Abstract

This study discusses about English conversation teaching by pair-work technique for the firts year English majored students. This study uses Classroom Action Research. It can be used to know the improvement of teachers’ activity and students’ ability after a particular technique applied. The research findings denoted that pair-work technique can attract the students’ motivation to take part in language teaching and improve their ability at speaking, It can seen from the improvement of students’ activities from cycle one to cycle two  (82,5 % of the students took part in the teaching -learning process or at  level 3,3 ,good category to 91,25% or at the level 3,65, good category in cycle two, and the improvement of their scores  was 7 students (21,9%) got score 70 up in pre cycle, 29 students  (90,6 %) in cycle one and 32 students (100%)  in cycle two. It can be stated that the pair-work technique is appropriate to apply in teaching speaking.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Determine the differences in student PPKn learning outcomes taught with a project-based learning model compared to students taught using a direct learning model; (2) Knowing the differences in the learning outcomes of students who have high learning motivation compared to students who have low learning motivation; (3) Knowing the interaction between the project based learning model and learning motivation in influencing the learning outcomes of students' PPKn at Primary School 106163 Percut Sei Tuan. The population in this study were the fourth grade students at Primary School 106163 Percut Sei Tuan, totaling 54 people. 4th Grade a as many as 27 students and 4th Grade / b as many as 27 students. Collecting data in this study through a questionnaire on learning motivation and learning outcomes test instruments PPKn. Hypothesis testing is done by using the Two Way Anova test. The results showed that: (1) The PPKn learning outcomes of students who were taught with the project based learning model were higher than the PPKn learning outcomes of students taught using the direct learning model (Fcount= 23.476 and the sig. 0.000> 0.05); (2) Student PPKn learning outcomes who have high learning motivation are higher than those with PPKn learning outcomes of students who have low learning motivation (Fcount = 7.673 and sig. 0.008> 0.05); (3) There is an interaction between the project based learning model and learning motivation in influencing students' PPKn learning outcomes (Fcount = 13.003 and sig. 0.001> 0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of indifdual jump rope games and grouop jump rope on physical fitness and student motivation on futsal extracurricular students in MTs NU Berbek Waru Sidoarjo . This Study uses a quantitative approach to quasy expereriment research and the design ued is matching only design. The subjects of this study were 33 students who will be pretested to determine the  division of groups. 11 students as the experimental group I were given the treatment of jump rope games individually and thefollowing 11 students as the experimental group II were reated as a group of jump rope games and the remeaning 11 studentswere made as a control group. Data collection methods in this study used two research instruments, namely the TKJI test to measure physical fitness scores and the motivation levels. Data werw analyzed with descriptive statistics using the SPSS 22.0 program. Based on the data obtained it can be concluded that there was a more significant increase in the two experimental groups compared to the control group. Physical fitness in all three groups experienced an increase, nmely by 6 % in group I, 9% in gropu II and 2 % in group III. Student motivation has increased by 3% while in group III student motivation has descread by 1%. The result of the study have proven that individual jump rope games and jump rope games in groups can improve the level of physicl fitness and motivation of students in following futsal extracurricular

Abstract

Teaching materials playing a vital role in supporting the learning process in a classroom. The right teaching materials will make the learning process more effective. The problem that is often faced by students is the teaching materials that are not appropriate, so that it lowers student learning outcomes. This causes the low learning outcomes of students in class XI economics MA Madinatusallam. For this reason, researchers try to investigate the effectiveness of e-pocketbook teaching materials. Field test results showed that the experimental class obtained higher learning outcomes than the control class, with a significant difference (p = <.05).

Abstract

The aims of knowing: 1) The relationship between self-concept and mathematics learning outcomes of grade VII MTsN 2 Palangka Raya students based on visual learning styles. 2) The relationship between self-concept and mathematics learning outcomes for grade VII MTsN 2 Palangka Raya students based on auditory learning styles. 3) The relationship between self-concept and mathematics learning outcomes for grade VII students of MTsN 2 Palangka Raya City based on kinesthetic learning styles. This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of correlational research. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. Based on the results of the self-concept questionnaire test results obtained 20 valid statements with a reliability coefficient of️11 = 0.84, and for the test of mathematics learning outcomes obtained 27 valid questions with a reliability coefficient️11 = 0.87. Prerequisite test results of parametric statistical analysis for normality test based on visual learning style, self-concept data obtained️2count = 31.99 > 9.49=️2tables and data on mathematics learning outcomes️2count = 13.07 > 11.07 =️2table with dk = i – 3 = 8 – 3 = 5 and a significant level of 5% which means that all data are not normally distributed. For the normality test based on the auditory learning style, self-concept data were obtained️2count = 9.21 > 7.81=️2tables and data on mathematics learning outcomes️2count = 2.76 < 7.81 =️2table with dk = i – 3 = 6 – 3 = 3 and a significant level of 5%, which means that self-concept data is not normally distributed and data on mathematics learning outcomes is normally distributed. Meanwhile, for the normality test based on kinesthetic learning styles, self-concept data were obtained️2count = 27.29 > 9.49=️2tables and data on mathematics learning outcomes️2count = 1.13 < 5.99 =️2table with dk = i – 3 = 5 – 3 = 2 and a significant level of 5%, which means that the concept data is not normally distributed and the data on mathematics learning outcomes is normally distributed. The results of the study show that: (1) there is a significant positive relationship between self-concept and students' mathematics learning outcomes based on visual learning styles, the correlation coefficient is = 0.174; (2) self-concept with students' mathematics learning outcomes based on auditory learning style, the correlation coefficient is = 0.390; (3) there is a significant positive relationship between self-concept and students' mathematics learning outcomes based on kinesthetic learning styles, the correlation coefficient is = 0.549.

