Abstract

Corn farming communities in the Anggana sub-district usually harvest dry corn every 2-3 months and resulting about 200-700 kg. However, there are a very limited number of corn shellers and corn grinders used by 14 farmer groups, and inefficient. To overcome this, a new machine is needed to peel and grind corn with the results of whole corn cobs. The goal is to simplify the work of the farmers, increase the productivity of corn flour production and save costs. The method used in this training by demonstrating how to peel and grind corn using a machine. The women farmer group participated in the training with enthusiasm and at the end of the activity they were able to use the corn sheller and grinder, correctly. The community service team also donated corn shellers and grinders to partners.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) aims to increase the attractiveness of the Batuah Tourism Village, Kutai Kertanegara Regency through designing of the welcome gate. Batuah Tourism Village is a leading village in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province which has Elai fruit as a tourism commodity. To improve the tourist attraction, the gate design is made with the shape of an elai fruit as the main icon. The gate of the Batuah tourist village is located on the Balikpapan - Samarinda axis road, so the design is expected to be attractive and informative. This community service was carried out through discussion with the Head of Batuah Village in order to get an overview of the form and vision to be conveyed. Besides, the community service team made a gate design and presented it to the community of Batuah Village. The official designs that have been approved submitted to the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government.

Abstract

Tahura Lati Petangis has officially become a forest area through the Decree of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number SK.4335/MenLHK-PKTL/KUH/2015. In accordance with the Lati Petangis Tahura Management Plan Document 2019-2028, the Utilization Block will be designated for the development of ecotourism, educational tourism, environmental services and appropriate plant development. The development of ecotourism in the Tahura area is the cultivation of pollinating insects, namely honey bees with Trigona sp. which produces kelulut honey products. Kelulut honey products will be more valuable in the market if their quality and safety are guaranteed in accordance with the quality requirements listed in SNI. This community service aims to assist community groups in the Tahura area by testing the resulting kelulut honey products, so as to increase market value. The test results show that in general, all the honey tested has met the standard honey parameters which guarantee the purity of the honey produced in the Tahura Lati Petangis area where kelulut honey has a sourer taste than forest honey. The typical honey produced in the Tahura Lati Petangis area has a sweet-sour taste that is very good for consumption to maintain and increase body stamina.

Abstract

The corn sheller machine used by the Kutai Lama Village farmer group produces corn cobs that are cut or crushed, so it cannot be used as a medium for making mushrooms and worms. To solve this problem, the team developed a corn sheller machine and trained farmer groups to use the product. In this activity, two corn shelling machines were handed over and given training on how to use a corn sheller machine which is equipped with a 'belt cover' as a safety and added with a 'guide tool' so that the corn kernels do not spill. In addition, the machine is proven to increase the productivity of corn shelling activities. When compared with the manual method, the productivity increases to 4800%.

Abstract

Jembayan Tengah village is improving itself to transform into an agrotourism village based on community agriculture and creative economy. This community service aims to increase the capability of tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) in strengthening tourism in the tourist village of Jembayan Tengah. The method used is training with theory, practice, and tutorials. This service has resulted in Pokdarwis who are capable of being tour guides and formed several models of tour packages that can be offered to tourists.

Abstract

ACC (Ability, Care, Cultured) community is residents who have processed inorganic waste regularly, while organic waste has not been processed. This condition causes more organic waste to accumulate in landfills (TPS). This is due to the lack of knowledge and lack of desire for organic waste processing. The transfer of knowledge and sustainable assistance is the goal of this community service until ACC residents can independently process organic waste into multi-functional products. The methods used are training, mentoring and evaluation. The training was conducted to educate the residents in producing organic waste processing products in the form of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and eco-enzyme solutions. After the training, the community has been able to make organic waste processing products independently.

Abstract

The purpose of the community service is to provide knowledge to the women villagers, so that they can set the expiration date for their product and to facilitate the PIRT (Home Industry Production) number registration. The method is carried out by inviting guest speakers from the Kutai Kartanegara District Health Office regarding the certification of home industry production. The results of the community service revealed that the partners increased their abilities as indicated by the post test score is over 60.

Abstract

The purpose of the community service is to provide reference management training for postgraduate of State Islamic Institute of Samarinda. The training method used is direct practice in the classroom using three reference management software, namely Endnote, Mendeley, and Zotero. This activity was attended by 16 postgraduate students and they followed with great enthusiasm. After the training, the knowledge and abilities of postgraduate students experienced a significant increase and were committed to using the software in writing scientific papers.
