Abstract

The results of the observations obtained daily test scores of classes with the percentage of completeness only 60%. This shows that the learning outcomes of hydrocarbons in class X MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Bangsal can be categorized as poor. To improve learning outcomes, classroom action research was conducted which consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consists of stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of SMA Negeri 1 Bangsal Class X MIPA 3 academic year 2017/2018 which consisted of 34 students. The data collection instruments were evaluation questions for the cognitive domain which were carried out at the end of each cycle and observation sheets for the affective and psychomotor domains. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that learning using the probing prompting model can provide convenience for teachers in learning, make learning student-centered, complete learning outcomes, and can teach and train students' character behavior. The implementation of the lesson plans was categorized as good with an average score of 3.0 in the first cycle and 3.27 in the second cycle. Student activity reached 85.26% in the first cycle and increased to 92.22%. In the aspect of scientific behavior, both cycles show that they are in the good category. Mastery learning outcomes also showed an increase, from 73.77% in the first cycle to 90% in the second cycle.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative research in the form of a case study. This research was conducted at MIS Aek Riung Sigambal. There is still a school atmosphere that has not become a comfortable and fun place for children. There are still acts of violence committed by students, there are still acts of bullying, crime, smoking, brawls and cheating is still found by schools during exams. Therefore, a Child Friendly School (SRA) program is needed. The purpose of this study is to implement the Child Friendly School program and develop the character of students at MIS Aek Riung Sigambal. The respondents of this study were principals and teachers. The results of this study are the policy of child-friendly schools at MIS Aek Riung Sigambal encourages all school members to care about the school environment and to be anti-violent so that the atmosphere at school becomes healthy, safe and comfortable. MIS Aek Riung Sigambal has implemented child-friendly education, that the school has attempted various programs and activities in implementing child-friendly education. Although schools have made efforts to implement child-friendly education as best as possible, it is still said to be not optimal.

Abstract

This research entitled The Readability of Bilingual Comic “Wow of Cinderella” Translation Techniques. This research aimed to describe the translation techniques based on Molina and Albir’s theory and to know the readability of translation used in bilingual comic “Wow of Cinderella”. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data of this research were sentences in bilingual comic both English and Indonesian. The raters of this research are student of Senior High School, student of University and an English teacher. They are asking to read the bilingual comic then do the questionnaire. In analyzing the data, the writer used comparison method to compare between the SL and TL that were analyzed. The result of this research showed that target text used eighteen translation techniques. They are Adaptation 3%, Amplification 4%, Borrowing 2%, Calque 2%, Compensation 7%, Description 5%, Discursive Creation 1%, Established Equivalence 2%, Generalization 2%, Linguistics Amplification 5%, Linguistics Compression 4%, Literal Translation 34%, Modulation 9%, Particularization 1%, Reduction 5%, Substitution 1%, Transposition 9%, Variation 4%. And the percentage of the readability also shown that Readability 80%, less readability 14,67% and unreadability 5,33%. From the percentage, the researcher concludes that the translation techniques used in this bilingual comic is readability.

Abstract

Abstract This study focuses on the use of Language Style in Donald Trump and Joe Biden's victory speeches and what type of Language Style is dominant in their respective speeches. The research data was collected from the internet. This research uses a qualitative approach. In analyzing the data, this study uses Martin Jooz's (1967) Theory; Frozen Style, Formal Style, Casual Style, Consultative Style and Intimate Style. This study found 50 detected data entered into the Type of Language Style in Donald Trump's speech, namely 27 Formal Style, 13 Casual Style and 10 intimate style. And the researcher also found 50 data that entered into the type of Language Style in Joe Biden's speech, namely 36 Formal Style, 11 Casual Style, 2 Frozen Style and 1 Intimate Style. It can be concluded that Donald Trump and Joe Biden use more Formal Language Style because they speak in serious situations and in a formal place. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the types of figurative language and the most dominant types of figurative language used by speakers in kick Andy talkshow. The writers use theory by Keraf's (2010) to classify the figurative language used by speakers. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method in analyzing the data. The data were obtained from conversational sentences, and statements in the Kick Andy talk show from television shows. The amount of data from this study were figurative language sentences show that it was found hyperbole 29 (25.89%), Irony/cynicism,sarcasm 19 (16.96%), personification 18 (16.71%), allegory 13 (11,60%), methapor 11 (9,82%), metonymy 6 (5.35%), satire 5 (4,46%), synecdoche 1 (0,89%). The most dominant type of figurative language is hyperbole, it can be seen that hyperbole intends to help express strong emotions, emphasize something, or even evoke humor for the listener and can increase the impression of influence.

