Abstract

It is quite common knowledge that some traditional herbal medicine sellers used plastic bottles of mineral water as a storage medium for their traditional herbal medicine. Even though the allotment of mineral water bottles is dispossible, it cannot be used again after the contents run out. This problem about the packaging must be addressed. When viewed from the visual aspect, the presentation of traditional herbal medicine still tends to be monotonous in terms of packaging. Whereas packaging can influence consumers to give a positive response, good packaging will optimize profits. Therefore, this service activity targets several improvements in handling packaging problems for Jamu bu Uri products, with the aim of increasing the marketing of traditional herbal products.

Abstract

Aplication that are useful have a long lifespan, not just a year or two. To remain useful, applications must evolve/change, be it to facilitate changes to processes, policies or other requirements. These changes can be minor or major. One of the things that often changed is the user interface and user experience of the application, which greatly influences customer satisfaction. There are many methods to measure ux, one of them is UEQ. This study aims to measure the UX of SIMARIS users, so that this application has a long lifespan. SIMARIS is one of the applications at UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur which is used to manage the implementation of internally funded research and social engagement activities. There are many modules in SIMARIS, one of them is the reviewer module which is used by reviewers to assess proposals, monev reports, and also final results of researchers. This research was conducted by distributing UEQ questionnaires to 10 reviewers. Based on the comparison with the benchmark scale, the results of the questionnaire related with attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, and novelty, the results are above average, while the results of accuracy and stimulation are good. These results indicate that SIMARIS is good, but efforts still need to be made to improve the attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, accuracy, stimulation and novelty by providing functions or features that help to get the job done faster and are fun to use.

Abstract

The enactment of The Job Creation Law (JCL) affects various national regulations in Indonesia, one of which is forestry regulation. The Social Forestry Program, which was previously governed under a Ministerial Regulation, is now incorporated in the JCL. The JCL amends Indonesian National Forestry Law in its Articles 29 (a) and (b). The integration of the Social Forestry Program is asserted to have provided legal certainty and improvement towards the economy of the Forest Village Community, acknowledging their direct participation in managing the forest. Meanwhile, the alignment of the Social Forestry Program and the materialization of sustainable forest development is diminished. Thus, this paper aims to analyze which law models fit to strengthen the Social Forestry Program and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) enforcement. This paper is an empirical research juridical research that is participatory. It includes discussions and interviews conducted with several related parties. In the collection of the legal materials, the authors use the method of inventory and documentation which are complemented by interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). This study uses the statutory, conceptual as well as case approaches. This research finds that the ease of conducting investment encouraged by the JCL conflicted of various Indonesian environmental protection goals. For instance, the risk-based approach used in the environmental permit generates another loophole for both the SFM and the Sustainable Development Management (SDM) goals at any level. The discussion in this research is restricted by the national concept of the Social Forestry Program, which is merely regulated at the ministerial level, thus affecting the development of this study. Moreover, the authors pursue discussions with the affected community and relevant regional boards to redress the limited and less-updated supporting data available.

Abstract

Along with the development of technology and all the conveniences offered, individual abilities, especially administrative capabilities, must be improved to increase competitiveness. Competitiveness here is competitiveness in the world of work that demands the ability to master administrative capabilities. Panti Asuhan Muhammadiyah Surabaya owns the problem. Lack of funds, facilities, and caregivers or volunteers who can help provide skills training. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs RI 2004, one of the functions of the Orphanage is as a center for skills development (which is a supporting function). Therefore, this educational activity is intended to provide insight for orphanage children in improving administrative capabilities. The purpose of this service program is to provide them with skills they will use in managerial activities in the world of work. This activity was attended by 16 participants offline. This activity aims to make foster children have skills in operating a number processing application (Microsoft Excel). This activity does not only focus on providing material but also on hands-on practice. From the results of the assessment, it was found that 14 children entered Microsoft Excel 2016 Intermediate Skills and 2 children entered Beginner Skills. This training is expected to improve the ability of foster children in administrative capabilities using Ms. Excel and can apply the knowledge they have gained in the world of work.

Abstract

The preparation of an engineered mini granulator is used as a way to encapsulate horticultural plant seeds for farmers in Gandusari village, Blitar, for the need for healthy seeds, especially during the rainy season. This experiment aims to determine the performance of the self-designed encapsulation device, using a DC motor drive. The construction of the mini granulator consists of a frame to support a stainless steel drum as a container for seeds and adhesives, measuring 50 cm in diameter and 40 cm in height, which is supported by a motor axis with a length of 5 cm with a distance of 15 cm from the iron frame. The drum is placed perpendicular to the motor axis vertically and is supported by an iron frame that is hinged at the edges so that the drum can be tilted while rotating. The tilt of the drum when rotating has an angle of 30 degrees, so that the seeds that have been mixed with adhesives and organic materials can form granules with the help of a sprayer filled with water to wet the mixed ingredients. The mini granulator test was carried out with carrier materials as a medium for microbial viability. The microbes used were from the fungal group in the form of Trichoderma isolates and from the bacterial group in the form of Streptomyces isolates. The manufacture of encapsulated seeds is done by placing the seeds and the adhesive mixture into the drum. The granulation method used is the wet granulation method. A total of 1 g of vegetable seeds were put into the encapsulation drum, then sprayed with adhesive solution 5 times (± 2 ml), then 1 g of dry material in the form of biochar was added. The speed of the granulator obtained was about 200 rpm, after 1 minute, the rotation was stopped, then the coated seeds were filtered in a 200 mesh (75 µm) sieve. Seed coating sessions were carried out 6 times, but in the 2nd session, the dry matter included was CaCO3. The seeds were then air-dried for 30 minutes, then put and stored in an aluminum foil pouch.

Abstract

At the university level, the publication of scientific articles is a barometer of the quality of education so students are also required to produce scientific articles that can add to the repertoire of scientific publications. Unfortunately, the increase in capacity and competence in writing scientific articles is mostly intended for lecturers, while for students it is not optimal. Therefore, Indonesian language courses are the first key for students to learn to write scientific articles and learn to publish them in proceedings, book chapters, or journals. One of the learning methods that can be used to improve learning outcomes in writing scientific articles is the project-based learning “Literacy Room”. In particular, this research was conducted using Thiagarajan's 4-P development research method (Definition, Design, Development, and Deployment). The data in this study are student learning outcomes after learning activities using the Literacy Room project-based learning method. Meanwhile, the source of this research data comes from the learning activities of students participating in the general basic Indonesian language course in ten classes, namely class G501, class G511, class G526, class G538, class G521, class G533, class G543, class G546, class G509, and class G552 with a total of 338 students. Data was collected by various data collection methods. First, the data were collected using a questionnaire method with a Likert scale measurement. The resulting data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis through correlation analysis. Based on the research results, the “Literacy Room” project that has been carried out has an impact on improving student's writing skills in quality and quantity.
