Abstract

This study examines the Ruwah Desa tradition in Dusun Plosokuning, Mojokerto, within the framework of moderate Islamic educational values. This tradition represents a form of cultural and religious acculturation passed down through generations, embodying the values of togetherness, tolerance, and respect for ancestors. Employing a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, this study explores the implementation, meaning, and adaptation of Ruwah Desa in the daily lives of the local community. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with community leaders, and documentation of various processions within the tradition. The findings indicate that the Ruwah Desa tradition serves as a medium for strengthening social solidarity, maintaining harmony between culture and Islamic teachings, and educating the younger generation on moderate Islamic values. This tradition encompasses four fundamental principles of moderate Islam: i‘tidal (justice), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and tawassuth (moderation), which are reflected in the practices of mutual cooperation, communal prayers, and the slametan or kenduren ritual. The study confirms that local traditions such as Ruwah Desa play a vital role in fostering religious moderation and reinforcing community cohesion. Beyond enriching the discourse on cultural and religious interactions, this study offers practical insights into the preservation of local traditions in the modern era. Thus, Ruwah Desa is not merely an annual ritual but also a manifestation of an inclusive and adaptive interpretation of Islam in response to contemporary societal developments.

Abstract

The lack of students’ interest in reading Arabic texts is often caused by the use of conventional teaching models, such as the lecture method, which tends to be monotonous and hampers comprehension. In addition, some students still struggle with reading Arabic texts, preventing them from achieving the learning objectives effectively. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Think, Pair, and Share learning model in improving students' Arabic reading skills. This research employs a quantitative method with an experimental approach using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of 38 fifth- grade students, divided into an experimental group (19 students) and a control group (19 students). Data collection techniques included tests, interviews, and observations, while data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk test, homogeneity test, independent sample T-test, and N-Gain test. The results indicate that the Think, Pair, and Share model, assisted by PowerPoint, is effective in enhancing Arabic reading skills. The post-test average score of the experimental group reached 80, higher than the control group, which scored 74.73. The independent sample T-test results showed a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.004 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Additionally, the N- Gain test result of 0.4 demonstrates that the effectiveness of the learning model falls within the moderate category. Thus, the Think, Pair, and Share model is proven to have a positive impact on improving students' Arabic reading skills.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the innovations in the implementation of strategic planning to achieve the vision and mission of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta. The research employs a qualitative approach focused on gaining a deep understanding of the research problem. Through observations and interviews, the researcher identified the outputs of each stage in the form of documents, policies, or decisions related to steps taken to realize the institution’s vision and mission. Furthermore, the researcher conducted an analysis of these documents and activities to examine the interrelations among the processes, resulting in an integrated and comprehensive design.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the concept of religious deviance from the Qur’anic perspective and analyze its relevance to Charles Kimball’s ideas on the dangers of religion. The main focus of this study is to explore how the Qur’an views the phenomenon of religious deviation that arises in religious practices, and to what extent this concept aligns or contrasts with Kimball’s five indicators of religious danger, namely absolute truth claims, blind obedience, the pursuit of an ideal age, justification of any means, and calls for holy war. This research employs a qualitative approach using thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhu‘i), content analysis, and a comparative analysis of Kimball’s thought. The primary sources of the study include the Qur’an, both classical and contemporary tafsir particularly Tafsir al-Munir by Wahbah al-Zuhaili and Kimball’s work When Religion Becomes Evil. The findings reveal that the Qur’an firmly condemns all forms of religious deviation characterized by the misuse of religious authority, excessive fanaticism, intolerance, and the manipulation of sacred teachings for worldly or political purposes. The Qur’an emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between faith, reason, and morality as the foundation of true religiosity, warning that distortion in these three aspects may lead to polytheism, hypocrisy, and disbelief. Kimball’s ideas share common ground with the Qur’anic perspective in criticizing fanaticism and violence in the name of religion; however, the Qur’an provides a more comprehensive normative foundation through the principles of tawhid (divine unity) and rahmatan lil ‘alamin (mercy to all creation). Therefore, this study concludes that preventing religious deviance can only be achieved through a holistic understanding of the Qur’an that harmonizes theological, ethical, and social dimensions in religious life.

