Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, communication technology increasingly controls all aspects of human life, in order to achieve success in studying, resilience is essential for Indonesian students. This study aims to empirically test the relationship between forgiveness and resilience in students who experience social media fatigue measured by the Social Media Fatigue Scale that the author created himself based on Bright (2015) concept. A total of 279 Indonesian students spread across several cities in Sumatra and Java, Indonesia, were respondents to the study. Data collection using Forgiveness Scale (4 items, a= 0.829) and Resilience Scale (7 items, a= 0.899), which researchers created based on forgiveness theory which developed by Enright (2001) and McCullough, et al (1998) and resilience theory which developed by Reivich and Shatte (2002). The results of a simple regression test showed a significant positive relationship between forgiveness and resilience (R= .781; p less than 0.001; F=18.03) where the effective contribution of forgiveness to resilience is 33.9%. The implications of the results of the study will be discussed.

Abstract

In cases of sexual violence and murder of yuyun victims, there were 14 perpetrators and several minors so that this should be reviewed through the psychological aspects of the perpetrators in order to provide proper guidance. In this research, the researcher wanted to know what guidance is appropriate for perpetrators of sexual crimes and homicides from a developmental psychology aspect. The research conducted this time used a qualitative approach with a case study research method. Looking from a developmental psychology perspective, there are several coaching that can be given to the perpetrators. First, it takes an active role from parents in providing supervision and guidance to adolescents. The active role of parents will ensure that in their development, adolescents will have the ability to gradually become independent and remain responsible. This supervision is also to prevent the formation of unhealthy friendships with more mature individuals. In addition, training at LPKA must also facilitate youth to continue and complete their education. With good education, it is hoped that adolescents who face the law, such as in the case of Yuyun, will have a better future and not become recidivists. Finally, there is a need for sex education to adolescents.

This study uses an experimental research method with pre and posttest control group design. The treatment in this study was autogenic relaxation given for 8 times. The participants of this study were 12 shooting athletes from the East Java Training Center. Data obtained through sport anxiety scale. Independent t test was used as a data analysis technique. The results of the research show that the t value is -9.398 with p less than 0.001. This shows that autogenic relaxation training effective to reduce shooting athlete’s anxiety. The decrease of anxiety occurred partly due to the athlete's acceptance of the importance of mental training and autogenic relaxation mechanisms lead to specific responses against anxiety symptoms. Autogenic relaxation can be used as an intervention for reduce shooting athlete’s anxiety.

Abstract

Visually impaired person has obstacles in terms of limited mobility orientation causing problems in interpersonal relationships. These interpersonal problems can lead to discomfort and feelings of loneliness. This study aims to explore the experience of visually impaired men in young adulthood related to loneliness and how they cope with it. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was employed. Six visually impaired men in early adulthood were recruited as research subjects using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed using an interpretative phenomenological analysis. The results showed that all subjects reported that they experience emotional and social loneliness due to their visual impairment condition. The feelings of loneliness they experienced cannot be separated from their sense of self-worthlessness and the perceived negative social responses they faced from surrounding people. Both personal and social obstacles have reduced the quality of their social relationship which eventually impact on their feeling of loneliness. In general, the subjects have efficaciously effort to overcome their loneliness by using cognitive reevaluation, doing leisure activities as consolation and taking active actions to improve social relations.

Abstract

The field of psycholinguistics has produced many hypotheses which explain how a person speaks and understands the language spoken or written. In the area of language, instruction theories have been employed. In designing language education approaches, several professionals adopt them as their fundamental theories. It is called a method of psycholinguistics. The psycholinguistic method considers learning as an individual cognitive process that takes place within the individual and then moves to the social dimension. There are various ways, such as natural method, whole physical response methods, and suggested contemporary method, which are founded on the theory of the psycholinguist. These methods utilise psychological concepts, such as learning your first or second language (second language learning), learning a language (linguistic perception), and language (second language learning). The perception of languages refers to hearing and reading, while the creation of languages refers to speaking and writing. The four language skills are listening, reading, speaking, and writing. In particular, psycholinguistics helps to comprehend the difficulty of both intrinsic and extrinsic problems in these four skills. Psycholinguistics also contributes to explaining the language learning faults of students. In addition, psycholinguistics describes certain types of cerebral illnesses, such as graphics and aphasia, which must be treated appropriately, that influence language development. The use of the suitable approach for teaching these four linguistics teaches mainly psycholinguistic skills.