Abstract

The impact of the globalization era is very influential on the character of the younger generation today, especially students. There are many impacts that we can feel with the current era of globalization which has a major influence on the character of students. To overcome the degradation impact of the current globalization era, we must try to re-instill character education in students. This is so that students can slowly reduce and even get rid of actions that are not commendable. There are many ways we can re-instill character education in students. One of them is through literature. Literary works are very diverse, one of which is the literary work “Serat Wedhatama”. The research aims to instill character education in students through the texts in “Serat Wedhatama”. The research is included in qualitative research, the primary data in this study are the texts of “Serat Wedhatama”, while the secondary data in this study are books, journals, and others that can support the success of this research. The results of this study include, 1) the text “Serat Wedhatama I” contains religious character education devoted to God Almighty; 2) the text “Serat Wedhatama II” contains religious character education inculcating a sense of tolerance; 3) the text “Serat Wedhatama III” contains religious character education of perseverance in worshiping God Almighty; and 4) in the text “Serat Wedhatama IV” contains religious character education living guided by Islamic principles.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the elements forming the interrogative sentences in interrogative construction of Javanese language using X-Bar theory. Interrogative construction in a sentence requires yes/no answers or new information is required. The object of the research is interrogative construction in Javanese. The data obtained are interrogative sentences in Javanese. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data analysis was carried out by condensing data, displaying data and conclusions. From the results of the study it was found that the interrogative construction in Javanese can be concluded that the position of the functional category of interrogative sentence lies in the position of the specifier, complement, and complement. Direct question words with yes/no answers and echo questions occupy positions as complements. Direct question words that require answers such as question words, ing endi (where), and kepriye (how) occupy positions as complements. Meanwhile, a direct question words that require answers, such as the question words sapa (who) and kapan (when) occupy a position as a specifier.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the types of sound symbolism in English and Japanese. The data used is derived from the research results of sound symbolism in English and Japanese. The method used is a qualitative method. Data collection and technique of data analysis are using data condensation techniques, data presentation and conclusion drawing. From the results of the analysis, it was found that there are four types of sound symbolism in English, namely physical, imitation, synthetic and conventional sound symbolism, while in Japanese sound symbolism belongs to the onomatopoeic category. There are five types of onomatopoeic, namely giongo, giseigo, gitaogo, giyougo, and gijougo. The phonemes involved in sound symbolism in English are dominated by the vowel /a,o/ while in Japanese it is dominated by the vowel /e,a/.

Abstract

German is taught as a foreign language in high schools or universities. Four basic language skills, namely listening, reading, speaking and writing are to be acquired. Listening and reading comprehension are receptive skills, while speaking and writing skills are productive skills. In reality, many german learners have difficulty reading. Teachers need to have proper reading strategies that can make it easier for german learners to understand text. Difficulties in reading comprehension or a general overstrain with the selected teaching texts can result in a lack of motivation to learn.  It could be that a technique used does not fit in the class. One strategy that can be used is the KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) reading strategy. The effect of this is that german learners become active themselves in the classroom and also show more motivation, as they can work together to develop titles, images and explanations of a text. The teacher is available to provide learners with information related to the topic. Then the topic is discussed together.  Then the learners write a few questions and try to determine them independently into information categories.  Finally they do a mapping and write a little résumé. They will also present their completed assignment while the teacher gives them comments. It has emerged from this that the use of technology in the class is more interested in reading lessons or also answer. They then discuss it with the others in order to awaken German learning.

Abstract

The implementation of the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) program is mandated by the Department of Education (DepEd) for implementation in schools as an assessment tool in determining the performance of learners in reading proficiency. This paper critically analyzed the implementation of Phil-IRI in schools as a prescribed reading program of DepEd. Following a critical analysis approach, the paper explored the problems encountered in the program implementation. The results of the inventory serve as the basis for teachers in creating appropriate reading intervention initiatives to improve the performance of struggling readers. Challenges were revealed along the Phil-IRI implementation which drew setbacks on literacy improvement, writing and reading proficiency of the learners. In the implementation process, some teachers were not adherent nor consistent to program interventions since they are already bombarded with workloads in their teaching tasks and so many paper- works for submission, apart from the time-consuming reading interventions. It was difficult to carry out the appropriate reading remediation in view of teaching time constraints and too many assigned works coupled with the insufficient instructional reading materials, limited or no technological facility and limited library resources. Indeed, developing the reading ability of learners with reading difficulties has never been an easy feat for the reading teachers.