Abstract

The Quran does not conceptually define what a state is and what its form should be, but there are several terms in the Quran that can explain the components of a state. There are several terms often associated with the state, such as the word البلد (al-balad) with its various forms of tashrîf (word patterns) from singular to plural forms like البلاد (al-bilâd), or to feminine forms like بلدة (baldah). The Quran also uses the term madînah to refer to a state. Additionally, the Quran uses the term القرية (al-Qaryah) in its singular form and القرى (al-Qurâ) in its plural form. Similarly, the Quran uses the term الدار (al-Dâr) in its singular form and الديار (al-Diyâr) in its plural form. All these terms refer to the concept of a state. A state is an institution that plays a crucial role in human life, responsible for maintaining security, upholding justice, providing legal certainty, and protecting human rights, as well as teaching respect for authority.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the process of cultural assimilation between Islamic values and the Tedhak Siten tradition in Menganto, Mojowarno, Central Java. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach, involving key figures in the tradition, including religious leaders and community figures selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and then analyzed using Robert E. Park's cultural communication theory. The results show that cultural assimilation occurs gradually through symbolic changes and spiritual meaning, such as replacing traditional mantras with Islamic prayers and reinterpreting main symbols, while maintaining local cultural identity. The entire process involves active participation across generations, with religious leaders playing a significant role in building legitimacy and acceptance of new ritual meanings. In conclusion, the Tedhak Siten tradition in Menganto serves as a model of harmonious cultural-religious integration, strengthening social cohesion, and ensuring the preservation of local traditions amidst modernization dynamics. This finding contributes to the development of multicultural communication studies, religious-cultural integration, and strategies for preserving traditions based on intergenerational dialogue.

Abstract

Implikasi Hubungan Kyai dan Tarekat pada Pendidikan Pesantren. Pesantren merupakan lembaga pendidikan Islam tertua di Indonesia. Ia disinyalir sebagai lembaga khas Indonesia dan tidak ditemui di tempat lainnya. Di antara kekuatan pesantren adalah terletak pada kharisma kyai yang menunjukkan sosok yang sangat dikagumi dan senantiasa menjadi tauladan bagi muridmuridnya. Kekuatan kyai di antaranya terletak pada keterlibatannya dalam dunia tarekat-tarekat yang berkembang di Indoensia. Tetapi belakangan ada pergeseran banyak kyai yang tidak lagi berafiliasi pada tarekat, sehingga dia tidak mempunyai kelebihan tertentu (karamah) sebagaimana yang dimiliki para kyai terdahulu. Untuk itu, seiring dengan tidak adanya karomah tersebut, maka pengajaran yang dilakukan pesantren semestinya mengadopsi metode-metode modern.

Abstract

Konsep Pembaharuan Sistem Pendidikan Islam Menurut Muhammad ‘Abduh. Muhammad Abduh selain terkenal dalam bidang penafsiran al-Qur’an dan pembaharu pewmikiran Islam, ternyata juga dikenal pemikirannya dalam bidang pendidikan. Pembaruan pendidikan di Mesir yang pelopori oleh Muhammad Ali sangat besar kontribusinya untuk menjadi negara modern. Gerakan pembaruannya telah memperkenalkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi Barat kepada umat Islam, dan sampai suatu waktu dapat menyingkap awan hitam yang menyelimuti pola pikir dan sikap keagamaan sehingga lahirlah intelegensi muslim yang berpengetahuan agama yang luas. Corak pemikiran pendidikan Muhammad Abduh cenderung pada aliran progresif. Pembaharuan Pendidikan itulah yang dilanjutkan oleh Muhammad Abduh, terutama dengan memperbaharui unsur-unsur pendidikan yaitu, tujuan pendidikan, pendidik, murid, dan metode pembelajaran

Abstract

Pendidikan adalah salah satu faktor terpenting dalam usaha pembangunan yang dilakukan oleh sebuah negara. Pendidikan merupakan upaya pengembangan potensi manusiawi dari para peserta didik, baik berupa fisik, cipta maupun karsa agar potensi tersebut menjadi nyata dan dapat berfungsi bagi perjalan kehidupan. Sejarah mencatat bahwa Negara yang memiliki perhatian yang tinggi pada dunia pendidikan, maka negara tersebut akan mengalami kemajuan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan negara lain yang menomorduakan masalah pendidikan. Namun, perhatian yang besar dari negara saja tidaklah cukup, karena praktisi dan akademisi harus berupaya keras untuk melakukan inovasi tiada henti dalam mengelola dan mengembangkan pendidikan, inovasi pendidikan tersebut haruslah didasarkan pada tujuan pendidikan guna meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, yang pada akhirnya akan mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa dan membentuk insan yang kompetitif dan bermartabat

Abstract

Metode Pengajaran Menurut Abu Hanifah dalam al-Alim wa al-mutaallim. Metode pengajaran adalah salah satu elemen penting dalam proses pendidikan. Hal ini karena, ia sangat berkaitan dengan proses merealisasikan pendidikan yang berkualitas. Sebagai tokoh dakwah, Abu Hanifah dikenal sebagai seorang pakar fiqih, hadith dan ilmu kalam, namun sedikit dari cendekiawan yang menguak kepakaran beliau dalam bidang pendidikan. Justru itu, makalah ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan aspek pendidikan, khususnya mengenai metode pengajaran Abu Hanifah yang didasarkan pada kitab al-’Alim wa al-Muta‘allim. Karya tersebut adalah hasil dari sebuah catatan dialog Abu Hanifah dengan salah seorang muridnya. Makalah ini mengetengahkan uraian mengenai metode pengajaran menurut Abu Hanifah yang diaplikasikan dalam karya tersebut.
