Abstract

There are still many students who have difficulty understanding the concept of comparing and sorting fractions. This is because learning is emphasized only on procedural knowledge and is separated from students' daily life experiences. The research objective was to determine the role of the context of school activities and produce learning trajectories to assist students in understanding the concept of comparing and ordering fractions through geogebra-assisted discovery learning. The research method uses design research with the stages of preliminary design, teaching experiment and retrospective analysis. The results showed that: (1) the use of the context of school activities through geogebra-assisted discovery learning can help students' understanding of concepts in the material of comparing and ordering fractions; and (2) the learning trajectories that are generated in studying the material of comparing and ordering fractions, namely: (a) understanding the concept of fractions as part of a whole, (b) changing fractions to other forms (mixed fractions, decimals, percents) and vice versa, (c ) found how to compare common fractions, (d) found how to compare decimals, and (e) found how to order fractions

Abstract

Drug abuse is using drugs without a doctor's instructions or prescription. Drug abuse is one of Indonesia's health and social problems, not least in the province of North Sumatra. North Sumatra Province currently has the highest number of drug abuse cases. This makes the researchers make a mathematical model of the distribution of drug users with educational factors with the SIRS epidemic model method. The first step is to modify the model, after which the equilibrium and stability points are calculated. The final step is to perform a numerical simulation on the basic reproduction number using the next-generation matrix approach. From the analysis results obtained two equilibrium points, namely the equilibrium point free of drug users and the endemic equilibrium point for drug users, but only one equilibrium point was analyzed. . Based on the numerical simulation, every population are stable near to the drug free equilibrium point at  , means the population of the drug addigt constantly decrease and on a certain condition will be non existent, and stable around to drug endemic equilbrium point at  , means the drug addict population will constantly increase so the drug epidemic occurred. From the simulation, it is found that the greater the rate of education, the more the number of vulnerable population with education will increase and the number of vulnerable population without education will decrease

Abstract

Mathematics learning should be carried out interactively, inspiring, challenging, motivating, fun, and meaningful, as well as accommodating the development of students' creativity, talents, and potential. Students can develop physically and psychologically according to their stages. This is in accordance with the concept of differentiated learning. Differentiated learning is an attempt to harmonize the learning process to meet the learning needs of each student. However, the implementation of differentiated learning, especially in Mathematics learning, is still limited. For this reason, researchers are interested in conducting a literature review related to this matter, both in terms of content, process, product, and learning environment. Writing this literature review aims to (1) describe the nature of differentiated learning, (2) the principles and characteristics of differentiated learning, and (3) analyze the opportunities for implementing differentiated learning in learning mathematics. This literature review is sourced from books and scientific articles. From the results of this analysis, it was concluded that (1) the differentiation approach can be integrated with several learning models such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), Project Based Learning (PjBL) and other models that are adapted to student learning styles; (2) differentiated learning can improve student learning outcomes; (3) differentiated learning can be used in mathematics learning because it can accommodate student learning needs that are adjusted to students' interests, learning styles, profiles and learning readiness

Abstract

The results of the study show that 80% of a person's success is supported by soft skills, so it is not wrong if these soft skills are the biggest supporting factor in determining student success in learning mathematics, in addition to having good soft skills, to support success in learning, independence study is also required. So there is a need for efforts to increase this ability through the application of learning models. In this study applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model as an alternative that is thought to be able to improve this ability. The aim of the study was to see an increase in soft skills and student learning independence, especially for students taking abstract algebra courses using the PBL model of the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pamulang University. The method in this research is quasi-experimental. The sample in this study were students taking abstract algebra courses consisting of 42 students of the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pamulang University. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, questionnaires, product assessment and test results. The indicators of soft skills seen in this study are honesty, verbal communication, participation in lectures and creativity. While indicators of learning independence are learning initiatives, diagnosing learning needs, setting learning goals, choosing and using resources, selecting and implementing learning strategies, independent learning, working with others and self-control. From the research results it is known that the soft skill ability indicators have increased starting from the first observation to the third observation, the average soft skill ability score for the honesty indicator is 3.59; verbal communication 3.70; participation 3.19 and creativity 3.17. Based on the criteria, each of these indicators is in the good category. While learning independence also increased before and after being given treatment, with an increase of 21.09; from the sig.(2-tailed) value of 0.000 which is less than the value of 0.05 so that it can be concluded that there is an influence of the PBL Model on learning independence
