Abstract

In early 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread and had many impacts on various sectors throughout the world, including in the economic and social fields. This then also affects how companies adapt to current work methods. One of the significant changes as a result of COVID-19 is the increasing number of companies adopting flexible work arrangements (Kramer & Kramer, 2020). On the other hand, flexible work arrangements also increase the pressure on the balance of work and domestic work (Kazekami, 2020). In many developing countries, many employees are suddenly forced to telecommute because of the pandemic. As a result, they need to make some adjustments that can have an impact on their performance, satisfaction, and loyalty to the company. The aims of this study were: first to examine the effect of work flexibility on work-family conflict and mental health, especially on job stress; the second investigates whether work-family conflict and job stress mediate between job flexibility and employee job satisfaction; and third, to investigate whether work flexibility has a role on employee organizational commitment mediated by work-family conflict, job stress, and job satisfaction. This research is descriptive to describe the characteristics and phenomena studied. The research was conducted using a survey method using a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire with a Likert scale weighting. This study produces new information that explains the relationship structure of the relationship between job flexibility and employee commitment to the company. The results of this study indicate that commitment to the company is directly influenced by job satisfaction. Then not only job satisfaction, a person's stress level at work also has an influence on one's commitment, this is indicated by the influence that involves mediating one's work satisfaction.

Abstract

The increase in the population in Jayapura, followed by an increase in the amount of waste produced, needs to be supported by efficient transportation facilities and infrastructure. The cause of the condition of the accumulation of waste in several areas after the daily transportation schedule is carried out is the limited fuel cost and transportation routes that are less effective and efficient. The purpose of this research is to know efficient waste transportation. From the results of the analysis, the route generated by using the savings matrix calculation for each dump truck managed to save the distance of 0.5 km-3.5 Km, saving fuel costs of Rp. 125,469 - 351,313 /truck-year, and save on fuel costs of Rp. 878,281/Year. The results obtained for the needs of waste transport vehicles and the frequency of rites needed by the Abepura District are 14 units of dump trucks with 2 repetitions, and 5 units of arm roll trucks with 3 repetitions.

Abstract

Veterinary is one of the fields of medical science whose treatment targets are animals. Veterinary medicine is often underestimated because the focus of this type of treatment, psychological analysis, prevention and surgery is only for the animal world. Herbal medicine, both herbal medicine and traditional medicine for generations, is a treatment that was used before veterinary science took over in various treatments for livestock or pets. But when herbal medicine and traditional ingredients cannot provide a solution to various critical diseases in animals, then the use of human medicine becomes an alternative. When humans think that when they are sick they are given one of the drugs for example drug A (medicine for humans) and recover, then the same is true for animals. The lack of veterinary personnel in Indonesia is often the reason for the use of these human drugs. There must be a cure if it is true that human medicine is used for animals, but if consumption of livestock such as cows, goats, fish, etc. are continuously given human antibiotics, it will have a negative impact which will give rise to super bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. Structuring the laws governing the prohibition of the use of human drugs for the veterinary sector is very important because veterinarians in various regions often use human drugs if no drugs are found to treat the disease in the animal. Arrangements are also needed to regulate veterinary pharmacies which are currently attracting the attention of various groups which will clash with pet shops or poultry shops which also provide various kinds of veterinary medicines.

Abstract

Besides having a positive impact on the economy, the rapid development of the financial technology (fintech) industry, which still has weak supervision and low public understanding, has led certain parties to make fintech a crime medium, such as the rise of online loans that do not comply with regulations. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this paper analyzes data from related agency documents, to explain the phenomenon of fintech lending or known as online lending (pinjol) in Indonesia from the point of view of strategic intelligence. From the data and analysis carried out, it was found that borrowing is not only detrimental to the economy but also has an impact on the social aspects of the community. The ease of making loan applications, unclear regulations coupled with low public understanding, and high economic needs have made illegal lending grow rapidly.

Abstract

One of the elements in the criminal act of corruption is the loss of state finances. Against this state financial loss, the good old Corruption Law, namely Law no. 3 of 1971 and the newer Law no. 31 of 1999 in conjunction with Law no. 20 of 2001, stipulates a policy that state financial losses must be returned or replaced by perpetrators of corruption (Asset Recovery). The application of the law on state financial losses in relation to criminal acts of corruption that must be proven is the existence of state financial losses that have a causal relationship with the actions of the perpetrators of corruption. In this paper, the author uses a descriptive qualitative methodology to describe the conditions as they are, without giving treatment or manipulation to the variables studied.

Abstract

One of the effects of industrial development in plantation is the development in shipping and trade. Before the existence of plantations in East Sumatera, shipping and trade in Medan were centered at Labuhan Deli, as a river seaport. Periodically, shipping and trade activities at Labuhan Deli were in export and import from and to Malaya Peninsula (Penang and Malacca) and Singapore. The growth of plantations, of course, needed effective and efficient transportation. After the economy grew and was developed, Labuhan Deli as a river seaport was considered not effective and efficient anymore since ships with large cargoes could not sail on the river. Therefore, the Netherlands East Indies Government made a policy to build a new seaport which was located by the seaside in order to make loading and unloading goods easier. The Netherlands East Indies Government finally selected Belawan to be a new seaport for Medan. The research problems were as follows: how was the existence of Labuhan Deli by the policy of the Netherlands East Indies Government in moving the seaport to Belawan and what was the reason? How were the shipping and trade in Belawan seaport? These questions would be discussed in this research by using archives as the source and several writings published in Medan during the Dutch colonial period. The objective of the research was to describe the economic condition of the plantations which could change various aspects, specifically in shipping and trade. The research used historical research method which largely used archives from the Dutch colonial period, especially the statistics of shipping and trade, and the reports from BOW (Public Works Agency).

Abstract

PT. S has been trading on imported food coloring and flavorings in Indonesia for over seventeen years. Specifically, it is a subsidiary of a multi-corporate organization that boosts the latest technology in the food coloring industry. Although the Indonesian market for food and beverages is still growing, PT. S has not been performing well in recent years. The inefficient local operational and management activities forced its head office to change its strategy to survive and remain competitive in the industry. The poor performance has prompted a change in the business model, leading to a shift from the direct sales methods to the utilization of distributors. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the impact of change in the business model. A descriptive qualitative model with the case study method and a single unit for analysis were used. The data was collected through observation, a document study, and interviews. Furthermore, the triangulation method was used to process the data, which was then analyzed through value chain analysis and strategic cost management. The analysis also focused on activity-based cost management and customer profitability. The result showed that this business model successfully improves the company’s financial performance, though several processes need further attention.
