Abstract

The tourism potential of East Kalimantan is located in the Berau district, namely Derawan Island that offers charming marine tourism destinations and underwater parks that interest national and foreign tourists. The problem's urgency was collected from the field analysis results by observing, listening and interviewing all tourism actors on Derawan Island. From the results of identifying urgency or problems that occur as phenomena on Derawan Island, it will be the primary instrument in the GAP analysis, which becomes one of the methods to identify the right solution in creating recommendations for solving problems that occur on Derawan Island. The initial step considered in the development of ecotourism on Derawan Island is to determine a clear idea about the object that will be planned as an ecotourism object and strategies are used to develop it, as well as to conduct a feasibility study related to the weaknesses and strengths of the resources available in the area. To be used as the basis for preparing project plans, infrastructure development, operation of Pokdarwis (tourism awareness groups) as local tourism communities, determination of market (marketing) strategies, and product development as activities to increase tourism business capacity.

Abstract

In research on renewable power plants. Fuel from petroleum, if consumed continuously, will run out over time. Research on alternative fuels to replace petroleum-based fuels continues to be carried out, one of which is research on Biodiesel/Biosol. Biodiesel is a substitute for diesel fuel derived from vegetable raw materials. The advantage of biodiesel over diesel is that it is more environmentally friendly. Biodiesel has started to be produced and marketed in Indonesia. Used cooking oil is easy to obtain, therefore the production of biodiesel from used cooking oil can be carried out by small industries. The process of producing biodiesel from used cooking oil uses the transesterification method. This research is expected to provide benefits as a business opportunity for small industrial-scale biodiesel production, provide economic value to used cooking oil, overcome household and industrial waste disposal, provide input to the industry so that they can produce fuel independently, and provide input to local governments so that they can producing biodiesel so that it becomes an energy-independent area. The physical test results of biodiesel from used cooking oil showed a density of 0.8780 gr/ml, a viscosity of 6.118 mm 2/s, a flashpoint of 178 oC, a carbon residue of 0.0006 %Wt, an ash content of 0.0397% WT, and a gross heating value of 19400 BTU/lb. In general, biodiesel has physical properties similar to diesel so it can be used as a mixture of diesel or diesel fuel substitutes.

Abstract

Research on students' error writing has grown in the last few decades. In general, research on writing errors focuses on the results of students' writing in classes with various writing genres. Students in university also find some obstacle in their English writing, especially for EFL students that write their thesis in English.  The students still made errors in their thesis of writing. However, research on errors in thesis writing is relatively unexplored. Therefore this study tries to explore the errors made by students when writing their thesis and factors of error making. This study uses data on ten students’ undergraduate theses, which were randomly selected from 100 student theses from 2018-2021, and used an error analysis framework put forward by (Dulay et al., 1982). The results show that six categories of errors found in the student thesis, namely errors in the use of verbs with 24.54%, errors in the application of prepositions 24.39%, morphological errors 20.12%, errors in using articles 12.58%, errors in writing passive voice 9.45%, and the use of tense selection with 8.92%. Inter-lingual factors cause errors in students' thesis writing. The findings shows that the students in writing thesis still made errors even though they have been guided by the thesis supervisors. Therefore, in teaching academic writing, it is advisable to pay attention to these two factors so that students' writing abilities can improve. Further studies on error analysis in thesis writing are still needed to explore with varied types of errors and more data for analysis.
