Throughout history, women have always sought their rights and place and this has long been the subject of much debate among writers and critics. So writers and critics, both men and women have reflected this issue in their works in different ways. From the very outset of her career, Luce Irigaray showed a keen interest in the exploration of the key role that language has in determining how women are evaluated in their society and the position they hold in it. In order to show resistance to masculine values imposed on them, women resort to strongholds such as mimesis in opposition. This paper aims to primarily, trace the backgrounds of this notion, secondly, to pursue the effect and use of it by women characters and to depict in what way it is employed as a means of resistance. Examples that will be provided shall be selected from the play “Oleanna”, a modern play written by David Mamet.

Until now there has been no research result that comprehensively analyzes the relationship between the Qur'an and kinesik aspects as part of the realm of nonverbal communication. In fact, besides loading many terms regarding verbal communication, the Qur'an also gives a signal about the reality of nonverbal communication. One of the signs is enshrined in the Surah asa Abasa / 80 verse 1 as a Makkiyah category. The verse tells of the nonverbality of communication that Muhammad committed against a blind man named ‘Abdullah Ibn Ummi Maktum. The codification carried out by the Qur'an on the events of the past 14 centuries shows the magnitude of the Qur'an's attention to nonverbal aspects, especially kinesik, in human life. Therefore, in addition to the Surah / Abasa / 80 verse 1, it is assumed that there are also other verses that contain kinesik content both facial, gestural, and postural in the Holy Qur'an. Based on this, this study was conducted to identify which verses were revealed to Muhammad who talked about kinesik and how the verses were relevant to the development of scientific communication. From the results of the research carried out qualitatively with mix-method patterns that combine reference research (library research) and text analysis (content analysis) with thematic interpretive approaches (mauḍu'iy) it was found that the verses of the Qur'an which describe the communication process explicitly illustrates that potential kinesic aspects occur throughout the period in the process of human interaction. The Al-Qur'an contains information about kinesik processes that occur spontaneously, naturally, and conditionally. This shows that the presentation of kinesik verses is relevant to proceed in the global era, even throughout modern human life.

This paper traces Foucault’s notion of power in Kate Chopin’s The Awakening. The writers bring into the light, different aspects of a woman’s position in the society of late nineteenth-century America. Paper looks at private and social conditions of women, using Foucault’s ideology of power, and discuss the reactions of Chopin’s protagonist in relation to her actions towards the workings of power in her life. With a close analysis of the novel based on Foucault’s ideology of power, researchers discuss the workings of power in the protagonist’s married and social life, including her efforts to set herself free from this power and her process of resistance analyzed according to Foucault’s theory. The research comes to the conclusion that the impossibility of acting outside power, the possibility of resisting power from within and Foucault’s “Care of the self” as the only way to traverse the power-defined failed of possible actions. Paper shows that, Chopin’s protagonist does not resist patriarchy based on Foucault’s methods and her actions towards power do not lead to any effective ending.

The election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of North Sumatra Province in 2018 presents a unique practice of identity politics with the complexity of the political system and democratic practices. This research finds the practice of identity politics running in the 2018 Pilgubsu process, where each candidate uses closeness in ethnicity and religiosity in political practice; campaign until the selected work program. In accordance with the characteristics of the data, the research method used in this study is a qualitative approach with the main focus is to explain the factors that led to the emergence of religious identity politics in multicultural societies in North Sumatra through a democratic process. Data collection techniques used observation, literature review and in-depth interviews. The data obtained were analyzed and outlined in the form of field reports. The results of the study illustrate thatGovernor-elect Edy Rahmayadi explicitly and implicitly acknowledged the use of identity politics in the 2018 Pilgubsu contest; campaign slogans, campaign processes to success teams through various political media. The practice of identity politics in the 2018 Pilgubsu is inseparable from a series of national politics from the post-reform era to direct elections since the era of regional autonomy. The long political dialogue then resulted in political reconfiguration as a movement towards the development of positive political discourse and as part of further political education for the wider community. The reconstruction of the democratic process in the context of direct regional head elections is carried out to minimize the negative impact by political parties and the government on the direct regional head election process.

The development of photography both directly and indirectly is in line with the development of the journalistic field. Digital technology that is growing rapidly at this time also provides a significant contribution. Photos that record an event can be immediately disseminated in seconds using digital cameras and computer devices that have internet facilities. the photos that analyzed the meaning of photo denotations that appear such as mass mobilization, burning actions due to clashes between the masses and the police as well as photos of the Jakarta Governor's trial non-active Basuki Tjahja Purnama or Ahok reinforces the narrative that delivers news showing the two daily newspaper media giving support or partisanship to the actions of defending Islam 411 and 212. The meaning of connotations that appear in photographs can be seen from the photo taking process which generally from the upper and front sides of the object gives an impression of object density in the resulting image, further reinforcing the assumption of daily media alignment who only saw the Defensive Action of Islam 411 and 212 as a news commodity not a movement that defended the banners of Islam or defended a suspect in the religion, namely Basuki Tjahja Purnama or Ahok.
