Abstract

Limited space for movement and negative stigma as lawbreakers cause foster children to feel pessimistic and hopeless, thus reducing children's motivation to plan for their future. Various efforts are needed to build children to be optimistic about having a good future orientation. This study aims to provide an analysis of the relationship between self-efficacy and social support to the future orientation of fostered children while proving whether social support can be a mediator between self-efficacy and future orientation. This study uses quantitative research methods with non-probability sampling techniques on as many as 109 foster children. The data collection technique was carried out using a questionnaire. The measuring instruments used include General Self-Efficacy (GSE), Social Support Scale (SSS), and Future Orientation Scale (FOS). There are 77 statements that are used as indicators in this study. Data analysis techniques carried out through normality tests, multiple linear regression tests, correlation tests, Sobel tests, and determination tests were processed using JASP software version 0.14.1.0. The results showed a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and future orientation with a coefficient of determination (R² = 0.318) as well as social support and future orientation with an R² of 0.473, and the Sobel test showed that social support significantly mediated the relationship between self-efficacy and future orientation. In conclusion, self-efficacy and social support contribute positively to the future orientation of foster children, and social support can act as a mediator to strengthen the influence of self-efficacy on future orientation. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the quality of healthcare services provided in Pematangsiantar Class IIA Penitentiary and to identify potential optimization efforts. Employing a qualitative approach, this research involved observations, interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that, overall, the healthcare services in the penitentiary have met minimum standards. The dimensions of reliability and responsiveness were assessed as fairly good, reflected in the availability of healthcare personnel and the speed of response to inmate needs. However, several aspects require improvement, particularly related to the dimensions of tangibles (facilities and equipment), assurance (quality assurance), and empathy (care). Limitations in facilities and infrastructure, as well as the need to enhance staff capacity in providing more personalized services, are the main challenges. This study suggests the need for increased investment in healthcare facilities, ongoing training for staff, and active involvement of inmates in the evaluation and improvement of services. Abstract

This article explores the implementation of character education models in Pembinaan Institutions Special for Children (LPKA) as an essential approach in rehabilitating children in conflict with the law. In the face of complex social and emotional challenges, children in LPKA often experience behavioral and emotional issues that require special attention. Character education serves as both a tool to transform negative behaviors into positive ones and a means to build a strong and healthy personality foundation. The model emphasizes the inculcation of universal values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, empathy, and cooperation, tailored to the unique needs of these children within the Indonesian cultural context. A supportive learning environment and varied instructional methods, such as experiential learning and project-based activities, are highlighted as key elements in engaging children and fostering their understanding of moral values. The article also discusses the importance of ongoing evaluation and staff training to ensure the program's success. Additionally, the article identifies both supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of character education in LPKA, including the need for positive environments, family participation, and sufficient resources, while addressing challenges such as social stigma, emotional instability, and administrative issues. Ultimately, the character education model aims to rehabilitate children, equipping them with moral integrity and resilience as they reintegrate into society after their time in LPKA. Abstract

Adopting technology in digital security systems requires adequate skills and knowledge for security management to achieve its objectives, which are to create conducive conditions, maintain officer order, and ensure prison safety. This research aims to ensure that organizations can identify, measure, and monitor the various risks that may arise from the application. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach by conducting in-depth interviews with correctional officers at the Class IIA Madiun Youth Correctional Institution who serve as structural and executive officials. From the risk identification, the results obtained from the four risk points that have been described can be an important concern for the organization in operating the application. From those with a high-risk value to those with the lowest risk value, all must get risk treatment because risks can interfere with the organization's running if the organization is not handled properly. Abstract

The implementation of the social rehabilitation program using the Therapeutic Community (TC) method at the Narcotics Prison of Purwokerto has shown significant progress. The program consists of planning, execution, and evaluation stages. Initially, residents undergo a screening process, followed by orientation and the primary phase, where they engage in structured activities aimed at behavioral change. The re-entry phase, although hindered by the mixing of residents with other inmates, provides opportunities for adaptation through vocational training and family counseling. While the aftercare stage is not conducted within the prison, strategies are developed to prepare former residents for independent living. Challenges such as limited human resources and inadequate facilities are identified and evaluated for improvement. Recommendations include enhancing collaboration with relevant agencies and providing specialized training for staff to optimize the rehabilitation program's effectiveness. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the communication strategy of correctional guardians in shaping the self-concept of child prisoners and to find out the factors that cause negative self-concept in child prisoners while undergoing coaching at the Tangerang Class I Child Special Development Institution. This research uses qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. This study concludes that the correctional guardian, in developing a communication strategy, uses the stages of knowing the audience, compiling messages, determining methods, and using media. However, in its implementation, improvement efforts are needed so that the formation of a positive self-concept in child prisoners becomes more optimal. The factors that form the negative self-concept of child prisoners while undergoing coaching are social stigma, lack of closeness with parents, lack of access to psychological support, and not forming warm and personal communication and connections with correctional guardians. It is recommended that the Special Development Institute for Children Class I, Tangerang, in this case, can carry out special training for correctional guardians in communicating effectively with child prisoners. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the collaboration of health services in preventing tuberculosis (TB) in Class IIA Abepura Prison. Qualitative methods are used to identify and evaluate health service practices based on the Levey Loomba framework, which includes promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. The results of the study indicate that effective communication, respect, appropriate decision-making, and constructive feedback play an important role in the success of health service collaboration. However, there are obstacles in terms of health awareness of inmates and hygiene conditions that affect the effectiveness of TB prevention. Recommendations include increasing health socialization and improving sanitation conditions in prisons. This study is expected to provide insight into improving health services for inmates in correctional institutions. Keywords: Collaboration; Health Services; Tuberculosis
