Abstract

Saka Bali Arts, as one of the home-based woodcarving industries in Singapadu Village, Gianyar Regency, Bali, has a potential to process white sandstone residue into artworks. Using sandstone as the main base material, Saka BaliĀ  Arts produces 1.4 cubic to 2 tons monthly of sandstone residue. Normally, this is disposed of or used as landfill material for building construction or sent to other vendors to produce artworks like small sculptures and reliefs with simpler shapes, depending on the customer's demand. However, producing processed white sandstone residue received little attention from producers and consumers. This situation resulted in the lack of diversified artwork products displayed on the storefront. The main reasons are the lack of local artisans' skills to produce different kinds of products from sandstone residue and the lack of a marketing development strategy, so the market reach of processed sandstone residue is unexploited. Hence, efforts are needed to develop more specific interior products and a product diversification strategy through product recycling to increase long-term sales. Another way to support this is by optimizing branding and marketing to expand marketing. This study uses the methodology of Murdjito (2022) in the form of stages carried out in the implementation of community service activities. In the long term, we expect Saka Bali Arts to become a model for similar home-based industries in optimizing white parasite stone material residues through increased product innovation, sales, and profitability.

Abstract

The daily use of plastic bags on a large scale has an impact on the increasing amount of plastic bag waste generated. Responding to these problems, the author initiated the utilization of plastic bag waste in the interior field, namely by upcycling plastic bag waste using crochet techniques for making upholstery on pouf products. That way in this design can be formulated a problem of how to process plastic bag waste with crochet techniques into upholstery on pouf products. The purpose of designing this work is to provide alternatives and variations in the processing of plastic bag waste using crochet techniques. This design uses the method of creation proposed by Palgunadi (2007), which includes three processes of planning and making products, namely the exploration process, extraction process, and termination point. The results obtained from this design are that plastic bag waste, especially HDPE types, can be made into plastic fibers because this plastic waste has a medium thickness, but is still strong and very much available. Furthermore, to process plastic waste into plastic fibers, steps are needed such as sorting, cleaning and then cutting plastic bag waste to produce plastic fibers that are ready to be crocheted to produce upholstery poufs that are in accordance with taste.

Abstract

The implementation of interior concept that contain elements of local culture based on the area where a hotel is located is a form of respect for the culture itself that can be carried out by an interior designer in designing the hotel. Swiss-Belresort Dago Heritage Bandung is one of the four-star resort hotels that applies this concept, as a tribute to the local culture of West Java, according to the context and location where the hotel was built. One of the local elements representing the culture of the West Java region that can be raised is the decorative elements on batik, especially particular batik of the West Java region because Swiss-Belresort Dago Heritage Bandung is located in West Java. Cupat Manggu is a typical West Javanese batik motif that describes the philosophy of an agrarian concept in West Java with a flora theme. The Cupat Manggu (mangosteen fruit) motif is a typical Tasikmalaya motif inspired by fruit (mangosteen) motif which can be explored further as an aesthetic element in the interior design. This research explains the exploration of the Cupat Manggu batik motif in the interior of the Swiss-Belresort Dago Heritage Bandung hotel restaurant. The design method is divided into five stages, namely the identification & empatize, define, ideate, prototype, and design result stages. The result of this design is the visualization of the new Swiss-Belresort Dago Heritage Bandung hotel restaurant space with the implementation of the Cupat Manggu batik motif which is made with stylized shapes and more modern interior finishing materials.

Abstract

The design of this final task served to introduce the large masses the unique food of the town of Ambon in order to preserve the traditional culinary areas. Because many still do not know that much of the food from Ambon is unique and worth tasting and still lack of media information about the culinary region. Research methods are conducted using qualitative descriptive research with data collection of interviews, questionnaires, library studies and observations. As a result of the questionnaires being distributed online, the authors found that 153 respondents feel that Indonesia has an interesting tourist attraction, one of which is the culinary tour of Ambon, in which ambon's culinary tour is still poorly known and the media information is inadequate. Respondents agree that books can be one of the good information media, so Ambon's typical culinary book is prepared by adapting the Bullet journal form and other supporting media to be more attractive and interactive. It is hoped that this design will enable the cuisine of the region especially of the city of Ambon to be better known and preserved.

Abstract

Pokekea site, located in the Besoa Valley of Lore Lindu National Park in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, is a megalithic site rich in cultural and historical artifacts. This study aims to examine how visual perspectives and cultural interactions at the Pokekea site have influenced changes in the values and identity of local life. A qualitative method with a cultural anthropology approach was used to observe and analyze the changes in visual and cultural aspects that occurred by collecting data through discussion, participatory observation, and document study. The results showed that visual perspectives and cultural value interactions have caused a shift in values and identity at the Pokekea megalithic site in Besoa Valley. Traditional values that are local and communitarian have led to formal values that are global. The visual perspective is seen in the aesthetic function of megalithic objects as inanimate objects that tend to be more open to change and innovation and are more easily influenced by outside cultures, which, of course, the interaction of cultural values will be a strategic effort to maintain a balance between the preservation of traditional culture and adaptation to changing times.