Abstract

English as an international language has been acknowledged. Nobody wants to be left behind in terms of international relations and competition. One must have English proficiency to win the match and conquer the world. To indicate competence is through TOEFL. The students of the University of Gunung Leuser have also been conducting such kinds of tests to measure their English proficiency but still in low results. Through analysis of variables using regression and SWOT, factors influencing English proficiency and the strategies used to improve their English, it is found that their competence is methods of teaching, learning media, learning materials, and instructors. Then, to increase their competence, the suggested strategies are improving the TOEFL course program, practising English continually, using English forums, watching English films, practising English conversation, reading English books, and providing the needed infrastructures to support the English learning environment.

Abstract

The researcher shows that the lack of mastery of English vocabulary in semester 1 students of the University of Gunung Leuser needs to be overcome using the proper technique, Think Pair Share. Increasing student activity as a learning center needs to be improved. This study aims to improve students' mastery of English vocabulary and provide appropriate techniques for vocabulary learning. There were 2 cycles carried out, with the results of the first cycle, the class average being 60 and increasing in the second cycle to 71.15, which had reached the success criteria. Apart from the results of the score, students experienced a change in attitude to be more active and focused in analysis.

That in fact independence is the right of all nations and because of that, colonialism in the world must be abolished, because it is not in accordance with humanity and justice. And the struggle for the Indonesian independence movement has come to a happy moment and safely delivered the Indonesian people to the front gate of the independence of the Indonesian State which is independent, united, sovereign, just and prosperous. By the grace of Allah the Almighty and with the encouragement of a noble desire to live a free national life, the Indonesian people hereby declare their independence. Then from that to form a Government of the State of Indonesia which protects the entire Indonesian nation and the entire homeland of Indonesia and to promote public welfare, educate the nation's life and participate in carrying out world order based on independence, eternal peace and social justice, the Indonesian National Independence was drafted. in a Constitution of the State of Indonesia, which is formed in a structure of the Republic of Indonesia, which has sovereignty of the people based on: Belief in One Supreme God, just and civilized humanity, Indonesian Unity, Democracy led by wisdom in deliberation/representation, and realizing social justice for all Indonesian people. In Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, the implementation of education must adhere to several principles, namely education is carried out in a democratic and fair manner and is not discriminatory by upholding human rights, religious values, cultural values, and national pluralism with a systemic unity with open and multi-meaning system. In addition, it must be in a process of cultivating and empowering students that lasts a lifetime by setting an example, building the will, and developing the creativity of students in the learning process through developing a culture of reading, writing, and arithmetic for all community members, empowering all components of society through the role of as well as in the implementation and control of the quality of education services. Researchers use research methods based on literature studies through literature reviews in order to obtain a factual and clear description and analysis of the objectives of the National Education System (Sisdiknas) which is based on the Pancasila philosophy and the 1945 constitution of the state, because the Pancasila philosophy is the source of all sources of law. within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

The ability to read is complex and detailed for early childhood children. In contrast to the ability to speak and listen which can be obtained naturally from their surroundings, the ability to read must be learned with certain methods. Montessori is a children's education method that can optimize children's potential through learning that involves children's sensory and motor aspects in a detailed and fun way. In Montessori, reading are introduced as fun and useful activities, which can help a child understand and appreciate the world, and share ideas and experience with other people. This article is written to explain how early childhood children learn to read by using the Montessori method. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. This research method is library research through data collection techniques obtained through books, journals, articles and other supporting sources. The results of this study explain that in the Montessori method, early childhood learns to read by using didactic materials in two stages namely Early Preparation Activities and Reading Activities. The Early Preparation Activities include Classified Pictures, Speech, and I spy. While the Reading Activities involve Object Boxes, Action Cards, Reading Folder, Puzzle Words, Book Corner and Library. All these activities have been sorted according to the level of difficulty from the simplest to the most complex which refer to the basic principles in Montessori Method.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and examine the magnitude of the relationship between parental education patterns and learning motivation of third grade students at SD Negeri 100760 Bargottopong Jae, Paluta Regency. This research includes qualitative research. This study used a sample of 6 third grade students of SD Negeri Bargottopong Jae. The data collection used using the methods of observation, interviews and documents. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results showed that there were differences in parenting applied by parents. The application of democratic parenting is mostly applied by parents, then authoritarian and permissive parenting. There are 4 parents who apply democratic parenting, 1 parent with authoritarian parenting and 1 parent with permissive parenting. Students with authoritarian and democratic parenting have good and sufficient motivation to learn. Meanwhile, students with permissive parenting have less motivation. Based on the research, it can be concluded that parenting and parental participation have an effect on students' learning motivation.
