Abstract

The issue of Firm Value should be thoroughly investigated. Firm value is an essential indicator for investors in making investment decisions investing their funds in the company. The high corporate value will impact market confidence and prospects for the company. This study analyses Corporate Financial Performance and Investment Opportunities Set on Company Value. This research was conducted at Compass 100 and LQ45 companies, with a research sample of 170 and 90, respectively, for 2017-2021. To test the hypothesis of this study using the Fixed Effect method for the Compass 100 index and the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method for the LQ45 index. The results of this study indicate that the Compass 100 Investment Opportunity Set index affects firm value, but Corporate Financial Performance has no impact on firm value. In the LQ45 Investment Opportunity Set index, it affects company value, but Corporate Financial Performance does not affect company value. The LQ 45 index has better investment opportunities in the future than the Compass 100 index, meaning that the LQ 45 has a much higher growth opportunity. The company's value has always been a benchmark for the company's offering to investors; with good prospects for the company in the future, it will be a concern for investors; investors will observe the development of the company's value from time to time. When the company can maximize performance properly, the value of the company will be better.

Abstract

This study embarks on an exploration to address the complex issue of defining religious obligations within the framework of Indonesian society. It is particularly important to understand these obligations in the context of Indonesia's foundational ideology, Pancasila, the foremost principle of which affirms a belief in a Single, Supreme God. Given the legal and ethical complexities involved, a juridical-normative approach is employed as the analytical lens to scrutinize and understand policy-related aspects surrounding the religious obligations in Indonesia. The juridical-normative methodology is particularly useful for unearthing and interpreting governmental policies and societal norms that influence religious adherence in the country. Although the Indonesian government does not explicitly mandate its citizens to follow only the religions it formally recognizes namely Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism there exists an underlying tension between formal recognition and actual practice. The findings indicate that in practice, adherents of other local belief systems such as Sunda Wiwitan, Kaharingan, and Parmalim, which have been passed down from generation to generation, often face discriminatory treatment that belies the spirit of the Pancasila's first principle. The study reveals a nuanced picture where, on the one hand, there is an officially sanctioned list of recognized religions, and on the other, a ground reality where not all spiritual paths are treated equally. This divergence between policy and practice raises questions about the extent to which Indonesia's constitutional laws and its foundational Pancasila ideology are applied uniformly across its diverse religious landscape. The study serves as a steppingstone for further dialogue and research into the complexities of religious obligations and freedoms within Indonesia, particularly in the context of its legal and ethical framework.

Abstract

As competition continues to intensify across various industry sectors, companies are compelled to formulate strategies to remain competitive. One commonly used strategy is expansion through Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), which, in theory, should create synergy and added value for the company. This research aims to test the effects of post-merger synergy, specifically operational synergy tested using Sales Growth and Earnings Per Share (EPS), and financial synergy tested using Debt Equity Ratio (DER). The study examined 17 companies that underwent M&A during the years 2015-2019, with a testing period of 3 years before and after the events, divided into 12 quarters. The research results indicate no significant differences in the three variables. Meanwhile, the synergy level tests using Gain Score Analysis show that 58.82% of companies did not experience operational synergy, as tested using Sales Growth. Furthermore, 64.71% of companies did not experience operational synergy, as tested using Earnings Per Share (EPS). Additionally, 47.06% of companies did not experience financial synergy, as tested using Debt Equity Ratio (DER).

Abstract

The purpose of this article entitled "Naki-naki: Oral Tradition of the Karo Tribe in North Sumatra" is to examine the context of the traditional courtship system among the young people using oral tradition (oral literature) in the Karo community that developed in ancient times. The Karo community has a unique tradition in finding a life partner. Karo youths, whether male or female, are encouraged to marry (erjabu) as soon as they reach adulthood. Adult males are referred to as "anak perana" and are identified by characteristics such as wearing long pants (saluar gedang) and sleeping in the traditional Karo building called "jambur." Adult females are known as "singuda-nguda" and are identified by characteristics such as menstruation, participation in youth work groups, including communal activities and involvement in artistic festivals (guro-guro-aron).The stages of introduction between young people begin with the tradition of "ngaras-ngaras" and continue with "ertutur." Ertutur can be done with the help of friends, family intermediaries, or directly. The introduction then progresses to a stage known as "Naki-naki." Naki-naki is the moment when the "anak perana" endeavors to convince the "singuda-nguda" to fully accept him for marriage. Naki-naki involves using the eloquent Karo language and is often done at night on the terrace of the house ("ture") or inside the house. The goal is for the couple and their families to get to know each other well.

Abstract

Betawi language, the original language of Jakarta's indigenous population, is currently facing a critical situation due to the rapid progress and changes in the city's social and cultural landscape. This predicament underscores the urgent need for strong and effective strategies to preserve this linguistic heritage. This concern stems from concerns that the extinction of the Betawi language will result in failure to pass on the valuable traditions, technology, cultural norms and customs of the Betawi people to future generations. The loss of such a civilization signals the collapse of a rich and unique cultural heritage. This research was designed to examine the current health and vitality of the Betawi language, using the disciplines of Social Semiotics, Demography and Sociology as the methodological framework. Rather than relying solely on quantitative data, this research uses a qualitative approach to capture particular intricacies, nuances, and preferences regarding language use and meaning. The findings of this research indicate that the Betawi language is more vulnerable today than in the past, and this decline has severe consequences for the Betawi community. Despite these challenges, educational interventions show promise in helping to preserve the language. In the future, it is important to develop a comprehensive strategy for preserving the Betawi language that involves the collaboration of various stakeholders in various sectors.
