Abstract

One of the potential natural resources in Indonesia is the abundance of natural resources in the marine sector. The survey results show that the sale of cuttlefish in the market indicates that the demand for cuttlefish is very high. Cuttlefish is a type of marine animal that is widely consumed by the public because of its very high protein content, but the part used from this cuttlefish is the meat, while the squid bones are discarded. Cuttlefish bone is one of the natural ingredients that contains chitin, and when the isolation process is carried out with the stages of deproteinization, demineralization, and deacetylation, it can produce chitosan compounds. The aim of the study was to isolate chitosan from cuttlefish bones. Isolation of chitosan includes 3 basic stages, namely deproteinization, demineralization, and deacetylation. Then the characteristics of chitosan from cuttlefish bones are analyzed, namely water content analysis, ash content, protein content, ninhydrin test, and FT-IR characteristics. The results of characteristic testing of 8.04% water content, 1.73% ash content, and 4.8% protein content, ninhydrin test results showed that cuttlefish bone chitosan had an amine group, and FT-IR results showed that the absorption bands of C-O and C-N groups. The conclusion of this study shows that chitosan can be isolated from cuttlefish bones.

Abstract

This is study which focused on the determination of the coastal water quality, of the Aroma Beach, a strip of gray sand which stretches more than one kilometer and located in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. To determine water quality, water samples were taken monthly from February 2019 to May 2019 and subjected to analysis for pH, DO, temperature and oil and grease. Microbiological tests include determination of total coliform and fecal coliform measured in terms of most probable number per 100ml of the water sampled. Results of the study indicate that the coastal waters at Aroma Beach is safe for contact swimming and other recreational activities, however, values of its oil and grease have exceeded the maximum concentration slightly exceeded the DENR threshold for this pollutant.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) on Sustainability Performance (SP) in coal-fired power plants (PLTUs) in Indonesia, with Green Innovation (GI) and Employees’ Green Behavior (EGB) as mediators. Results show that GHRM significantly drives both GI and EGB, and directly improves SP. Indirect effects are even stronger, as GI and EGB enhance sustainability outcomes across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. These findings confirm GHRM as a critical driver of sustainability in energy-intensive industries. Based on the results, this study contributes theoretically by integrating GHRM with the Triple Bottom Line, extending the Resource-Based View and AMO framework, and linking micro-level green behaviors to macro-level sustainability outcomes. It also highlights the contextual relevance of GHRM in high-impact industries and underscores innovation as a strategic HRM outcome. Practically, energy companies should embed sustainability in HR practices, strengthen eco-innovation, and foster green behaviors through incentives and cultural alignment. Policymakers are encouraged to enhance regulatory support, while collaboration across sectors can accelerate the diffusion of sustainable practices. Overall, aligning HRM with green strategies provides both theoretical enrichment and actionable guidance for advancing corporate sustainability.
