Abstract

Background: The use of smartphones among preschool children has increased along with the development of digital technology. Children aged 4–6 years are in a golden period of development, which includes gross motor skills, fine motor skills, speech and language, socialization, and independence. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the intensity of smartphone use and the development of children aged 4–6 years at TK Negeri Pembina 2 Kota Jambi. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was total sampling, with 88 children who met the inclusion criteria as respondents. Data on the intensity of smartphone use were obtained through a questionnaire completed by parents, while child development was assessed using the Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire (KPSP). Results: Most children had a moderate level of smartphone use intensity (40.9%), and child development was predominantly in the appropriate category (53.4%). The Spearman Rank correlation test showed a correlation coefficient of r = −0.794 with a significance value of p < 0.001, indicating that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. These results demonstrate a strong relationship between the intensity of smartphone use and child development. Conclusion: Higher intensity of smartphone use may lead to a decrease in child development. Therefore, it is expected that schools can collaborate with parents to provide education regarding the wise use of smartphones for preschool children.

Abstract

The changes and pressures of daily life often leave people feeling bored and stressed, making it difficult to maintain a healthy mindset. Various illnesses arise from human negligence, such as not maintaining a healthy lifestyle, or are caused by viral, bacterial, and other factors that disrupt physical health. However, beyond these factors, there are also non-medical causes of bodily "illness," namely disorders arising from mental and emotional conditions, as well as the accumulation of subconscious thoughts known as psychosomatics. One method that can be used to help recover from these conditions is hypnotherapy, the application of hypnosis techniques for therapeutic purposes. This study aims to analyze communication patterns in the hypnosis process, which play a role in fostering self-awareness and improving the client's mental health. The research approach used qualitative methods through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews. Data were analyzed to identify effective hypnotic communication patterns that enable suggestions to be accepted by the client's subconscious mind. The results provide insight into hypnosis techniques used in therapy and communication strategies that therapists can use effectively. The client's determination to recover, maintaining a positive mindset, and maintaining mental health are crucial factors in achieving their life goals. Selecting appropriate communication techniques and strategies helps therapists determine the appropriate approach to addressing client issues. This research emphasizes the importance of therapists' sensitivity in recognizing clients' capacities and resources so that communication can improve their self-awareness and mental health.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how the communication style of the Product Development Division Manager influences the communication climate of production employees at PT Hanes Supply Chain Indonesia. In the context of the manufacturing industry, which is characterized by high performance targets, hierarchical structures, and intensive cross-functional coordination, leadership communication plays a crucial role in shaping the work environment and supervisor–subordinate relationships. This research adopts a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the manager and production employees in the Product Development Division to capture their experiences, perceptions, and interpretations of everyday communication practices. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of managerial communication style and their implications for the communication climate. The findings reveal that an open, supportive, and responsive communication style contributes to a more positive communication climate, characterized by higher levels of trust, openness, and psychological safety among employees. In contrast, rigid and less empathetic communication tends to create distance and inhibit open interaction. These results highlight the strategic role of leadership communication in fostering a healthy and productive communication climate within manufacturing organizations.

Abstract

Fishermen are a group of informal sector workers who face high occupational risks, particularly the risk of work accidents and death at sea. The Indonesian government, through the Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), has implemented Death Insurance (JKM) and Work Accident Insurance (JKK) policies for fishermen as part of social protection. However, the effectiveness of these policies' implementation at the local level remains problematic. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's JKM and JKK policies for fishermen in Cilamaya District, Karawang Regency. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. Research informants included fishermen participating and non-participating in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, village officials, and representatives of related agencies. The results show that the implementation of the JKM and JKK policies has not been fully effective, characterized by low levels of participation, limited socialization, and fishermen's lack of understanding of the program's benefits. Supporting factors for implementation include local government commitment and ease of registration procedures, while inhibiting factors include the characteristics of fishermen's work, low social security literacy, and dependence on government assistance. This study recommends strengthening policy communication strategies and synergy among stakeholders to increase the effectiveness of social protection for fishermen.

Abstract

This article analyzes the Merdeka Curriculum and the idea of Merdeka Belajar (Independent Learning) as a contestation of the meaning of “independence” in education. The study distinguishes procedural independence in terms of flexibility of methods, differentiation, and simplification of content from substantive independence in critical pedagogy, namely liberation from oppressive power relations. The research uses literature study and conceptual-critical analysis of policy documents and the literature of Tan Malaka and Paulo Freire. The findings show that the novelty of the Merdeka Curriculum appears strong at the methodological level, but it is still vulnerable to maintaining the coloniality of education at the structural level. This vulnerability is seen in three axes: knowledge power that remains rooted in official knowledge, evaluation that maintains the function of selection and reproduces achievement hierarchies, and goal orientation that easily shifts to become instrumental and compatible with human capital logic. Paradoxically, students appear autonomous in their learning methods but remain locked into comparative measures of success. These findings confirm that curriculum reform needs to touch on epistemic structures and assessments in order for education to move towards emancipation. The Tan Malaka-Freire synthesis framework is offered to evaluate policies and formulate the conditions for substantive independence in learning practices in schools and campuses

