Abstract

This community service program was conducted to address the limited availability of electrical energy on small-scale fishing boats in coastal areas, which often restricts night fishing activities and reduces catch productivity. The program was implemented at the Fish Landing Site (TPI) in Dusun Pesisir, Sumber Anyar Village, Paiton District, Probolinggo Regency, involving local fishermen as the main partners. The objective of this program was to improve energy efficiency and fishing productivity through the implementation of a hybrid solar power system on small fishing vessels. The implementation method consisted of energy needs assessment, system design, equipment installation, technical training for fishermen, and field mentoring followed by performance evaluation. The installed system includes a 550 Wp solar panel, a 12V 100Ah battery, a 1 kW hybrid inverter, and a 2.2 kW portable generator as a backup power source. The results indicate a significant increase in fishing productivity, where the average catch improved from approximately 18 kg to around 33 kg per trip, representing an increase of about 83%. Fishermen’s net income also increased from approximately IDR 525,000 to IDR 1,105,000 per day, or about a 110% improvement. In addition, auxiliary energy consumption became more efficient, with energy cost savings reaching approximately 90% due to reduced dependence on manual battery charging. Overall, the implementation of the hybrid solar power system on small-scale fishing vessels proved effective in improving energy efficiency, fishing productivity, and energy independence for coastal fishing communities.

Abstract

Devan Bamboo, an MSME owned by an entrepreneur with a disability, faced a productivity–revenue paradox: a 170% increase in productivity was followed by a 26% decline in revenue. This occurred due to a mismatch between production output and market demand, limited access to wider markets, and the inability to produce high-value customized products using manual methods, alongside weak digital marketing. This community engagement program implemented an integrated empowerment model using Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD). RRA was used to identify operational bottlenecks, while ABCD guided solution design by leveraging the partner’s existing creative strengths. The intervention included disability-adapted production technologies (bamboo cutting, splitting, and laser cutter machines adjusted for wheelchair use) and intensive digital marketing training (e-commerce, CorelDRAW, and Instagram strategy). The results showed significant improvements. Production efficiency increased, with over 50% of products adopting laser-cut designs. Digital performance rose sharply (Instagram reach +244%). Importantly, revenue trends recovered, with omzet increasing in Quarter III after previous decline. This study concludes that integrating adaptive technology and digital skills effectively aligns productivity with market demand, providing a sustainable empowerment model for disability-owned MSMEs.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the suboptimal implementation of the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila dan Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin (P5-PPRA) at MI Alam Alfa Kids. Although teachers have implemented character projects, the teaching modules have not been systematically developed based on developmental phases, the indicators for attitude evaluation remain unmeasured, and the integration of religious moderation values is still largely normative. In addition, limited time and the absence of a structured project management model have resulted in inconsistent implementation. This program aimed to design and implement a collaborative learning management model for P5-PPRA based on religious moderation. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) with the principles of co-creation, co-collaboration, and co-evaluation through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), mentoring in module development, implementation based on the PKART flow, and joint reflective evaluation. The local wisdom integrated into the program was the interfaith harmony practices in Dukuh Pekoso Kidulan, Tempur Village, Jepara, characterized by the presence of a mosque and a church located side by side and traditions of mutual cooperation among religious communities as contextual learning resources. The results show the development of phase-based teaching modules integrated with measurable character indicators, improved teacher capacity in designing authentic assessments, and an increase in students’ collaboration and reflection scores from 2.8 to 3.5 (scale of 4). These findings indicate that participatory and reflective learning management based on religious moderation can strengthen contextual and sustainable character education practices in Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

This community service program addressed the limited implementation of inquiry-based science learning in early childhood education centers in Batanghari Regency, where classroom practice was still largely dominated by teacher demonstrations and worksheets. The program aimed to strengthen teachers’ professional capacity to design and implement developmentally appropriate scientific learning. Participants included 120 teachers from 20 kindergartens across Muara Bulian, Bajubang, and Pemayung districts. The program was implemented over six months using Participatory Action Research (PAR) through three cycles of collaborative planning, classroom action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through classroom observation, teachers’ reflective journals, classroom documentation, and a scientific learning implementation rubric. The findings showed measurable improvements in classroom practice: the use of open-ended questions rose from 22% to 68%, facilitation of direct experimentation from 15% to 73%, constructive responses to children’s inquiry from 12% to 75%, documentation of children’s exploration from 10% to 64%, and participation in reflective peer discussion from 8% to 82%. Moreover, all 20 participating institutions developed local resource-based science corners, and the teacher learning community continued to function through the end of the program. The program demonstrates that theory-guided and contextually grounded PAR can effectively strengthen scientific learning practices and support the professional identity of early childhood teachers.

Abstract

Baladaun Conservation is a customary forest in Tosari Village, Pasuruan, managed collectively by the Tengger community as an expression of ecological stewardship and spiritual responsibility. Rooted in an eco-theological worldview, nature is regarded as a sacred trust linking humans, the environment, and the divine. Despite its strong ecological and cultural potential for educational tourism, the community faces challenges in institutional capacity, marketing, halal certification, and product distribution. This community service program applies the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to strengthen local economic capacity through participatory asset mapping, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building initiatives. The program outcomes demonstrate measurable improvements. A total of 17 community members are now actively involved in tourism services, while 12 local producers engage in value-added processing of coffee and honey. Approximately 35% of participating households reported additional income sources beyond traditional agriculture. Digital promotion increased outreach, generating over 1,200 online interactions, while several enterprises successfully obtained Business Identification Numbers (NIB) and initiated halal certification. In addition, conservation efforts included the planting of 500 tree seedlings and the establishment of waste management practices. These results indicate enhanced economic diversification, improved institutional capacity, strengthened market access, and reinforced environmental conservation based on Tengger cultural value

