Abstract

The ports’ sites on the river bank were closely related to the river, as the primary and easy means of transportation. Through rivers, the crops from upstream were brought to downstream to be traded and exported abroad, especially to Penang. On the other hand, it was also through the river that the goods were imported from downstream to upstream. In other words, with the absence of land transport, the rivers became very dominant. However, after the presence of plantations, the abundant crops required a more efficient and effective transportation, therefore, the development of land transport, for instance railroad and highway, were paramount. The construction of land transportation facilities certainly had an impact on river transportation. The impact was that river transportation was increasingly abandoned because it was ineffective and inefficient. However, there were several rivers that remained became the most important means of transportation.

Abstract

As the oldest educational institution in Southeast Asia, dayah has not received wide attention from researchers at international, national and even local levels. This paper was carried out to see the revival of Dayah in Aceh through the spread of the Dayah Darussalam network. Previously the dayah had passed the phase. First, the initial phase. This phase is marked by the establishment of Dayah Zawiyah Cot Kala in the 10th century AD. Second, the golden phase. This phase occurs around the 16-18th century. This golden phase was marked by the establishment of Dayah Manyang Baiturrahman . Third, the phase of decline. This phase began since the Dutch launched their aggression in Aceh in 1873. The phase of the decline of the dayah is marked by two things: (1) the dayah scholars split their focus between conducting educational activities and physical resistance to expel the Dutch colonizers; (2) the dayah curriculum at that time began to be limited only to religious studies. And finally the phase of the Dayah awakening marked by the spread of the Dayah Darussalam network. This can be seen from the four generations who have studied in the Dayah Darussalam. The four generations formed the Dayah Darussalam network by establishing a dayah after they finished learning in the Dayah Darussalam.

Abstract

This research deals with an urgency for extraordinary member to take tests to fulfil the requirements to be notary public official. This type of research used in this study is normative legal research. The results shows that The extraordinary Members Tests of Indonesian Notary Association is only a formality aimed at introducing Statutes and bylaws of Indonesian Notary Association, Organizational Regulations and Composition of Indonesian Notary Association Management to prospective members who take the tests of extraordinary members. Because there is a formality, no tests participants do not pass as long as the tests follow the entire tests material. Therefore the Writers' team considers that the extraordinary member tests are more effective when they are turned into a seminar or training course because the basic objective is only to introduce the organization.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the theory of inflation according to al-Maqrīzī and ways to overcome it and determine the differences in inflation theory according to al-Maqrīzī with modern economics. Data collection techniques are used by collecting his works both personally and jointly and are traced by other people's work on figures as secondary data. Analysis of the data used is content analysis. This research shows that inflation is a natural phenomenon that afflicts the lives of people throughout the world from the past until now. Inflation will occur when prices generally increase and continue. The way to deal with inflation is to overcome it by eliminating the causes of inflation such as corruption, excessive taxation, and the creation of excessive currency. He emphasized the use of dinars and dirhams in dealing with inflation. Al-Maqrīzī thought is not inferior to those of Western economists from the 19th Century and 20th Century.

Abstract

This paper describes the thoughts of Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) about religion and democracy. Abducting Abdurrahman's thoughts about religion and democracy today is not only relevant, but important, especially in the midst of various radicalism issues that are currently being discussed today. The issue of radicalism which is generally directed at Muslims is suspected because of the desire of a group of Muslims to make Islam appear in its formal form in this country, in other words they want to make Indonesia an Islamic state. This desire which was opposed by Abdurrahman by considering the plurality of the nation, especially according to Abdurrahman, there is no standard provision of the state in Islam. By using library data, it is concluded that specifically in seeing the relationship between Islam and democracy there are three kinds of responses, namely integrative, facultative, and confrontational. In addition, Abdurrahman firmly said that Islam does not need to be present in a formal form in this country, just enough substance that is when Islamic values are realized in democracy, because the teachings of democracy do exist in Islam.