Abstract

The digital era has given rise to new intangible assets, including social media accounts such as TikTok, which now hold significant economic value through monetization, endorsements, and commercial partnerships. This phenomenon triggers a legal urgency regarding the legal status of TikTok accounts as objects of property rights and their potential as loan collateral. Utilizing a normative legal research method with various approaches—statutory, conceptual, and comparative—this study examines the position of TikTok accounts under the Indonesian Civil Code (KUH Perdata) and the mechanisms for their execution as collateral. The findings indicate that, conceptually, a TikTok account is classified as an intangible movable asset that can be legally transferred through access control. Despite its potential as collateral, the lack of explicit regulation necessitates legal updates and a reform of property law in Indonesia to accommodate these digital assets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of the TOEIC Prediction Test as a tool to measure the English language proficiency of vocational high school (SMK) students, specifically tenth-grade students of SMKN 21 Jakarta. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach with 177 students from four majors: Accounting and Institutional Finance (AKL), Retail Business (BR), Office Management and Business Services (MPLB), and Software and Game Development (PPLG). Data were obtained from the TOEIC Prediction Test results on October 17, 2025, covering Listening, Reading, and total scores. The results showed that the average TOEIC Prediction score for students fell within the basic to intermediate range, with the PPLG major achieving the highest average score compared to other majors. These findings suggest that the TOEIC Prediction Test can be used as a tool for initial mapping of vocational high school students' English language proficiency. The results are expected to serve as a basis for planning more contextual English language learning that aligns with the needs of the workplace.

Abstract

This quantitative study aims to compare pre-examination anxiety levels among 46 university students from various higher education institutions based on five learning style categories (Visual, Auditory, Writing, Kinesthetic, and Social). Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using a One-Way ANOVA. The assumption tests indicated that the data were normally distributed (Shapiro–Wilk, p = 0.092) and that variances across groups were homogeneous (Levene’s Test, p = 0.791), thereby meeting the requirements for parametric analysis. The main analysis revealed no significant differences in anxiety levels among students with the five learning styles (F(4,41) = 1.954; p = 0.120 > 0.05). Further analysis using the Tukey HSD post hoc test also confirmed the absence of significant differences across all group pairs. These findings indicate that dominant learning styles do not significantly influence students’ academic anxiety responses prior to examinations. The results suggest that educators should continue to implement varied instructional strategies and foster supportive learning environments to help all students effectively manage emotional pressure during examination periods.

Abstract

The financial industry in Indonesia continues to grow through the provision of increasingly competitive investment services, opening up opportunities for companies to attract investors. This study aims to analyze the effect of leverage and liquidity on stock returns, as well as to assess whether company size strengthens this relationship. The research was conducted on non- bank financial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2020–2023. A quantitative approach was used with secondary data taken from annual financial reports. The sample was determined purposively according to specific criteria, resulting in 40 observations. Data processing was performed using Eviews-13 software. Data analysis included descriptive tests, panel data regression, and moderation interaction tests (MRA). Independent variables included leverage (Debt to Equity Ratio) and liquidity (Current Ratio), with stock returns (price return) as the dependent variable, and company size (ln total assets) as the moderating variable. The results show that, both before and after MRA, leverage does not have a significant effect on stock returns (probability 0.86 & 0.56 > 0.05), and liquidity does not have a significant effect on stock returns (probability 0.12 & 0.90 > 0.05). Simultaneously, both before and after the MRA, leverage and liquidity do not have a significant effect on stock returns (probability 0.26 & 0.44 > 0.05). Furthermore, firm size does not function as a moderator in this research model, in the interaction between leverage and stock returns (probability 0.82 > 0.05), and in the interaction between liquidity and stock returns (probability 0.60 > 0.05). The coefficient of determination before MRA was 1.8% with an epsilon of 98.2%, and the coefficient of determination after MRA was 0%, indicating that the addition of moderation worsened the previous model.

Abstract

Mental health issues in Indonesia are increasing, but treatment is often constrained by local culture values. This study aims to determine why traditional coping mechanisms are chosen by the people of Sumbawa as a means of dealing with mental disorders in Sumbawa, using a qualitative Research design and a phenomenological approach. This study involved three participants form Sumbawa Regency who had knowledge and experience related to traditional medicine, using purposive sampling. Data analysis using phenomenological descriptive method. The results of study identified three main themes, namely the understanding of the sumbawa community sumbawa community regarding mental disorder, which are interpreted as a problem of disharmony between an individual identity and their soul (Sala singin), challenges in handling this issue including limited understanding of mental health, social stigma, and constraints related to the lack of professional service, and the community strong preference for the Sandro figure as a culturally based coping strategy. Sandro is seen as having spiritual authory that is in line with the traditional belief in Sumbawa. This coping practice is realized throught traditional remedies integrated with the support of local communities. These findings indicate that cultural values form the basis of traditional culture-based treatments that shape an integral adaptation system of local belief.
