Abstract

The thickening of community stigma can hinder the integration of former prisoners into the community environment. This study aims to determine the role of community supervisors in dealing with and minimizing community stigma for correctional clients, in addition to identifying what obstacles there are in dealing with community stigma for correctional clients. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method that utilizes in-depth interviews and observations. The results of the study found that the description of community stigma to correctional clients in the work area of the Cirebon Class I Correctional Centre covering five cities and regencies is indeed true, as evidenced by people who have concerns, suspicions, and misconceptions, and some words should not be from the community to clients. In addition, there is no role for government agencies or, in this case, the correctional center, related to the problem of community stigma. Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of the deradicalization program for terrorist inmates in the process of pledging allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia at Cipinang Class I Correctional Institution, as well as identifying factors that hinder the effectiveness of the program. The results indicate that the implementation of the deradicalization program includes several stages, ranging from religious guidance to skills training to psychological counseling. However, this program has not been fully effective due to various obstacles. The main inhibiting factors include the lack of skills and special training for officers, officers' low interest in becoming Guardians of Terrorist Convicts, as well as limited resources and support from internal prison parties. In addition, the involvement of third parties such as clerics and psychologists often replaces the role of prison officers, who should be more active in the deradicalization process. This study recommends increased training and motivation for prison officers to strengthen the implementation of deradicalization programs more effectively and sustainably. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Sarana Assimilasi dan Edukasi (SAE) Program in an effort to improve the skills of prisoners at Class IIB Kayu Agung Correctional Facility. Using qualitative research methods, this study explores the various obstacles faced in implementing the program, focusing on aspects of policy standards, resources, inter-organizational communication, characteristics of implementing agents, economic, social, and political conditions, and attitudes of policy implementers. The results show that there are significant obstacles such as inadequate facilities, lack of trained human resources, and ineffective communication between implementers and prisoners. In addition, unsupportive economic and social conditions as well as less motivating attitudes of implementers also affect the effectiveness of the program. This research is expected to provide insights for the improvement of policies and practices in the implementation of prisoner development programs. Abstract

The prison system in Indonesia underwent a significant change from the theory of retribution, which prioritizes retribution, to a correctional system that focuses more on the development and social reintegration of prisoners. This change was first introduced by Dr. Sahardjo in 1963, and officially adopted in 1964 under the direction of Dr. Baharoedin Soerdjobroto. This reform was based on respect for human rights and the need for a more just and humane system. In its development, Law Number 12 of 1995 concerning Corrections was amended to Law Number 22 of 2022, which strengthened the concept of restorative justice and social reintegration, and established various Technical Implementation Units (UPT) that carry out correctional functions. Class IIB Trenggalek Detention Center, as one of the UPTs, carries out two main functions, namely prisoner care and prisoner development. Various coaching programs, such as Pondok Taubat and The Garden of Curna, are designed to improve the mental health and well-being of inmates, who often face stress and mental disorders due to over-capacity in the detention center. The Garden of Curna program aims to provide a platform for inmates to express their grievances, while strengthening interpersonal communication based on Joseph A. Devito's communication theory. This research uses a qualitative approach with interview, observation, and documentation study methods to explore the effectiveness of The Garden of Curna program in supporting the success of interpersonal communication between officers and prisoners. Abstract

This article discusses the effectiveness of the implementation of the orientation admission program at Cipinang Class I Detention Center with the appointment of officers based on the Decree of the Head of the Detention Center. This program is designed to help new detainees adapt to the detention environment and understand their rights, obligations, and applicable rules. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results showed that although the program has run according to standards, there are several obstacles, such as the large number of new detainees, limited facilities, and program implementation outside working hours. The assignment of officers through the Head of the Detention Center Decree has clarified the duties and responsibilities, but it is necessary to increase the number of officers and facilities to support the effectiveness of the program. Abstract

Basically, drugs have three characteristics which can then influence users in terms of consuming drugs where a person will be reminded and will be more influenced by the tendency to consume drugs further, namely related to tolerance where the more a person becomes one with the presence of drugs where in the end the dose of users are so high that they will be influenced by tendencies. The aim of this research is to determine the implementation of social guidance for drug addict client groups using behavioral theory at the Pekalongan Class II Correctional Center. In this research, the research design used is a case study. A case study is a research design in which many areas related to evaluation are found in the research, where the research develops a more in-depth analysis related to cases of program events, process activities. The results and discussion of this research are based on behavioristic theory and group social guidance, namely the Implementation of Group Social Guidance for Drug Addict Clients Using Behavioral Theory at the Class II Pekalongan Correctional Center, a program that has been implemented to fulfill clients' rights to receive guidance after serving a criminal term. Social Guidance for Groups of Drug Addict Clients Using Behavioral Theory is a form of guidance in the Class II Pekalongan Bapas where the result of this guidance is that it can reduce addiction and recidivism rates in the Pekalongan Class II Bapas itself. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of security standards in the residential blocks of the Ambarawa Class IIA Correctional Facility, particularly from the perspective of static security systems. Static security systems include physical facilities and infrastructure used to ensure security within the residential block environment, such as boundary walls, doors, bars, and surveillance systems. This research employs a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and document studies to collect data. The results indicate that the implementation of security standards at the Ambarawa Class IIA Correctional Facility has been in accordance with existing regulations. However, some areas still require improvement, particularly in terms of infrastructure maintenance and the modernization of surveillance technology. The study recommends providing training for officers to optimize their surveillance duties and accelerate the planned relocation process. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a counseling program in improving the self-control of prisoners with psychological disorders at Brebes Class IIB Correctional Institution. Prisoners often experience psychological disorders due to social isolation, overcapacity, and the pressures of life in prison, which have a negative impact on their self-control. The counseling program implemented aims to help prisoners develop self-control through a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach and mental health screening using the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-29). The results indicated that counseling significantly improved the psychological condition of prisoners, with positive behavioral changes, increased self-discipline, emotional management, and healthy habits. The success of this program is measured through five main aspects: behavior change, mental health, problem-solving, self-discipline, and healthy habits. For optimal effectiveness, increasing the frequency of counseling, training prison officers, and providing better counseling facilities are recommended. Abstract

This study analyzes the socio-demographic factors that influence the increase in recidivism at Pematang Siantar Class IIA Correctional Facility. Data shows an increase in the number of recidivist prisoners each year, with factors such as age, gender, education, and social environment playing an important role in the tendency of former prisoners to re-offend. This study uses qualitative methods through interviews and observations to identify the relationship between these socio-demographic factors. The results show that prisoners who are younger, male, lower education, and less supportive social environment are more vulnerable to becoming recidivists. This study recommends a rehabilitation program that focuses more on skill building, psychosocial support, and family and community involvement in supporting the reintegration of ex-prisoners.