Abstract

The uneven adoption of digital marketing among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tandes District, Surabaya, has become a significant challenge that limits business competitiveness in an increasingly digitalized economic environment. Although various government initiatives have promoted MSME digitalization, at the local level many business actors still experience limited digital literacy, inconsistent online promotional practices, and low utilization of digital platforms for market expansion. This condition highlights the urgency of implementing community service programs that focus on strengthening the digital marketing capacity of MSME actors. This community service activity aims to identify the level of knowledge and readiness of MSMEs in adopting digital marketing and to strengthen their digital marketing capacity through a participatory approach. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving 63 MSME actors as active participants. The activities were carried out through several stages, including participatory problem identification, digital marketing training and mentoring, completion of a self-assessment instrument covering eight digital marketing competency indicators, and joint reflection and evaluation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to assess readiness levels and correlation analysis to examine the relationship between digital literacy, frequency of online promotion, number of online customers, and business turnover. The results indicate that the level of digital marketing adoption among MSMEs is at a moderate level, with mean scores ranging from 2.81 to 3.22. The highest competency is the ability to identify target markets (M = 3.22), while the lowest competency relates to conducting online competitor analysis and price benchmarking (M = 2.81). Correlation analysis also shows a positive relationship between digital literacy, the intensity of online promotion, the number of online customers, and increased business turnover.

Abstract

The Ibu Semangat Indonesia Kuat (ISIK) Organization in Surabaya has strong potential in developing ecoprint textiles based on sustainability and women’s empowerment; however, it still faces limitations in production, visual design, as well as branding and marketing aspects. This Community Service Program aims to strengthen production and marketing capacity through the enhancement of technical skills, design, and digital branding. The results indicate measurable improvements, including: (1) a 60–70% increase in production capacity and efficiency through the optimization of equipment and workflow; (2) a 70–80% improvement in members’ ecoprint mapping skills, reflected in more structured and consistent motif compositions; (3) a 100% increase in product diversification, from no derivative products to finished goods such as bags and fashion garments; (4) a 65–75% improvement in visual product quality, indicated by reduced printing failures; and (5) a 70% improvement in packaging and digital branding quality, as shown by more representative packaging and more engaging visual content. These findings imply a significant enhancement in the competitiveness of ecoprint products and the productivity of women-led communities within an environmentally sustainable creative industry.

Abstract

This mentoring program was carried out to assist the Jalerpitu folding table MSME in Mentoro Village, Soko District, Tuban Regency in obtaining business legality, improving digital marketing capabilities, and strengthening brand identity. The main problems faced by the partner include the absence of a Business Identification Number (NIB), low digital literacy, and suboptimal promotion strategies through online media. This program employs the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which positions the business owner as an active subject throughout the entire mentoring process. Through the stages of diagnosis, joint planning, action, and reflection, the facilitators and partners work collaboratively to design and implement solutions according to the real needs of the business. The activities include training and technical assistance in building brand identity through logo and banner design, registration of the NIB through the OSS (Online Single Submission) system, as well as the creation and management of a Shopee account as a digital marketing platform. The entire process is implemented through hands-on learning to ensure the partner can understand and independently repeat each step. The results of the mentoring show a significant increase in the partner's understanding of legal procedures, ability to use digital platforms, and application of marketing strategies through online marketplaces. The development of a more consistent brand identity also enhances product appeal and business visibility. Overall, the application of the PAR approach has proven effective in encouraging active partner involvement, strengthening business capacity, and expanding market sustainably

Abstract

Rural poverty in agricultural regions is often exacerbated by limited livelihood diversification and the underutilization of abundant local natural resources. This program addresses the urgent need for sustainable economic alternatives by enhancing community capacity through stingless bee (kelulut) cultivation using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The methodology followed a structured four-stage process: asset mapping, technical training in beekeeping, continuous mentoring, and the institutionalization of community business groups. Results indicate a significant improvement in technical proficiency among participants, particularly in colony management and hygienic harvesting techniques. The program successfully established independent business groups and achieved measurable income diversification, with honey and its derivatives providing a new, stable value-added revenue stream for households. Beyond economic gains, the initiative resulted in a 45.7% increase in environmental awareness regarding pollination services. Ultimately, this program provides a replicable model for green economic development and sustainable rural transformation through the strategic mobilization of local biodiversity and social capital.

Abstract

Stunting has long-term impacts on physical growth, cognitive development, and increased risk of disease in children. In Lumajang Regency, the stunting prevalence in 2024 reached 23.4%, highlighting the need for community-based prevention efforts. This community service aimed to enhance cadres’ capacity in stunting prevention through the utilization of moringa as a local food resource in the agronursing area of Kutorenon Village. The location was selected based on the availability of moringa and the readiness of local health cadres. The program applied an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach with a pre-experimental design (pre-test and post-test) involving 50 cadres. Activities included education, discussion, demonstration, and mentoring in preparing moringa-based healthy foods such as moringa ice cream and nuggets. The results showed a substantial increase in cadres’ knowledge, with mean scores rising from 60 to 88, along with improved practical skills in nutritious food preparation. The program also improved complementary feeding practices at community health posts, contributing to better child nutritional intake as a protective factor against stunting. Evaluation across nine posyandu indicated that six (66.7%) developed sustainable moringa-based menu innovations. This program positively impacted community nutritional behavior and has the potential to reduce stunting risk through improved child nutrition based on local resources.
