the purpose of the research is to find out whatactivities are in the Maniliak Bulan tradition from followers of the Syatariahcongregation. Maniliak Bulan is a religious symbol that has meanings and valuescontained in this tradition, so that the followers of the Tariqa Syattariyah Pariamanmaintain this tradition. In this study, the author uses qualitative methods, namelydescriptive qualitative research with data analysis of interview and observationtechniques related to the problems of this research using the symbolic interpretivetheory approach by Geertz can be used to dissect cultural studies both in a societydirectly and in literary works. The reason for the existence of the Maniliak Bulanritual for religious and intellectual reasons and this tradition has meaning andvalues that encourage local people to maintain this tradition. These values are inthe form of religious values, spiritual values, intellectual values and economicvalues.

Abstract

The brightness of the night sky is a necessity in astronomical observations. Sky with minimal light pollution can be optimized for observation and research. Light pollution is an obstacle in astronomical observations, one of the light pollution that affects the night sky a lot is artificial lights that are not properly conditioned. In this study, it is explained how the impact of artificial lights on good sky brightness using the Sky Quality Meter (SQM). By observing several nights, it was found that locations with a lot of light exposure can make the sky brighter ~3.3 times compared to locations with minimal light.

Abstract

The contents of the Qur'an are full of cosmocentrism dimensions that elaborate on various phenomena of the universe in it. Normative theological cues that Allah swt. convey to QS. as-Shams verses 1-6 is one of the illustrations of the Qur'an that directs humans to understand themselves by referring to various phenomena of the universe because reading the universe is an inseparable part of reading the verses of Kauniyah in addition to reading the verses qauliyah written in the Qur'an so that scientific interpretation becomes one of the appropriate interpretation approaches in its interpretation. Humans are creatures who have been equipped with various potentials, both empirical senses and rational reason, so that they are always directed to observe and reason a lot about cosmocentric universe phenomena. QS. as-Shams verses 1-6 describe how the sun, moon, day, night, sky, and earth with all the sunnatullah framework that accompanies it become one of the objects of study of astronomy which has many epistemological intersections with various cosmocentric universe phenomena through scientific interpretation.

Abstract

The view that the Earth is flat originated from the ancient civilizations of the world, such as an Ancient Egypt, Babylonia, Mesopotamia, China, and India. And survived until the time of Aristotle. This understanding was re-developed in the 18th century by an Englishman named Samuel Rowbotham who was inspired by Bible verses. In Indonesia, the idea of ​​a flat Earth began to be heavily debated in 2017 when the Flat Earth 101 YouTube page went viral. The issue of the debate over the shape of the Earth also extends to the religious aspect. Most scholars agree that the Earth is spherical and some think that the Earth is flat, but the issue of the shape of the Earth is not a form of aqidah. While, the practice of worship of Muslims is mostly determined using the calculation of the spherical Earth astronomical model. A number of observations of celestial bodies actually empirically prove the Earth is round, but some groups of people do not believe it. Keywords: Spherical Earth, Flat, Astronomy

Abstract

One of the reasons for the variation in prayer times is the difference in the methods used in making prayer time schedules. Differences in prayer times also occur in the city of Parepare, as happened between the two large mosques in the city of Parepare, namely the Grand Mosque and the Al-Azhar Islamic Center Mosque. Based on the observations of researchers on September 20, 2022 the prayer times for the two mosques are different, for example the time for the Maghrib prayer at the Grand Mosque is 17.59 WITA and the Al-Azhar Islamic Center Mosque is 18.01 WITA. This difference is due to the method used by the Great Mosque, namely the Prayer Times of all time and the Al-Azhar Islamic Center Mosque with Contemporary Hisab Ephemeris. The researcher is then interested in studying how the method of determining the reckoning of prayer times of all time and how accurate of reckoning of prayer times of all time is the Great Mosque of Parepare City from a contemporary reckoning perspective. The method used in this research is field research method to examine the beginning of the time of prayer at the Great Mosque of Parepare City. This research aims to describe the method of prayer time throughout the period of the Great Mosque of Parepare City and to analyse the accuracy of hisab prayer time throughout the period of Parepare City from the perspective of contemporary hisab. The results showed that the prayer time of the Great Mosque of Parepare City is a few minutes faster when compared to contemporary hisab.

Abstract

A calendar is an organizing system for calculating time over a certain period. Some calendar systems refer to an astronomical cycle, following a fixed rule. The main problem in this study is how the method and implementation of determining the beginning of the lunar month in the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and the Fazilet Calendar, the purpose of this study is to add to the treasury of knowledge about the Fazilet Calendar calendar method originating from the Ottoman Empire so that library research methods are used to describe various sources that are there is. The results showed that there was a difference of three to four months each year in entering the first month using the old and new MABIMS criteria and the Fazilet Calendar criteria. Differences in the beginning of the lunar month also occur because of the location of the hilal observation markaz, the Fazilet Calendar with the Ittihadul Mathali concept (imposing a global matla) while the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia with the wilayatul hukmi matlak concept.