Abstract

This paper aim to assess the direct effect of total quality management (TQM) on patient safety (PAT), exploring the mediating roles of inclusive leadership (ILD) and psychological contract fulfilment (PCF), and the boundary effect of government support (GOV). The paper develops a conceptual framework along with suppositions by integrating both empirical and theoretical literature in the fields of healthcare strategic management, leadership, industrial and organisational psychology and finance. This paper proposes that TQM will be positively related to PAT, and this positive relationship will be mediated by ILD and PCF. Additionally, government support (GOV) will moderate the direct positive effect of TQM on PAT. This paper provides implications for both researchers and practitioners in the areas of strategic decision-making in healthcare for enhancing PAT by applying TQM, ILD, PCF and GOV as strategic tools. It also provides implications for upcoming researchers to empirically test this conceptual framework in different healthcare settings.

Abstract

This paper seeks to ascertain the regulations governing student internship programme in Ghana.  The sequential explanatory mixed methods approach was utilised. Two separate structured questionnaires were administered to students and senior members (lecturers and administrators) of six selected technical universities (TUs); whereas members of industry, executives of business associations and government regulatory bodies in the tertiary sector of Ghana’s education system were interviewed, using an interview guide. This paper found that no clear legal and regulatory framework govern student internship in Ghana. Specifically, there was no Industrial Training Fund Act in Ghana that promoted and encouraged the acquisition of skills in industry and commerce. Industries were not obliged to accept students for internship. Travel to and from work by interns were not covered by insurance. Students on internship were not covered by the host company’s collective bargaining agreement. There was no well-defined enforceable law requiring TUs to secure internship placement for students, although, some regulatory bodies insisted that TUs showed evidence of their ability to secure placements for their students for industrial training before awarding programme accreditation. There were no penalties levelled TUs who failed to secure internship placements. Interns were largely not covered by any special health insurance package by employers during in cases of injury, theft or death. This paper synchronises the perspectives of multiple actors on the regulations governing student internship programme, presenting useful suggestions which provides information to government, business associations, employers, and TUs for policy planning, formulation and implementation of student internship in Ghana.

Abstract

This paper aim to examine the direct effect of job commitment (JCT) on student satisfaction (SST), exploring the mediating roles of total quality management (TQM) and information communication technology adoption (ADT), and moderating roles of work-related stressors: toxic leadership (TLE) and job demands (JDD). The paper develops a conceptual framework along with postulations by combining both empirical and theoretical literature multidisciplinary fields. This paper proposes that JCT will be positively related to SST, and this positive relationship will be mediated by TQM and ADT. Additionally, work-related stressors: TLE and JDD will moderate the direct positive effect of JCT on SST.  This paper provides implications for both researchers and practitioners in the areas of strategic decision-making and stress management in educational institutions for enhancing SST by applying JCT, TQM and ADT as strategic tools, while keeping work-related stressors: TLE and JDD under control. It lays the foundation for upcoming researchers to empirically test this conceptual framework in different educational settings. By boosting employees’ JCT, educational institutions stand the chance of improving SST via TQM and ADT. Additionally, JCT can foster SST under a working environment where work-related stressors: TLE and JDD are kept low. The paper offers unique insights into how TQM and ADT connect JCT to SST, and how JCT relates to SST under work-related stressors: TLE and JDD. It also highlights the theoretical contributions of the resource-based theory of a firm, affective events theory, and activation theory.
